  1. I think our offensive game plan is going to look a lot like the Michigan game. Run them side to side to wear them out. And, if Bond is healthy, I have confidence we can consistently beat man coverage in the passing game so long as we pick up the blitzes.
  2. You got it backwards. The absolute most important thing you can accomplish in college football is a NC. And Mack delivered one of those and had us a Colt injury away from another. The analogy would be more like "Sure, she raised great children and gave incredible blow jobs for 10 years, but after that she let herself go, stopped trying, and was miserable to be around". The later stuff may be grounds for a divorce. But it doesn't invalidate the important stuff that came before it.
  3. We seemed to clean that up a bit after struggling against Georgia and Vanderbilt.
  4. I have no idea what point you're making. I've never said Mack was perfect. I said I refuse to hate our second greatest coach ever. You can be mad that our program didn't achieve the heights you hoped for or you can enjoy what it did accomplish. Btw, the reason you had those aspirations is because of the standard Mack set his first 12 years as our head coach. It is just ridiculous to ignore that.
  5. Yeah, hating on the two best coaches that Texas ever had is a take. Y'all be a bunch of bitches.
  6. My post was about national championships. And i agree, the struggles against OU caused the lack of conference championships. I never said otherwise.
  7. Yeah, because we won so many championships in the 20 years before Mack.
  8. Nah dog. No time period is going to be perfect. Mack gave us the best seasons of Texas Football over the last 40 years. We were consistently near the top of the rankings until things collapsed a bit after the second National Championship game. We consistently beat aggy. We consistently blew out lower level teams. His teams were clutch in tight games. I'm not going to let unrealistic expectations of perfect ruin my memory of an amazing run for Texas football.
  9. Won in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009. I was at all of those games. I remember them just fine.
  10. No. I remember 2002-2009. I remember two Rose Bowl victories, a Fiesta Bowl victory, and some fun at the expense of Nebraska, LSU, and A&M. I remember him telling his players in 2005 that he didn't want the championship to be the most important thing they ever did. I remember remarkably clutch special teams, from kickers to blocked kicks. I remember beating Nebraska in the snow off the foot of Ryan Bailey. I remember Colt, Shipley, and Quan destroying defenses. I think, like all of us, Mack Brown was flawed. But I don't think everything positive about him was an act or mere rose tinted glasses.
  11. I thought Case was the one that liked to watch from the camera?
  12. How are we going to convince him to run at 50%?
  13. That's probably true. But I'm not going to celebrate Mack getting fired. I wonder if he goes back to ESPN?
  14. I will never hate Mack Brown. Y'all can't make me do it.
  15. Those teams are every bit as talented as we are. And we know they couldn't couldn't go through our schedule with only one loss because they each have at least 2 losses to teams we played. If @Billy Pilgrim meant literally those teams having our players and our schedule, then it was a meaningless post since those teams would just be Texas at that point.
  16. I like talking football. I like watching plays. And yes, watching plays where our backup QB has room to improve is included among that. Hell, for a low light tape, there was a ton positive to take away. Some of those were just missed of tight windows. Some of those he had an open guy in another window that he will need to learn to hit (those Georgia highlights were rough in that regard, some big plays were there to be had). And some of those were just him trying to make something out of nothing and not succeeding. I don't understand taking it personal. It isn't an insult to the kid. And if you did the same thing for Quinn, I'd have the same response. The only difference with Quinn is that I know exactly what I'd see in that tape because we have seen a lot of the same problems over the last 3 years. But if you watched that tape, you'd also see the parts that he has improved on.
  17. I really don't understand this take. Coaches literally do this for training purposes. There is nothing shitty about this because the intent wasn't to be shitty. Y'all have no issues wasting page after page criticizing our starting QB, but then take umbrage at someone actually providing visual context for an opposing comparison. It is just fucking nonsense.
  18. ? If you're just talking just about touchdowns, maybe. But otherwise, no. The one thing we consistently do well is create explosives. Definitions vary, but I think pass plays 20+ yards and run plays 15+ yards are commonly considered explosives. OU - 8 explosives (including TDs of 36 and 43 yards) (61 plays) Georgia - 3 explosives (yuck) (78 plays) Vandy - 7 explosives (including TDs of 27 and 25 yards) (69 plays) Florida - 12 explosives (including TDs of 29, 22, 50, 32, and 34 yards) (64 plays) Arkansas - 4 explosives (including TD of 20) (73 plays) Kentucky - 5 explosives (77 plays) Also, I have us at 5 TDs over 30 yards over the last 6 games, not 4.
  19. I was at that game. It was cold. And it was awesome.
  20. I don't think @Thatguy is saying anything different. He is just responding to folks calling Quinn the worst QB ever. Actually, I will dispute that Quinn has regressed with his deep ball. The throws against Kentucky were a massive improvement. They were catchable. Go look at the 2022 tape. They weren't even close enough for the receiver to try and make a play. If we can catch some 50/50 balls or get a PI call, we are in much better shape on deep balls than previously. Combine that style deep ball, as imperfect as it may be, with Quinn's usually excellence on short and intermediate throws, and you have a tough offense to stop.
  21. You're missing the point. He isn't trying to insult Arch or say he is bad. But Arch is inconsistent right now. And you're the one suggesting Arch is more consistent than Quinn. I don't know how anyone is supposed to refute that except with tape. Arch is going to be good. I don't think anyone here doubts that.
