  1. For anyone doubting that the extent of aggy delusion and rationalization has any limit whatsoever . . .
  2. Not quite, because I don't hate the Doors and I like The Who. Oh, and the Cardinals can suck it. Aside from that, we can be friends.
  3. At least a few ag posters over on SECRant are blaming the owner of a bar near the stadium that supposedly served those two clowns jello shots during the rain delay, thereby getting them so liquored up that they went off the rails. Yeah, that's it! It's the bar owner's fault! He held a gun to their head and made them take all those jello shots!
  4. Nope to pretty much anything considered "prog rock," so that means the channel gets changed when I start hearing Jethro Tull, Emerson Lake & Palmer, a lot of Yes' catalog, King Crimson, etc. Never got into the Dead (well, Terrepin Station isn't bad), Phish, etc. Did see one Dead show. I'm glad I went just to experience it, but I've never felt the need to see another one. Get thee behind me, hair metal bands (Poison, Ratt, Cinderella, etc.). Same goes for Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. Oh, and except for a couple of their earlier songs, Aerosmith sucks. Mostly I can't stand Steven Tyler.
  5. I'm surprised I'm not on that list. I'm hugely influential. Just ask me.
  6. Or stupid. Or both.
  7. According to aggy, Ewers wanted to go to every school in Texas except UT.
  8. Yeah, this is basically where I'm at. I'm pointing my finger at Congress on the bump stock issue rather than at the Supremes.
  9. Nowell. I have friends in SD who are big Stick Figure fans. Same kinda vibe as Sublime. The kid looks like he's a good front man.
  10. I fly in and out of Burbank quite a bit, where they deplane front and rear. It's great and it spoils you. Makes it frustrating at other airports with front deplaning only.
  11. This article has some good photos and videos relating to the Teton Pass road collapse. Article says Wyoming is scrambling to try to create a detour route, because the road collapse could have a catastrophic impact on tourism in and around Jackson. https://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-adventure/environment/teton-pass-collapse-photos/
  12. The wife and I drove down there after returning from the hike to the green sand beach. It was pretty late in the day, so we were at Punualu'u for only about 30 minutes before we had to leave to drive back to the condo. But there were two turtles on the sand. That was pretty cool.
  13. This Lakers fan is bummed. RIP, Jerry. Nobody ever had a better overall basketball career than you.
  14. I haven't flown SW a ton in the past few years due to COVID, working remotely, reduced # of work trips, etc., but I can tell that it's not operating at the level it did 10 years ago. And that's a shame, because IMO in its prime it beat the pants off most other major carriers in terms of price, convenience and service. That said, I haven't had terrible experiences in my recent SW flights -- instead, things have simply gone from good to meh. I still think SW is useful for quick jaunts from where I live in the LA/Burbank/Ontario area to places like Vegas, Phoenix, Bay Area, etc. For longer trips, I'm typically booking with another airline.
  15. Yep. I was getting ready to kick Chevy's ass but Belushi stepped in between us. BTW, we improvised most of that "pool or pond" scene.
  16. Yeah, but who blew up the whole damn golf course and got away with it? Answer me that . . .
  17. Gee, what ever will the Lakers do? Hurley was the only good coach in the entire universe, for chrissake!!
  18. I did the same thing -- stayed at an AirBnb in Driggs 5 years ago when we hit GTNP -- for the same reasons. I feel for the hospitality workers who use that road daily to get to their jobs. I'm wondering what kind of temporary fixes can be put in place to help both the businesses and workers. The alternative is a long-ass drive.
  19. I was prepared to make a joke in response, but I just couldn't do it. Yeah, I know this is Surly, but . . . As someone who's been to the American cemetery over there, it's pretty sobering when you see all those white crosses -- rows upon rows -- and think of what those boys faced that day.
  20. I am pissed off that work is blowing up & I couldn't follow all the events commemorating the D-Day landings. Never forget the sacrifice.
  21. Reminded me of the Marvin Barnes (legendarily crazy ABA player) "I ain't gettin' in no time machine" story. Google it. For those of you who have been to Mammoth Cave, is one day sufficient to see the highlights?
  22. Garden of the Gods is pretty obligatory. Tour the Air Force Academy. Do the drive up Pikes Peak. Royal Gorge is an easy drive from the Springs. Day trip to the Cripple Creek/Victor area. The Broadmoor's grounds are worth a stop, IMO.
  23. Yep -- stayed at a place we found on VRBO or AirBnb when we went to Kauai, and those roosters were the spawn of Satan with their crowing at 3 a.m. Didn't have any issues recently on the Big Island, though.
  24. Did Kauai 17+ years ago, so my info is obviously dated, but Wailua Falls was cool and Ke'e Beach just before the Na'Pali coast was outstanding. Weather/clouds prevented us from exploring Weimea Canyon -- our one big regret. I also agree with wild turkey in his post above that a copter tour of the Na Pali Coast is worth it. I would do that again or perhaps a boat tour of the Na Pali Coast or both. Macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup at Kountry Kitchen in Kapa'a for breakfast FTW. The wife and I hit the Big Island last month. Mauna Kea is awesome. Rent a 4WD vehicle so that you can go all the way to the top. Just make sure to acclimatize for a while at the visitor's center before doing so. Other highlights include Wai'ipo Valley. Do the tour that take you down to the valley floor. It's a bit like going back in time. Hiked to the green sand beach near the southernmost point of the island (and the entire U.S.) -- one of only 4 such beaches in the world. Volcanoes NP was cool, esp. near Kilauea crater and the drive down to the coast. Just wish we could have seen lava flow. Kaaloa's Super J's in Captain Cook for great down-home plate lunches. Try the lau lau pork.
  25. I always viewed this game with a "win/win" attitude. If Gata wins, that's fine because fuck OU. If OU wins, that's fine b/c it gives Texas an opportunity to slay the giant and get some revenge. Now go get it done, ladies!
