  1. Maybe I'm stupid, but I'm just not that worried about this. If Ewers is at 90% and dealing, we win. If he's too hurt or off his game, Sark has a built-in excuse to switch to Arch that lets Quinn save face. And I think we can beat A&M with Arch, given how different the playbook and gameplan looks with him. He's like the polar opposite of Ewers. Either way, Elko is now stuck trying to prep for two completely different QBs. And he doesn't have the horses. Their DL is great, but their LB and DB groups have serious deficiencies. My only lingering concern is that Ewers will go out there, look bad, and Sark won't switch to Arch until we're deep in a hole. Then Arch is put in the position of trying to pull us out of it. Although I think there's a reasonable basis for that concern, I also think Sark has earned a little grace and a little confidence in how he manages the season and the QB room. I'm never going full on "trust the corches," but I'll trust Sark on this until he shows me otherwise.
  2. I'm prejudiced against hyphens. Or I got him mixed up with Filsame. But probably the former. I'm basing this on what people have reported about him and his own statements about his development curve. I don't know how "confidently" I can say that the staff likes him, but the vibes seem good based on what I've read and heard. Good OL are hard to fine, he has connections to A&M, so maybe someone will try to tamper with him and succeed. But if we're just spitballing, I lean more towards him staying until I hear something new. The only think to be "pessimistic" about is that there is no Kelvin Banks. But those players only come around once every several years. That starting line up for next season looks about as good as one could reasonably expect. Maybe there will be some growing pains, but that still looks like a solid OL. It would literally be better than any OL we had under Chuck or Turtle.
  3. Me too - he was one of my favorite recruits in the 2022 class. I thought once he had some time under the staff that his natural athleticism would set him apart. Really disappointing.
  4. I don't see Finkley leaving. Dude is here for an education and is playing football as a means to an end. Unless he "transfers" to med school early, I think he's just happy to be here. Warren Roberson is a true sophomore and got some play earlier in the season. He could leave but I think it's more likely that he'll stay with the expectation that he will contribute more next season. The staff clearly likes both Stroh and Vasek, I don't know why either would leave when spots look like they'll open up next season. I agree that Gullette, Akana, Agbo, and DuBose are all risks. I would add Jaray Bledsoe, Aaron Bryan, Sydir Michell (maybe? not sure what's going on there), Jordon Johnson-Rubell, and Amari Niblack. Plus maybe Neto Umeozulu if it doesn't look like he'll start next season.
  5. I have honestly never understood why the "poooooor Aggies" chant gets under their skin so bad. Or at least why it seems to bother them more than any other chant. But every Aggie I have ever known, to a one, has hated that chant. Makes it too easy to start fights in the text chain with friends. It's like calling Marty McFly chicken, they just cannot let it go.
  6. I don't want to weigh into this argument, but I do want to point out that Arch posted those numbers against UTSA, ULM, and MSU. Call me crazy, but I think Ewers might have had pretty good games against those teams as well.
  7. I’m not thrilled with Ewers either but you sound like a pants pissing little bitch
  8. Disappointing. He hasn't showed up on our injury reports - maybe he's pissed he's not getting starter reps and decided he wants to try one more year somewhere else? I assume he wants tape for the NFL.
  9. "If Texas ever starts buying players, you'll know." Well now they know.
  10. Needs more elephants. And a giant ass turtle.
  11. Fair enough, you would know better than I do. My follow up questions is whether or not our position to players who come back to renegotiate is "you made an agreement, we expect you to honor it, and if you want to take that other deal go ahead." If that's how we're handling things - great. That makes sense to me and although it means we may lose one or two recruits, we avoid bringing in "turds," as you said, which seems better in the long run. But are we really playing hardball with these recruits? Like, if they have signed an NIL agreement and then get a better offer from A&M and want out of their initial agreement, are we telling them "tough shit, if you breach your contract we'll sue"? I'm not incredulous, just surprised if that's the case. I didn't think our AD / boosters had it in them to play hard ball.
  12. Seems like it comes down to a couple of questions: 1. Have they signed anything? If not, then negotiations are still open. It would be naive to operate on handshakes. 2. Even if they've signed anything, would we really hold them to it? If we bow up too hard on a recruit we end up looking like assholes who won't play ball. It's questionable whether we could even hold a recruit to a previous agreement. So yeah, I don't think negotiations stop until the kid is enrolled. And may not stop even then, depending on the player and how close we are to the portal opening. Brave new world.
  13. A disconcerting number of veteran posters are biting on shitty helobious bait.
  14. It's funny that he says that he felt differently about the PAC-16 move than other Aggies and that people at A&M wanted different things, while at the same time treating Texas fans and the administration like an unchanging monolith over the course of several years. Then, when loosely related but still completely different people end up holding different opinions, he refers to that as "hypocrisy." What's really sad is that you can tell he genuinely believes everything he wrote and is actually up in his feelings about it. He's spun a narrative where he is a well meaning victim, and is still fixated on perceived slights from years ago. Honestly, the only explanation that makes sense is that he likes feeling that way. And I don't think I'm saying anything novel here - Aggies love to play the victim, they love to play the doomed hero, and they will twist the facts in whatever way is necessary to support that image of themselves.
  15. Fair enough, I took your post as asking why the difficulty rankings they were looking at seemed off. To the extent you were asking for someone to try to think like an Aggie and explain them...I politely decline.
  16. Because it's the KFord rating, which is just ... some guy putting out numbers. Kelly Ford isn't a nobody, but he's not a somebody either. It would be like if Bud Elliott put out power ratings. He's knowledgeable about CFB and it's how he makes a living, but it's just him. It's also funny that the Aggies are putting so much stock in his ratings when he puts Texas above A&M in almost every metric:
  17. Not proud of this effort, but I'm hung over and it's more proof of concept.
  18. Pretty sure Ffrench is visiting Florida because he lives an hour away from Gainesville. I wouldn't read too much into it.
