  1. Hey look. Someone who actually understands baseball. Glad to have you in the thread.
  2. It pisses me off to no end too, but it's true. If you actually know the game down to the smallest details, it's painfully obvious. I knew we were in trouble after the 1st inning when I saw how we were trying to pitch them and how they were approaching their at-bats. Those AB's had far less to do with LBJ and the hitter(s) than it did coaches' scouting/planning/coaching up. On the flip side, the pitch calling for Holman was brilliant and he executed the plan very well. We refused to let the ball run deep in the zone and go opposite field, so he continued to kill us with the breaking ball on the outer half. In baseball, the smallest things matter. They add up to hits/baserunners, and those add up to runs. Or you can just ignore it and get dominated like we have tonight.
  3. 2 reasons: We don't have the talent and we don't have the coaching. I don't like admitting it, but LSU has a better program than we do, top-to-bottom. There's a reason they got #7 before we did and did it in many fewer CWS appearances. They may get #8 or #9 before we get #7.
  4. Good things happen when you go opposite field, especially when you're struggling against good pitching. Trying to pull everything hurt us in the post-season last year and I was bitching about it then. Nothing has changed.
  5. Holman is a legitimate ace. His stuff isn't as electric as LBJ's, but he is hitting his locations perfectly. Throwing exactly what he needs to throw and the pitch calling has been very good. He was the best pitcher in the portal and of course LSU grabbed him. I doubt he even gave us a thought.
  6. Only Peyton Powell is allowed to go opposite field on the outer half breaking balls.
  7. That's how you get through an inning (minus the BB, but hey). Give him another.
  8. That was high and outside. Never over the plate.
  9. Witt didn't look razor sharp, but he didn't look terrible either. Get him back in there without traffic on the bases where he can pitch from the windup, and he might get us another inning or two.
  10. Runner on 3rd tags and scores if he does. Worked out in our favor.
  11. Hanging breaking balls to Tommy White is unwise.
  12. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about. At all. That's about as nicely as I can put it. I'm not going back and forth with you anymore.
  13. That's because you don't know shit about baseball. No, they aren't counted as runs. They translate into runs though in a lot of ways (fatigue leading to missing location, pitcher pressing, getting to the bullpen, etc.). Kinda like what's happening now.
  14. Announcer: "It's still scoreless, but advantage LSU since Texas' starter is at 80 pitches in the 4th and LSU's is only at 50 through 3." hobbes2702: "It's Friday. That's not how it works."
  15. 78 for LBJ Gaspy looking lost.
  16. Thanks for the info, chief. Bullpen for 5-6 innings vs. bullpen for 2-3 innings. Not at all the same.
  17. That's exactly how it works, especially when it's ace on ace. Pitch count is to baseball what field position and time of possession is to football.
  18. 11 pitch inning for LSU's ace. Score is 0-0, but we're way behind in this game.
  19. Gonna be in the f'n bullpen by the 3rd or 4th inning. Unreal.
  20. Anybody else getting a big message box blocking the screen on this feed? "Can't show it on YouTube, but there is a link in the chat" WTF?
  21. Swinging at balls WAY outside. Gotta do better. They're going to take some pitches. LBJ has got to throw 1st pitch strikes or he's not gonna make it through 4 innings.
  22. This stream is terrible.
  23. 31 of them to be exact. That'll get us 2.5 innings out of him. Fuck.
