His pass blocking is the bigger issue.

I blame that one on Mack. This is the kind of outside the box thinking one needs to revolutionize the sport and win national championships.

Yeah, that's fair. I don't expect the staff to give a detailed presentation about what they're doing to fix it. My hope is more to get some kind of insight from our insiders based on their experience. For example, it's obvious that the coaches are taking this situation seriously because how could they not. But I'm tired of hearing our insiders just repeat the line that the problem is temporary and that it will take care of itself. I would like to hear what Gerry and Bobby think about what the staff is doing. I agree that you can't heap more pressure on the kid, but what are your options then? I like CTJ's suggestion of reducing the number of reads and just telling him to pull the trigger sooner. You could also take a Bull Durham approach and give him permission to fuck up - just start throwing the ball more and don't worry about being perfect. I coached baseball and we had a kid who's dad had fucked up his swing. The boy was constantly worrying about where his feet were, where his hands were, keeping his elbow tight on his side. And he couldn't hit the ball. Eventually he stopped actually swinging the bat and started placing it in front of the ball, almost like a bunt or a cricket bat, because he was so petrified of missing. I took him aside and told him to just swing the bat as hard as he could. I don't care where your hands or feet are, I don't care where your elbows go. Just eyes on the ball, and swing as hard as you physically can. And of course, the kid immediately started hammering dingers (otherwise I wouldn't be telling this story). I don't know what the equivalent of that advice is to a high level QB. But I would like to think that Sark does. And goddamnit, but you fucking got me to write a dissertation, didn't you.

I appreciate the insight, but I think everyone who has been paying attention has pieced together that (1) Arch's problems are mental, and (2) that they are only showing up on game day. To their credit, Bobby and Gerry have more or less been saying that for a week or two. To me, the question is not "what is happening?" but "what is the staff doing about it?" I'm not trying to write a dissertation here, Sydney. That is surprisingly philosophical for you. I'm not really looking for answers to why it's happening, I just want to know that something is being done. From what insiders have said, it sounds like the staff is being shockingly laissez faire about a big fucking deal. I don't need to know their plan, but it would be nice to know that they are taking it seriously and doing something about it. For example, CTJ's 4th paragraph in the post above is at least some kind of analysis. That's more than we've heard from the staff or our insiders. To be clear, I am 100% on board with Sark as a coach. I have a lot of faith in him and his staff, although my estimation of Milwee and Flood is somewhat lowered. I just would like some indication that they are taking this as seriously as we are. For fuck's same, Immamac is making "should we bench Arch" polls. That's a sign of a fanbase that's on the ledge. I get that I'm being somewhat alarmist and this sentiment is not really directed at you. But there has been so much excitement and expectation for Manning since he committed and the whole thing is imploding. It is one of the biggest disappointments I've ever experienced as a fan.

I understand that insiders are dealing with a kind of tension. Their job is to tell us what is actually going on - that's what we pay them for. But they can't tell us everything relayed in confidence, because that could cost them their access. That's not an easy line to walk and I am sympathetic. But don't piss on my neck and tell me it's raining. I've got eyes and I'm not dumb. To be clear, however, I'm not just talking about Bobby. He's in the same jackpot as the rest of them, but he usually shoots it pretty straight and will tell you what he really thinks.

I know that Sark has built up a lot of goodwill with our insiders. And that goodwill is more than justified. But it seems like they've abandoned a lot of the critical thinking skills they developed when we had shittier coaches. The offense is alarmingly bad right now. The fact that the staff doesn't seem to be pissed off about it is even more alarming. I would hope they are as shocked about this situation as we are.

I would argue that at 71, Cutcliffe is entirely too old. But we just hired 68 year old Duane Akina so maybe not.

He had some pretty solid punt returns on Saturday. Glad to see some progress on special teams.

Recruiting > Winning Honestly, this is more clever than gross. And to the extent it's gross, it's not even in the top 10 of the grossest things you've said this season.- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
What's weird is that if you go back and watch the first quarter again, Manning was more or less fine. The run game was fine. The WR didn't have to do much, but they looked okay. Even the OL was doing its job most of the time (except Stroh, who still managed to fall on his ass every third play). The offense didn't cover itself in glory, and it was disconcerting that they weren't demolishing UTEP, but it all looked okay. But at the beginning of the second quarter the offense was in the red zone. Only about 5 yards to go. Manning misses a wide open shot to Wingo - he just throws it too far and to the outside. One of those throws that you want back, but whatever. The very next play is the one where he has Livingstone open, won't throw the ball, scrambles for like 8 seconds and then throw across his body for a pick. It was 4th and 3, so it didn't make a huge difference, but that was when it all fell apart for the offense. Arch wasn't the same after that, and the rest of the team just seemed to feed off of that lack of confidence.- 2026 QB Dia Bell
Gerry said this morning that it isn't an arm or shoulder injury and it is related to the injury he suffered last season.- 2025 Game Week 4: Sam Houston @ Texas
Building on that - Baxter is likely out until Florida.- Arch Manning: Scores every way possible
If they are willingly coming to this website then I think they should already know what to expect. This place isn't called Cheery Horns. No one promised them a rose garden.- 2025 Game Week 4: Sam Houston @ Texas
Last week, I said I wanted to see Arch connect with Wingo a few more times and for the OL to cut down on the penalties. They accomplished both of those things. So this week, I would like to see Arch play with a modicum of competence and confidence. I don't need VY levels of swagger or Colt levels of consistency, just play like the same guy he was against MSU last season. Get him out of the game at half time, regardless of how he is playing, and give Caldwell and maybe even Lacey some reps under center. I never want to see Stroh on the field again. The experiment has failed and it is time to move on.- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again

Delightfully on brand, thank you. Truly a bright spot in an otherwise dark thread.- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
He's always been this way. Playcalling against TCU in 2022 felt punitive. I think Sark is a good dude but I also think he has an angry streak and I think it is most manifest when the team is failing to execute the layups he's feeding them. Maybe I'm just another fucking idiot on this board, but playcalling does not seem like the issue to me. At all. Some plays get called because they're setting up later plays, not because they're necessarily going to succeed on that down. Sark does that a lot and always has. But what Sark does on offense only works if it's executed. If the players don't execute the play that is supposed to be the payoff for all that set up, then it doesn't mean dick and the whole thing falls apart. If you don't like that style of offense - which, for the record, is not an unreasonable position - then the only fix is a different playcaller or an entirely new OC. You're not talking about changes to game management, you're talking about a wholesale revision to the offensive philosophy. Stroh needs to be gone. Drop Conner Roberson in at C and move Hutson to LG. Or anything that gets that guy off the field. I cannot believe how "cute" Sark is being about that guy's level of play. He should be irate and Flood should be working to save his job.- Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
He's unacceptable. That picture posted above in the thread? Where him, Hutson, and Campbell are all on the ground? It's because Stroh tripped over his own feet and tripped the other two. He is actively damaging the performance of the offensive line more than anyone on the defensive lines we've played. Him still being on the field is exhibit A in the case to fire Flood.- Arch Manning: Scores every way possible
Goddamn how old are you? Gotta update those references. Try bringing in Seth Rogan and Sydney Sweeney to unfuck his brain.- I'm sick of the attitude around here
