2025 Game Week 6: RRS Texas v OU
For me, I haven’t been posting because I don’t know what to say. I’ve never been more confused by a Texas squad. May be one of the most disappointing and inexplicable starts to a season since 2010. But it’s still a “young” team. The 2023 class hasn’t really had to overcome the adversity the team experienced in ‘21 and ‘22, and there are almost no guys left from that 2022 class. Maybe that’s all this - growing pains. I hope anyway. We’ll learn a lot about this team tomorrow Everything else (about Arch, the OL, defense) has already been discussed to death.

I just got back from reading some PSU message boards. Really the only thing that has made me feel better after Saturday.- Fire Kyle Flood
Flood is the OC. I get your point, but they have him that title specifically because it justifies the higher pay- Horns in the NFL
Collins saw Ant Hill KO that one poor bastard from SJSU and thought "shit I can do that too"- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
Looking isn’t the problem. Everyone looks. It’s all about how you look.- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
This is just stupid. Stop flagellating yourself. Famously worked out well for him and Gunney. Are we looking at a murder/suicide for BO&W and CTJ? Because I’m just imagining CTJ looking down the barrel of BO&W’s M-14 and thinking “well of course this is how it happens.”- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
What Im hearing is that we need to hire Pittman as an IOL coach- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
That's just depressing.- Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?
It could certainly happen - schools are shockingly profligate when it comes to coaches' salaries. And they want to keep up with the Joneses. But I've always thought that Florida had more sense than the average school, and have tried to show some restraint when it comes to their coaching searches and hires. The AD has to have built up some credibility with boosters etc., given that they just won the national championship in basketball. They're far from perfect, however, and at this point may be pretty desperate.- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
So are we doing "Fire Flood" unironically now?- Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?
You seem oddly testy about this. Are you from Arkansas or something? You're overthinking this too. The deep south is South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. It's a name that people use to refer to a region, and that's the region. It doesn't have anything to do with trees or mountains. You could maybe argue that parts of Texas or Florida could be included, but you'd be arguing and not agreeing. Everyone agrees that those five states are in the deep south. I think schools are trending away from huge coach salaries and towards paying players more. Take the extra 5 million you would pay for splash hire and spend it on a QB. You can still get a great coach for $10 million.- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again

That's a good point. We've been talking so much about how no one should root for OU in any situation ever - which is undoubtedly the correct and noble position - that I forgot how much the Arkansas fanbase deserves to be miserable as well. But, as you pointed out, their program matters so little on the national stage that it's almost acceptable to want them to win. Especially when it frees up a CFP spot and diminishes the Aggie's "success"- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
> "Nugget on Derrek Cooper..." > Literally the same thing people have been saying for weeks. South is really earning that paycheck.- Tell me about ou
Ah. I assumed everyone knows that's become more of a tongue-in-cheek joke at this point, but I guess not. The bet is still live, and I still might lose it, but I think everyone is in agreement the Livingstone is a pleasant surprise and a good addition to the WR room.- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
Don't get too bogged down in lagging indicators, though. Look at the trend. OSU - 2 catches on 8 targets (2/8 - 25%) for 35 yards and 0 TDs. SJSU - 4 catches on 8 targets (4/8 - 50%) for 30 yards and 0 TDs. UTEP - 3 catches on 6 targets (3/6 - 50%) for 32 yards and 1 TD. SHSU - 4 catches on 6 targets (4/6 - 66%) for 93 yards and 2 TDs. He's steadily improving in terms of receptions. Even though he stalled a bit against UTEP, the SHSU game is a positive sign and suggests he may be over the hump. A single line of statistics don't tell the story, you have to look at the trend. And I will readily admit that the "trend" is hardly definitive, because there is a small sample size. As I said above, my point is not that there is no problem whatsoever, just that we can't definitely say there is a problem because of the small sample size. And if there was a problem, hopefully it's fixed.- Florida Gators
I think that's right. He's already played in four games this season, one more and his shirt is burned. Although I know the rules for redshirts are currently being challenged. So it could change.- Arch Manning: Scores every way possible
Yeah, I wish Sark would put that play back on the shelf. It looks cool and has worked well the last few seasons, but defenses are clearly starting to read it and at some point this season it is going to bite us on the ass. With a throw like that, there won't be anyone between the defender and our endzone if he picks off the screen.- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
I think we have a relatively small data set to work with. To me, it just seems like Wingo and Arch weren't on the same page for the first few games. When Wingo was in a good position to catch the ball, Arch threw it at his feet. When Arch threw a catchable ball, Wingo was out of position. "Why aren't they on the same page?" is a fair question, but at this point I'm still willing to chock it up to happenstance. If it becomes something we see repeated as the season goes along, then maybe there's more to it.- Tell me about ou
I'm trying to figure what this means. What does Livingstone have to do with the 2008 football season? Wasn't he like two at the time? - Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
