  1. I take that seriously because if anyone knows boring, it's Canadians. That said, I'm not bored. Then again, I'm a Vikings fan.
  2. Believe me, I could spend WEEKS seeing stuff in and around DC -- all the monuments/memorials, the museums, Civil War battlefields, Ford's Theater, Shenandoah Valley, Annapolis, all the stuff to see in Baltimore, etc., etc., but we'll probably only have a couple days of extra time on this trip because of my wife's work obligations, so unfortunately we won't have time to venture outside of the immediate area. Someday . . .
  3. I suspect that our time that isn't earmarked for the graduation ceremony will probably be spent in that same area, i.e., in and around the Mall -- seeing what we can of the monuments, the Smithsonian, the Capitol, etc., because the wife has never been to DC before and hasn't done all those touristy things.
  4. I need to take some time and review this thread, but in the meantime I could use some advice/recommendations. The wife is finishing up her master's degree at GWU and wants to walk in the graduation ceremony next May, partly because it's held on the National Mall and partly because it makes for a good excuse to take a short trip to DC in mid-May next year. We typically try to rent on Airbnb or VRBO instead of doing hotels, so that's the plan at present, but let me know if you think a hotel somewhere near the Mall would be a better idea. Her daughter will likely come down from NYC to join us that weekend, so doing the Airbnb thing makes sense from that standpoint, too. Assuming we stick with the Airbnb plan, what area(s) in or around DC would you recommend? Which areas should we stay the hell away from? If we decide to go with a hotel, what would you recommend? I'll review the thread for recs on restaurants and bars, but feel free to throw those in as well if you feel inclined. TIA
  5. I think you're right -- just meant that Bellinger was probably the only other player on the roster even potentially in that conversation.
  6. As a Cubs fan, I've got mixed feelings about this trade. On one hand, it's great to get a player who immediately becomes the best player on the team (assuming the Cubs move Bellinger as rumored). And Chicago needed lefty power if they do, in fact, trade Bellinger. OTOH, unless they can extend Tucker, it's probably a one-year rental. I also think Cam Smith is going to be a good player at some point. But to get someone like Tucker, it was going to take a prospect like Smith. Don't be shocked if Paredes, a dead pull hitter, goes for 30+ dingers with that short leftfield distance in Minute Maid. I'd say this one is TBD
  7. You might be thinking of the 2015 Okie State game, where he botched the deep snap late in the game. But we had problems other than Dickson in that game -- the refs being at the top of that list.
  8. This should be getting more love. Banks has been such a big part of this program's turnaround. A very well-deserved award.
  9. This guy previously played at Grand Valley State for several seasons before transferring to LSU this past season. Would be a depth piece at best, but 3 sacks in fairly limited time (74 pass rushing snaps) suggests he may have some juice as an interior rusher.
  10. Well, let's see. The safety has 210 total tackles, six interceptions, 14 PBU, 6.5 TFL, a sack, and two forced fumbles in two seasons. He's got Ohio State and Oregon pursuing him, among others. Yeah, he'd be a terrible addition because he clearly has a losing mentality. The DT has requisite size (330+) and racked up a 71 overall grade (which is pretty good) in '24 according to PFF. He's obviously playing with a losing mentality. The punter averaged about a 45 gross and just under a 42 net on roughly a million punts this past season, so that's a pretty good sample size. I can see Texas passing on the safety not because he isn't a quality player, but simply because it's not particularly a position of need, esp. with McDonald and Filsaime waiting in the wings, Williams coming back after injury, and some hotshit freshmen on the way in. But the other two guys are quality performers at positions of need. They are takes all day, every day in the event they want to come to Texas.
  11. You don't think there can be good players on bad teams?
  12. Dorbah did play quite a bit in 2023 -- 30 total tackles and 6 sacks. He was hurt for part of 2024, which is part of the reason his stats decreased significantly.
  13. With less than 3 minutes left in the first half, SF has 310 total yards. Chicago has 2. That's "two."
  14. In no particular order, I put this loss on Sideshow Bert, Ewers and Sark. Just way too many fucking mistakes. Way too many penalties. Way too many turnovers.
  15. Bless his heart -- that guy is the very definition of "aggy homer." He is a big reason why the rollercoaster is already back on the upswing. I can only hope he keeps pumping out articles, because I need the laughs. Still waiting for his current ranking of SEC teams. It's very strange that it's taking him so long to publish it this week for some reason.
  16. When the O-line is good enough to finish out games by running the ball down the throats of defenses that know we're going to run the ball (see, e.g., the A&M game, the Arkansas game, Bama in '23, etc.) -- something we never saw in prior years -- then I'd say the O-line coach is pretty good.
  17. Kenny Clark flexes after a tackle 7 yards downfield, & then Det picks up the 1st down by sneaking it right over him. Not a good look.
  18. And he wasn't the only one wrecking shop on that play. Check out the rest of the D-line on that play, esp. Broughton and Norton. Frankly, the aggy RB wouldn't have scored even if Burke hadn't made the play.
