Delay should work in our favor. Their pitcher's pitch count was going to allow him to throw the lion's share of the game. This should get him off the mound and give us a crack at the bullpen.
It's his "personal brand." It's the natural result of relaxing decades long team rules that fostered a "you play for the team/university, not for yourself" mindset.
Singles and doubles win a lot of games.
Look to take the FB up the middle and anything spinning needs to go to right field. It'll keep them from being out in front of the off speed pitches (coughFlorescough).
What happened to our softball team? Were they over-performing expectations throughout the season and are now reverting to the EV, or is something wrong/has something changed that's causing us to wet the bed?
Could be. The obvious question is are they better hitters because they have a better approach or do they have a better approach because they're better hitters?
And right on cue, Schuess takes a breaking ball up the middle to drive in a run. ("He didn't try to do too much with it. You try to pull that ball and it's a groundout to Aloy.")
And then Gasparino stays back on a breaking pitch and gets 2 more.
Love it. We win when we do this.
Game 1 Highlights - Every hard hit ball on the Arky side except one was something other than a fastball.
Game 2 Highlights - They hit Harrison's flat/no movement FB hard and also a few breaking pitches hard.
Game 3 (so far) - All 3 times, they hammered a breaking ball.
I wonder what they're doing differently that's keeping them from being out in front and swinging/missing like we are.
