  1. Counting down to when he reclassifies to 2025
  2. I'll bet a lot of NFL teams that need a TE were watching that game for Loveland and came away thinking Helm is the move. Really great that he got a chance to shine on the national stage.
  3. Seems like free money, but Texas State did just beat the brakes off of UTSA.
  4. I would drop Sorrell and Makuba from your "drafted for sure" list - I think there's a good chance they get drafted but I'd put the odds closer to 70-30 depending on how they test. I don't think either Cam Williams or DJ Campbell are ready for the NFL. The feedback they get is likely to be to wait another year. I agree that Blue will get drafted and I don't see him sticking around for another season. Trey Moore...I have no clue. Just depends on how he looks this season. I agree that Burke and Guilbea will stick around. I think Golden will declare for the draft and get drafted. I don't think Connor will get drafted ever. I don't think any one of Holmes, Bolden or Broughton get drafted. Gbenda might, but I am really bad at projecting LBs to the NFL. He's not as good as DmO or Ford. I think Jake Majors will surprise some people and go earlier than we expect. That puts my estimate at about 10 guys drafted. Which is probably too conservative. I thought we'd only get 7 drafted last season.
  5. "Wah wah, wide receiver recruiting is so hard! We need to shell out $$$$ for more blue chips!" Meanwhile, there's several Big 12 teams who set passing records using JAGs from nowhere. The problem at A&M isn't recruiting, it's development. They just don't understand that they are at the beginning of a long road that leads, at best, to them being a slightly better version of Oklahoma State or KSU. That should be their goal. But I doubt their AD / boosters have the patience to reach that outcome and, even if they do, they won't be happy with it for long.
  6. I am 100% in agreement with your point, but FYI - App State is not FCS. They're one of the better G5 teams every year.
  7. This is an excellent way to put it. If Napier doesn't play the QB that gives them the best chance of winning, he's letting down the 84 guys on the roster (plus the AD and the fans). I'm sure it sucks for him personally to go back on promises he made to the kid, but he can't put the kid before the team. It's also a good lesson about not making those kinds of promises.
  8. Yeah, that's pretty much where I'm at. I don't think taunting should be a penalty at all, but I agree with Mack when he said that if it's going to get flagged then it should be flagged the same for everyone. At most, I think doing horns down is weird when the team isn't playing Texas (unless its OU - I think horns down might be their official hand signal). The phrase "rent free" gets tossed around too much, but it really is the truth when it comes to Texas. Watching a WVU-ISU game and seeing fans from both teams doing horns down, you have to wonder what's going through those fans' heads? They're at a football game, cheering for their program, interacting with opposing fans, and their first thought is about Texas? A bit sad, tbqh. But the most that gets out of me is a chuckle and shake of the head. But when it's the fans of the school we're playing? Sure, go nuts. Horns down all you want. Just part of the fun. Most teams (outside the old SWC) don't even have a hand signal.
  9. Man, I just do not give a shit about the horns down in any context.
  10. Gerry put in a crystal ball for Hudson to Tech while he was still being recruited by Texas as well, with 100% confidence. He almost never does that, because it ruins the kid's fun / surprise of announcing where he's going. It would normally be considered a dick move and would limit Gerry's access to other recruits. So why did Gerry do it? On several podcasts and video updates with Bobby, he indicated that Hudson was not acting in good faith. This was never expressly stated (as far as I know), but basically Hudson knew he was going to Tech but was still telling Texas that he was undecided. Normally that's not a big deal and Gerry should let the kids enjoy the process. But Hudson took it a step farther and was negative recruiting Texas to other kids while attending Texas events. Texas is hosting this kid, taking him to fun events, feeding him and his family, and all the while the kid is lying to the staff and trying to undermine Texas' recruiting efforts. That's what put Gerry over the edge. Maybe he shouldn't have spoiled the kids recruiting process, but I'm glad he did.
  11. I think McGuire would start Hudson if he thought Hudson would win them games. This is pure speculation on my part, but my bet is that he came in unprepared and assumed he wouldn't have to work hard to get the starting spot. Waltzing into Tech as a 5-star, hey may have thought that he would be the best player on the roster just by showing up. Doesn't matter how talented you are, if you don't learn the playbook or route tree, the QB is going to have a hard time getting you the ball. 18 years old is still young and the game moves pretty fast for freshmen. The FR WR that are making plays are usually early enrollees who busted their asses over the summer / fall camp.
  12. Texas - 70 UTSA - 0 Total passing yards 412 157/240/15
  13. The responses in this thread aren't "don't question Sark," they're pointing out that the conservative playcalling in the second half was intentional and not the result of struggling. Reasonable people can differ. I'm sure many people wanted Sark to step on Michigan's neck and keep pouring it on. That kind of disagreement is fine, normal, and healthy. But the post that drew all these responses didn't disagree with the strategy, it wrongly posited that Sark was struggling in the second half, called a weak game, and was unable to score. That's not a disagreement. It's an ignorant and inaccurate interpretation of the second half. The execution dropped off a bit, but that's also because we pulled our starters. Again - intentional, conscious decision making. Not struggling. Disagreement / questioning Sark is fine. But don't be a fucking dumbass about.
  14. My buddy is now claiming that he had a trophy shop make the "fake" plaque at Dirty's and donated it for a laugh. I have no reason to doubt him, other than I really wish I had thought of it first.
  15. Not only was he too dumb to see that Texas was clearly the better option, but he also tried to string us along and fuck with our other recruiting efforts. Fuck that kid. With a rusty rake.
  16. Probably already discussed on here at length, but @Scipio has been adamant that Arch starts at Texas for two season (2025 and 26). The only situation he sees where Manning leaves after 2025 is if Arch wins the Heisman and a national championship.
  17. Not really looking to argue, but if cops can lie to me I should be able to lie to them. Or at least tell them I'm not going to give them my name. Unless I'm driving a car I shouldn't have to carry ID, this isn't East Germany. Reasonable people can differ but it's always annoyed me that the "you have to tell the cops the truth" thing isn't a two-way street. Also, an Austin High grad would never have gotten noticed in the first place. If you look like Mungo from Blazing Saddles, maybe try to be a little less conspicuous at the bar.
