  1. Wow. So it's Schloss. Combining that tweet with Gerry's comment that the contract is signed seems pretty definitive.
  2. Man, I can't even get worked up about DL recruiting anymore. The intrigue's been sucked out of it. The process at that position seems to be about money, but it sounds like Sark doesn't want to pay market rates? Well then we're cooked. Am I missing something because it seems pretty simple. Bo Davis didn't do a great job* recruiting DL at Texas, but he seems to be doing a better job at LSU. Emphasis on "seems" because I'm sure someone will hear my concern as an invitation to a dick measuring contest that I don't care about. That's not what I'm getting at. My point is that if Davis struggled here and does better at LSU then maybe the problem isn't the DL coach. It sounds like from the top down we're not prioritizing the position monetarily, which is a fundamental issue. It's not that we don't have the money, it's that we don't want to spend it. My question to the people on this thread who know more than me is this - what can I, a run of the mill asshole, do about that? It's an honest question. I'm not a proponent of sternly worded emails or tweeting at CDC, but I'm willing to give it a shot if that will help. Laughing at @Hermanator's dumbass is great, but I'd rather be proactive. But if recruiting premium DL is about paying money - and Sark doesn't want to pay - then we're down to recruiting OKGs and hoping that Baker is a great developer. *Aside from some likely fool's gold in the 2022 class (jury's still out but I'm from Missouri)
  3. He was this close to being a Trinity Tiger.
  4. "It was my understanding there would be no vocabulary"
  5. You know, I really don't appreciate you making me look up definitions.
  6. I mean, dude was DC for the Ravens. I think he's familiar with how this shit goes.
  7. goddamnit tex
  8. Wasn't sure where to put this, but here is the final scoreboard over the Big 12 left-behinds: Credit to u/hinderdumbass on the LHN subreddit.
  9. This is a little too much like Aggies jumping on a dude for spelling it "UT" instead of "t.u." for my taste, but you do you.
  10. There's a lot wrong with that article, but this part in particular made me chuckle. Yes, Texas was "hoarding" the Big 12's money, much like how the IRS thinks I'm "hoarding" a bunch of my salary. When other teams start to think of "welfare" as "entitlements," it's clearly time to move on.
  11. I would be so, so happy if Mukuba could keep Taffe off the field. I like Taffe and I've been thankful that he's been in the safety room to set the floor, but we need better. His athleticism just isn't there for the position. I know some people appreciate his knowledge of the position and some other people just hate him for being a former walk-on (white) DB, but there's no disagreement that we need a better athlete back there. So it will be us and Ole Miss in the SECCCG then. That will be fun.
  12. It's gotten the point where a Hi from Gerry means about as much to me as 👀 from Harris. At best it means we got a silent from a football recruit, and silents just aren't worth much anymore. Even worse, sometimes its a basketball recruit. Which is fine, but it's like seeing a chocolate chip cookie in the jar, getting it out and realizing that it was just oatmeal raisin. It's not bad, but it's not what you wanted.
  13. Nah, it’s not ignorance. It’s the same shit as Bohls asking if horns down will be a penalty, every preseason, when he knows damn well the rules haven’t changed. “Texas bad” gets clicks and that’s all they need to know.
  14. Bone's bio says he's an Alabama guy who just came over from Rivals. So...grain of salt.
  15. Live image captured from this "conversation":
  16. I understand the appeal of LSU to an unsophisticated person. And I mean "unsophisticated" in the technical sense, not calling them stupid or anything. They lack expertise or experience, and can be convinced by a pitch that seems strong on a superficial level. While at Texas, Bo Davis helped put four different DL in the NFL, including a first-rounder. Credit where its due, Davis was the coach most responsible for developing Murphy. If they have a strong NIL pitch - regardless of the veracity of the pitch - to go with Davis' reputation, I can understand it. I also understand that people in CFB coaching circles are high on Kenny Baker's potential, but he has nothing to sell at the moment. So I don't necessarily fault him for not winning head-to-head with Davis, although it is disconcerting. But where the fuck was this version of Bo Davis at Texas? Why did Davis struggle to recruit quality DL here? There's no way that our NIL and sales pitch are worse than LSU (with or without Davis). Was he focused on development and there's only so many hours in the day? Did he think his 2022 class was enough to coast on (despite not being as good as it seemed on paper)? I don't get it. I hope that Zion and Brown sit down with the staff and they can explain why LSU's pitch is bullshit. I hope we get that chance. Because I'm pretty fucking sick and tired of losing recruits to a school that I frankly view as being worse than A&M.
  17. You gotta think like a business and do the math. Is the amount of money it costs to fix the stadium worth the extra number of units sold due to the fix? If not, then don't do it. Not to be mean about it, but nobody gives a shit if Southwest's stadium looks right.
