  1. That's pretty much how every conference save the SEC has been looked at. They have 1 or 2 banner programs that they depend on for perception and if they are down, the whole conference looks down. The SEC's run has been directly related to the fact that it has had more than 1 or 2 banner programs: Bama, UGA, Florida, LSU, and Auburn have all won. Tennessee and Aggie have the resources even if they have not won. Florida, Auburn and LSU have also had down periods during this run but it didn't hurt the perception since Bama and UGA were still winning.
  2. Right but not everyone else could win out.
  3. I'm not sure that's possible.
  4. I'm also disappointed that Florida isn't receiving more votes after beating a FCS team. I will only do my SEC chant at half volume today.

Mertz has done well at Florida. I think most expected/hoped that we would see Lagway in some fashion this year to let him ease into it. We may not have much of a choice if our OL is not going to be capable of protecting the QB.

Sure but it doesn't make any sense. It's like a real life version of the "jokes on them, I was only pretending to be retarded" meme.

Are they trying to claim that they have all of the Rural Central Florida fans or something? I'm not sure I get what they are going for.

RIP Purple Porpoise and halftime passes.
  9. You've got to understand Alabama. There are folks with 2nd mortgages on their doublewides to cover their season tickets at Bama. They fear any program that has resources beyond asking if 70% of a state's population are willing to skip dinner to pay a coach's salary. They are the definition of "it just means more" because they are giving everything they've got.

It was fairly loud but not one of the loudest the Swamp has been. The heat/humidity was probably the second worst I've experienced in that stadium. Lots of people spent significant time in the concourses to get out of the sun. Also, the noise factor really only comes in to play if the opposing team has to call a play or audible. AFAIK, Miami's plan was "have Cam stand in the backfield unchallenged until he see's an open receiver"
  11. He seems upset but I'm not sure because of that 2 pixel line.
  12. Somehow, both of our lines seem to have regressed from last year.
  13. Can confirm. I have only visited once, and met this guy, who hissed at me, at Lake Alice. My fondest Lake Alice memory was seeing a family walk their kids over one of the small bridges and the kids got excited because they saw a little turtle in the water, and then they got to hear the crack when a gator appeared out of nowhere and the turtle was no more. Well, that and the bat house. So many bats. I still love to watch them at dusk in my backyard but it's only usually one or two at a time. I need to build a bat house.
  14. Look. I was told to stop using OUT and I did.
  15. I really don't know. We've already lost one OOC series -- California -- to a combination of UF looking to remove an OOC game in anticipation of the SEC going to 9 and Cal suddenly having a lot more east coast road trips and swapping it for a series with UCLA. A lot of these games were added with the expectation of a 12 or 16 game playoff where having a good schedule will make up for a couple of losses. Miami has been on the books for awhile if not officially announced, then by a common understanding. The former AD made a point to schedule Miami whenever we had a year with 2 bye weeks. Also, the current AD picked a tougher schedule to get more good games in the Swamp and keep the seats filled at the higher prices they're charging. I think only one game last year wasn't a sellout: McNeese St. The schedule also got tougher because of OU and UTx joining. We basically traded Texas for Mizzou and Ole Miss for Vandy the next 2 years.
  16. Nothing happens in a bubble. The record alone doesn't really tell us anything. Napier is probably not going to get fired unless he loses the team and recruiting class, which is just OK at this point. Next year's schedule is not much easier, so you have the additional challenge of finding a coach who would be willing to walk into that. vs. UGA Texas Tennessee FSU @ LSU @ Miami @ A&M @ Kentucky @ Ole Miss Miss St USF FAMU There are plenty of Gators who think that Jedd Fisch would be interested but he just got to Washington and I can't imagine him wanting to walk into the current schedule at UF. I feel like even if Napier just treads water this year, he'll get another year. After that, we could be looking at a new coach and a new AD. UF also has a new prez search going on which I won't go into because it's quite political.
  17. It's the tagline for everything.
  18. The game is at SMU, right? FSU's band went to Ireland and they most likely will travel to Miami. So SMU will be at most a travel pep band.
  19. He won the starting job at Southern Miss, right? Should be interesting to watch.
  20. Hard to say. They play a shit schedule every year. This one will probably end up with only a couple ranked opponents by the end of it.
  21. 90% chance he got turned down by UF admissions and never got over it.
  22. Hey, Clark. If he offers to lead you to a cave of wonders, don't do it!
  23. Kyle Whittingham thinks a super league is coming very soon. https://www.johncanzano.com/p/canzano-utah-footballs-kyle-whittingham Q: You’ve talked about the future of major college football. That a line will be drawn in the sand and that Utah needs to be on the right side of the line. When is that coming? How many teams will it include? What do you see? A: Well, yeah, I think there is a major realignment coming, and it’ll be a big one. I think it will create even more of a divide and exclusivity for the teams that are on the right side of that line. 20 months to four years? How about that for a time frame? In my opinion, it’s going to look very much like an NFL minor league. I see an expansion of the playoff with that to 16 teams. The short version is Super Conferences. I think it’s going to boil down to 40-60 maybe teams in the Super Conference. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t play anybody but other Super Conference teams. Make that a division as far as who you play. Like I said, a full-blown playoff. Whether or not the players will be employees, officially, remains to be seen, but I think that’s very likely. I think that’s where it’s heading.
