  1. Kentucky Owl Confiscated for $60 -- yay or nay? (From what I'm reading online, it seems like $60 is about what it's really worth to most folks.)
  2. Gotta love science experiments in pursuit of good whiskey.
  3. Sampson is a fucking moron for calling that last TO & not having his players foul.
  4. Yep . . . unless they were underage (e.g., 16 y/o) at the time, which is possible -- I've read many accounts of kids who enlisted back in the 1920's and 30's who were under the age of 18. They'd just fib when asked how old they were, and so many people didn't have access to birth records at the time that the military didn't really check closely. But even in that scenario they would be in their late nineties at least. That's why I was somewhat surprised that there are more than 20 people who were apparently military survivors of the attack. That's quite a few folks in their late nineties or over 100 who were on the scene at the time. Bless every single one of 'em.
  5. Iowa Snake has hit their first 8 shots (but did miss a FT).
  6. Understood. But the "couple dozen" figure I mentioned comprised people who, according to the article, were known by the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, which requires that members were military as of 12/7/41 and were on station or within 3 miles of Oahu at the time of the attack, so I assumed that figure referred only to military survivors of the attack. No doubt there are many others, including civilians (such as your friend's mother), who were present at the time attack and are still living.
  7. Although he wasn't on the Arizona, I thought this topic would be a good place to post this article about one of the last remaining Pearl Harbor survivors, who just passed away at the age of 102. I was somewhat surprised that there are apparently still a couple dozen Pearl Harbor survivors with us -- they've all got to be at least 100 or very close to it. Much respect to all of them for their service, and of course the 2,400 or so who did not survive the attack. https://www.yahoo.com/news/one-few-remaining-pearl-harbor-101006368.html
  8. A desk calendar -- how quaint. I see you got entered on the 7th. Congrats on the sex. Those peanut butter patties are my #1. Out here they call 'em Tagalongs. You failed by only getting one box of them.
  9. The original is really good, but I think the Clash probably surpassed it. The urgency is compelling.
  10. Hell, no. Used Cars is hilarious. And remember: Fifty bucks never killed anybody.
  11. Minnesota only had that vet QB (Cousins) for less than half the season. He got hurt in week 8, and the team finished 3-6 without him. Minnesota was starting to gel (back-to-back wins over SF and GB) when he got hurt, so I think they would have finished better than 7-10 had Cousins stayed healthy. But with that said, I think there is a substantial chance that Minnesota does not improve on 7-10 in the '24 season, so your larger point about the future 2nd round pick likely being a relatively high pick in that round is probably going to end up being correct.
  12. That's what it looks like to me as well. I don't think they're picking up a late first round pick in a draft of this type (i.e., solid in terms of depth but unexceptional in the top 20) simply to get another player; rather, they're looking to package and move up to get someone in the top 5 picks or so.
  13. Never saw the movie, but watched the first episode yesterday. While I felt it was a mixed bag in some respects, there was enough good stuff to keep me on board.
  14. Cousins is going to have a lot of weapons.
  15. I suppose it's somewhat a matter of perception, but I think Hunter has been far more inconsistent than Abmas this season. One thing we can agree on is that Terry and this fucking team give the fans a shot to the collective balls on just about a weekly basis. It's maddening.
  16. I would not call him a "mediocre" QB in the years prior to his injury (2018-2022). Rather, he was a good, not great, overall QB. He was probably a top 10 QB in some (if not all) of those years, but not top 5 and not elite. He can't carry a team like Mahomes, Lamar, etc. And that will always be the albatross around his neck. But when you're being voted by your peers to the top 100 pretty much every year, throwing for 4,000+ each season, and throwing 150+ TD passes in five seasons (several of which involved pretty shaky O-lines), you're not mediocre.
  17. John Lennon was a fan of this one. I am too. That means Lennon had great taste. RIP, Mr. Carmen. You wrote some really good ones.
  18. I know -- been a Vikings fan for about 50 years. The key now will be making the correct call on a young QB in the draft. A wrong decision will be an albatross around the neck of the franchise for several years. A good decision that nets the team a good young QB puts this team right back in contention for a division title in '25 or '26. I'm already writing 2024 off because (A) I don't want the team to throw a rookie QB to the wolves by starting him too early and (B) I don't think Darnold has the ability to win games consistently as a starter.
  19. Sam Darnold in a bridge year (which portends a lot of turnovers and pain for Vikings fans) while the rookie first rounder watches and learns. 2024 will not be a fun season in Minnesota.
  20. And it seems that they've all congregated on this thread. Buncha fucking pussies pissing and moaning over one goddam hour of time change.
