  1. Special teams, esp. Blackwell just killing us
  2. I'm well acquainted with Minnesota's playoff history b/c I've been a fan since the early 70's. 1998 was particularly brutal. Are the Vikings "for real" in the sense that they're a good team this year? I think so. But I'm certainly not saying they'll win the Super Bowl. If they don't beat Detroit next weekend, they'll be a 5 seed and have to go on the road for their first playoff game, which is a potential recipe for a first round loss.
  3. So past performance dictates whether a team is "for real" in the current season. Got it. I don't know how far Minnesota will go in the playoffs. I do know that nobody (including me) figured they would be 14-2 heading into the final week of the season. Not even close. If KOC isn't COY, something is radically wrong.
  4. Not to mention Blaine Nye literally tackling Mark Mullaney at Staubach's feet.
  5. You could say the same thing with regard to Nina Simone. Or B.B. King. Or Hugh Masekela. And probably even Young-Holt Unlimited. The order of artists on that bill was messed up.
  6. USC's QB better learn how & when to slide.
  7. Pretty obvious OOB hit doesn't get called
  8. Won't help. Gotta have a brain first.
  9. The subtitles are gold.
  10. Understood that it doesn't factor in now that the CFP is in place, but from a general perception standpoint it's still useful to shut down moronic aggy fans who still chirp about Texas' supposedly weak schedule. That said, I won't mind if Haynes King plays well, simply because it'll piss off aggy.
  11. You're thinking of the win over klan aggy.
  12. I'll pull for Vandy, not because they're SEC, but because a Vandy win makes the Texas victory over the Commodores earlier this season look even better.
  13. Don't Say No certainly had some hits. And I happen to dig the song Lonely Is the Night in particular. But he put on a really tepid show when I saw him. Corgan has always come off like a raging asshole.
  14. Think it's a reservation-only thing now that is held on certain dates. https://hilo.hawaii.edu/maunakea/kuene/stargazing.php The wife and I went up to Mauna Kea this past May during daylight hours, and we both agreed it was definitely worth it. Doing a nightime stargazing trip would be an awesome experience. Definitely try to acclimate at the visitors center before attempting to drive up to the summit. I've hiked and backpacked at high elevation on numerous occasions in the past with no effects, but going up to Mauna Kea summit sure gave me the dizzies, and that was after spending 1-2 hours down at the visitors center.
  15. Seeing Billy Squier mentioned on the "albums with no bad songs" thread (!) reminded me that he would be on my list of worst concerts I've ever seen. There was a distinct lack of energy and enthusiasm even during his hits. A past-its-prime Nazereth opened. It was pretty bad. Joe Jackson is on the list as well. He seemed to be perturbed that the audience was there. Billy Boy Arnold at Antone's -- apparently he decided that particular date was "act like a jackass day." Who you got?
  16. Well, so could anyone.
  17. Merry Christmas, you assholes
  18. Yeah, "favorite" isn't necessarily the same as "greatest." "Surrender" by Cheap Trick is one of my all-time faves, but I don't think I'd put it in a list of "top 10 rock and roll songs of all time." Then again, maybe I would . . .
  19. He has definitely come on big toward the end of the season, which is great to see. At the start of the season, he was merely okay -- he didn't flash much at all and Lole was definitely ahead of him in the rotation. But Norton has gotten better and better as the season progressed to the point now that he's a force in the middle of the line, particularly against the run. Credit to him, Kenny Baker, and the rest of the defensive staff for his development throughout the season.
  20. It was definitely aggy intelligence. No such thing.
