  1. I think it's the culmination of things. For decades, they were cut out of the SEC because frankly they didn't bring anything to the deal. To be fair, no one did. UF sponsored them about a dozen times and most of the time, it never got to a second to bring to discussion. They joined the ACC over the SEC because they wanted an easier route to a football championship and to advance their basketball program and also because they wanted to be part of the upper crust of academics. They saw it as a route to jump Florida in all three while also thumbing their nose at the SEC and decades of being ignored. Football wise, it worked great through most of Bowden's tenure. They love to point at the ridiculously long string of top 5 finishes thanks in large part to a weak schedule. It was a calculated decision and it paid off. Next year, it will too once the playoff expands. This year, it didn't. Basketball wise, they had to watch UF win 2 titles and go to an additional two Final Fours when they were supposed to be the basketball program in the state because of the ACC (see 2020 banner). Recently, FSU's academics finally started to improve, but they are still well behind UF. Athletically, they have also improved a lot too but still behind UF. And now they are dealing with an unforeseen monetary gap because they are not in the Big 2 while also dealing with fan dissatisfaction because most FSU fans still are not interested in most of their conference opponents unless they are winning big. Going to Tally is a pain for most of the fans in the core population of the state and it's not a cheap weekend. Those little things add up if you aren't playing enticing games either because of your opponents or because you aren't winning. They are currently looking to reduce capacity of Doak to 65k as part of their current renovations. That's not uncommon now but it's a big drop.
  2. They prefer the term "unconquered" It's the FSU version of Aggies' "we never lost, just games we were behind when time ran out"
  3. You think they care? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2023/12/30/ron-desantis-light-florida-capitol-fsu-football-colors/72067537007/
  4. They might still. They've already announced they are lighting up the capitol building for their undefeated season. I understand they hung a Final Four banner for their 2020 basketball team.
  5. The whole thing is shady. There are copies of the 2013 agreement and 2016 amendment already out there. All FSU will say is that those docs may not be 100% accurate.
  6. Apparently 11 months isn't enough time to change your signs.
  7. I don't think most of the portal players for Florida is a surprise. I'd read they expected 15-20 in the portal to make room for incoming transfers/recruits. The two that are standing out in my mind is our DE Princely who most figured was going to go pro after this season and looks to be making sure he has every possibly option of he doesn't hear what he wants to hear from the NFL and our RB Etienne where there were rumblings before the season started that he was upset with splitting time with our primary RB. It doesn't look good from an PR standpoint at all if Etienne leaves especially because the schools talking to him are all contenders and he'll have a chance to shine and it'll look worse from a critics standpoint than its affect on team performance (RB position is one of the least of our concerns). Biggest issue with UF is if some of these highly touted recruits that they are making room for bail on us in the next week.
  8. Dude loves to waste taxpayer dollars on court cases he knows he's gonna lose.
  9. Florida is ready to fill in that role and take another another pummeling from UGA if that means we get 3 more weeks of practice and a NY6 payout.
  10. I'm hoping that the expanded playoff encourages teams to schedule better. I know even though our schedules have always been among the toughest in the country, I've still enjoyed that we've started adding more P5 OOC opponents. It sells tickets.
  11. Penn State probably wins 10 in the ACC. I'm all for leaving both Michigan and FSU out. Michigan for the shitty schedule, oh, and the cheating. FSU for the shitty schedule and because they lost their best player.
  12. Definitely awful... but is it easer than FSU's?
  13. Michigan played an easier schedule than FSU?
  14. We won't know for a while how this shakes out but until this year, Norvell's recruiting has been pretty subpar. He's lived off of transfers and a weak schedule. 2020 (Transition Class) - 21 2021 - 21 2022 - 19 2023 - 16 2024 - Currently 3
  15. FSU Defense has still played pretty well. But they're gonna get worn down if the offense can't stay out on the field.
  16. Yes.
  17. Looking at their schedule the last 4 years, they've yet to beat a top 10 team even with Travis. The guy is an amazing super senior that's benefitted by playing a shit schedule. The last time he faced a top 10 opponent was 3 years ago against Notre Dame and he finished with a QBR of 40.
  18. Danny's always been a piss baby.
  19. It's that attention to detail that really... wait, Nike logo? Don't they know we're a Jordan school? :flips table:
  20. Looks like those same evil Gators that they like to blame for not being in the SEC.
