Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
You're assuming that healthy Arch > injured Quinn. You may be right, but we really aren't in a position to know. I hope that Sark wouldn't allow his loyalty to Ewers or pride in his ability to develop QBs to lead to a decision that negatively affects the team. And we really haven't seen anything in Sark's conduct that suggest we should assume that's the case. He is maybe a little too loyal, but he's not loyal to a fault. He pulled Ewers and brought Arch in against UGA in Austin - turns out UGA was just going to kick our ass regardless of who was under center. You also can't discount the limited ceiling of our run game and the impact it had on the rest of our offense. Passing game can't afford to be simple / predictable if teams know you're not going to run. A more experienced QB can open up the playbook. To be fair, I'm making a lot of assumptions myself. But I'm willing to give Sark the benefit of the doubt here - even injured, Ewer's experience probably gives him the edge over Arch.

In Sydney's defense, I was being tongue-in-cheek when I brought up Akina. But it looks like all the wish-casting from oldheads has finally paid off. That being said, I don't think this is a bad hire. We've got a young up-and-comer as the new CB coach and having a dude like Akina to mentor him for a couple of years is hardly a bad thing. Akina probably can't recruit anymore, but he can certainly still coach. It's not exactly a homerun hire but it still seems reasonable. Personally, I'm whelmed. Happy for all the old dudes on here though.- 2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread

Other than the obvious choices, like Akina, who is a likely replacement? Mike Mickens already did the "staying home" tweet.- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen

I mean - I'm still pretty impressed that a guy who bears an unsettling resemblance to Sid the Sloth and is unlikely to make the NFL was able to pull one of these girls:- 2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread

Goddamn you motherfuckers will argue about anything. Why are we wasting time arguing about whether Choice was a good coach and recruiter? Is this is a real conversation? He was obviously excellent in both roles. Anyone who says otherwise is either ignorant, stupid, or trolling. Stop wasting time on this shit. Not trying to take a shot at @Bodacious Bevo or @NoName and I appreciate the info. But I am flummoxed that we've spent the last 4 pages responding to one of the dumbest takes I've ever read on this board.- 2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
FIFY- Texas RB Talk
I've been making peace with the loss this afternoon. Sark is going to hire a low-level staffer from the NFL or an OC from an FCS school in the southeast and we'll all complain and ask "who the fuck is this guy" and then he'll turn out to be awesome. Whoever we get won't be as good as Choice but he'll still be good. We just gotta suffer through the uncertainty and all the sturm und drang threads that will eventually overrun the board. At this point, I just hope can keep my pants pissing to myself and not be part of the problem.- 2025 NFL Draft

Mike Hart would be a good hire, but I doubt he leaves his alma mater.- 2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
I was one of those folks. I stand by what I said about Anwar, even a blind dog finds a bone sometimes. And I'm still from Missouri on this hire. But I also didn't like the Baker hire (or at least didn't understand it), so take that for what it's worth. But I just can't shake the feeling that we could have done better given who we are and what we have to offer. Sark / PK know better than me, though, and I'm happy to be wrong again. But I would like for us to poach a home run hire at some point, rather than raising someone from obscurity based on potential. Whoever we get to replace Choice will be a step down, but maybe we can get someone with a proven history and skins on the wall? It doesn't need to be a Frank Wilson or a Tony Alford, but someone at that level would be nice.- 2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
I know, but I can still be upset about it.- 2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
