  1. Flores should have called off Porter Brown. 😀
  2. The School of Journalism ("This is something that is being produced...for the people...and people will listen") and Longhorn Legends pieces are more enjoyable to watch than this baseball team.
  3. I have a buddy who likes to say, "It's not very long, but it sure is skinny." That's Texas baseball this season so far.
  4. Both of Flores' relays to the plate this season have been to the 1st base side. It's either a footwork thing or he's tensing up and his release point is off.
  5. "I'm a ginger who looks like he'd get blown over by a strong gust of wind. I need something to make me look tougher. I know, a tattoo on my pasty white skin." - Shaw
  6. 2 outs and the bases empty, and we give up runs. Amazing.
  7. If the CF couldn't make the throw to home because of his elbow, then does Witt get the RBI?
  8. Make 'em pay for that shit. Pitcher looks like a 32 year old insurance salesman at his daddy's company. LFG.
  9. Schloss is thinking "I have no idea why they're not smoking this guy, but eventually their hitting coach is going to check the in-game thread on Surly and they're going to start sitting on his slider. Better pull him now."
  10. Very, VERY promising outing from Witt. He pitched pretty well overall, got himself out of a jam, and most importantly looked/acted like he felt good. Almost looked cocky, which is a good sign.
  11. It's embarrassing that we can't hammer a guy who can't throw fastballs for strikes. It's like they don't get coached on anything and they're treating each AB as generic. They're still going up there and looking for both pitches. ALL they have to do is sit on the one he's relying on, the slider. Breaking balls are all about where they starts. And you look up the middle or away (for righties) so you're not out in front. You ignore the fastball completely until you have 2 strikes and have to address it. It really is that simple, yet we're just hacking away - swinging at first pitch balls and trying to pull breaking pitches on the outer half.
  12. 2 thoughts for hitters until this guy proves he can throw the fastball for a strike. Look for spin. Starts middle/outer half, lay off. Starts inner half, drive it up the middle or opposite field. (Righties...the opposite for lefties) Don't see spin, take it.
  13. I was going to say the opposite. He can't throw the FB for a strike and is relying heavily on the slider, even on 3-1 and 3-0 counts. It's flat too and we should f'n hammer it. ETA: breaking ball is tailor made for Gaspy's long-ish swing. And he's got the length to drive anything remotely close.
  14. Flores has looked REALLY good at SS. Honestly surprised O'Dowd didn't bobble it, but even managed to turn it. 😄 Witt looks relaxed/confident and that DP really helped him out. Down 2-0, but I see a lot of good things going on.
  15. Righties are going to have to look to take the breaking ball up the middle or opposite field and fight off fastballs as they come. Try to pull everything and this guy will eat us alive with that slider. He'll work to the fastball the next time through the lineup, but that only assumes he can throw it for strikes (he hasn't shown that yet).
  16. Technically/statistically a HBP, but it was ball 4 and he wasn't swinging, so functionally it's the same thing.
  17. Yeah, ball 4 hit him. Worked to a 3-2 count, then got nicked on an inside fastball that they'd say Porter Brown turned into if he was at the plate.
  18. Witt made one bad pitch that cost him. The runner on 1st drew a walk in a pretty good AB. Witt pitched pretty well.
  19. His stuff looks pretty good and he really didn't pitch poorly that inning. Made a bad pitch to a good hitter. If it was a GIDP, nobody would think twice about it.
  20. Really only one bad pitch. Shake it off and burn 'em down in the 2nd.
  21. Ouch. That looks nasty. Guess if you're gonna walk him on 3-2, you might as well go inside. He'll be off the plate next AB.
  22. 95mph fastball and his curveball is 78mph. If he can tunnel and doesn't otherwise tip it, that's significant.
  23. Good to see Holle recognized. I've said it before, but she is often overlooked because her contributions are flashy/attention getting. She plays good defense and has a ton of hustle plays that don't necessarily show up on the stat sheet.
