  1. So you're saying he's the conference commish version of mensa?
  2. Made the mistake of reading that board a couple of times. Outside of modern NBA fans, I've never seen so much blatant stupidity.
  3. I was thinking the same thing. I'm hoping that means the staff are expecting us to have some kind of edge rush this year, and we just need Sweat to be a brick wall up the middle.
  4. Saw this out and about in London last month and thought about this site. Didn't have anywhere appropriate to post this til now.
  5. I'm really hoping the offense turns out to be as good as we think it can be. Definitely going to need to try to put games away early and "leave no doubt". If we have any Mensa-style single possession battles, I'm fully expecting to get fucked.
  6. It never ceases to amaze me how Okie State manages to fold so reliably in that game, no matter what kind of team OU brings in. Last year, it almost looked like they were throwing the game in spots. It makes Mack vs Stoops in the early 2000s look like the 10 Year War.
  7. Hey! I loved Chad and Kevin and the Scottish guy back in 2004. I was also a junior in high school in 2004 sooo...nevermind? Might be a nostalgia thing for me, but it was still kinda nice hearing familiar voices like Chad, Bucky, and Erin on the air, but if I'm being honest the vast majority of my CFB content is from YouTube nowadays.
  8. All I remember during that 07/08 mess with 1300 is that we were forced to listen to some insufferable dipshit from Michigan for awhile.
  9. Probably for the best, tbh. I knew this place loved its booze, but I didn't realize it was apparently 24 hours a day for some posters. Then I remembered what program we've been supporting for the last decade...
  10. Compare Shipleys 2008 stats after being in college for five years to Worthy's 2021 true fish campaign and tell me how I'm being unreasonable. I see your username, so I guess it's no use arguing with you, as you've clearly seen Worthy's 2023 season already. Do we blow out OU again?
  11. I was attending Texas at that time, so I'm quite aware how good those teams were. I thought we were talking WR rooms only. This WR room has the potential to be deeper and more explosive than 08 or 09. Idk how this is a controversial statement.
  12. Another thing to keep in mind is both Quan and Ship were pretty old for college players in 08/09. Ship should have been catching passes from VY as early as 04 if not for injuries Quan played baseball for a few years before taking a snap at Texas. Despite their massive age advantage, neither Quan in 05 or Shipley in 06, were anywhere near what Worthy was in 21. And Worthy wasn't even at Texas for spring ball iirc. Not taking Quan or Ship for granted, but comparing our current young guys to their last couple of seasons is hardly fair.
  13. I get the affection we have around here for Colt and Ship, but we have a few receivers on our current roster that have first round potential, Ship wasn't that guy. Outside of Quan and Ship, who was our third best WR during that time period? Brandon Collins? Colt and Ship were special college players in the way they went about their business and brought consistency with them every single game, but when talking about generational talent, that's something entirely different. Ewers probably won't be as locked in as Colt was in 08/09 (like the 2014 Spurs, Im not sure it's, humanly possible to be more efficient than Colt was those two years.), but he has more weapons at WR and should damn sure have a better line. He'll also probably make a couple of arm talent plays that Colt couldn't make. Then throw in Sark vs GD and it's pretty clear that on paper, our 23 offense should be miles ahead of 08, and especially 09. That being said, until we actually win hardware, I will continue to expect us to lose 4+ games every year. I can only take so much disappointment.
  14. Bad luck on the year you picked, for sure. We're 2-3 when I attend. Our two victories being whatever you call that bizarro experience that was 2013, and then last year. Last year was so worth it, though.
  15. Tech 08 and the 2001 Big 12 championship on the itinerary for later?
  16. So you're telling me Musk is going to be the coffee boy at another tech company in a few years time? One can only hope...
  17. That's what these dipshits don't get. They had a better coach that didn't fall asleep on the job and try to crater the program on the way out. We hired shitty coaches. There's nothing special about "OU DNA". Well, maybe there is, but not in the way they think.
  18. The arrogance of those meth heads is surprising after last year's beatdown. They really think that this sport doesn't have cycles and that things will always remain the same just because that's the way they have been recently. Gotta suck having college football be the only thing of value in your life. They've gotten way too used to dominating a po-dunk conference that always bent over backwards to give them a leg up because they were the foil to mean ole Texas. I think it's gonna be culture shock for them in the SEC when the entire conference outside of Texas doesn't just roll over for them every year.
  19. Very true. It feels like a lot of our recent one score games have at least been conference games, though. I guess the fact that it was a September game against Tulsa is what made it stick out in my mind so much. It's admittedly a small sample size, but Sark seems to have no trouble handling the non-conference creampuffs at Texas thus far.
  20. Gumps, corndogs, and tenn are guaranteed losses right off the bat. Then you know they're going to drop at least two of the remainder of their schedule, so I'd say they're looking at about 5 losses minimum.
  21. So depressing. I'm having bad flashbacks of Mensa having a one score all-time classic against Tulsa.
  22. I have to say, this o-line recruiting is really starting to make me worry about our overall roster balance. Where are the tall receivers that can't get separation or locate the football?
  23. As more and more money flows into the sport and the stakes get higher and higher, I wonder how many more environments like this we're going to start hearing about from the win at all costs SECSECSEC type schools.
  24. Longtime lurker, but damn if seeing this doesn't bring a tear to my eyes. It reminds me of reading the unit rankings in Athlon/Lindys et al back in the mid 2000s. After fifteen fucking years, a coaching staff has FINALLY bothered to address the O-line. Looking forward to seeing these guys grow!
