  1. I think it’s cute that people think CDC made any of these decisions. You are right, that folks attention span these days is short. Any blowback would have lasted maybe a week. I’m my view they made one mistake and then compounded it by making another.
  2. Yes, because Eltife will have to acknowledge he was wrong.
  3. I take his hire as tOSU buying his explanation that no one was letting him do his job and all the dysfunction was caused by other stupid people making these stupid decisions. Think about it. They would have to believe that these weren’t actions initiated or carried out by him. But the best part is that obviously they found it in character for A&M and totally believable.
  4. I don’t know much about it but I’ve had probably @ 6-8 people tell me they have been super happy with theirs.
  5. Not arguing with you but the same argument will be made if we fire him before three losing seasons. We could miss the tournament, fire him and then be criticized for not giving him a chance. He’s probably here for three years no matter what.
  6. I think you are right about that but I also think a lot of people didn’t want to express an opinion as several posters (not you to my recollection) were pretty aggressive about calling those who would have kept him as being pro domestic violence.
  7. You left out the part where he was actually considering Vivek
  8. Seeing these interviews with Iowa caucus goers make me believe that the education of the electorate is not very good there.
  9. In 1985 or so I went into a music store that was going out of business and used $225 that had saved from cutting grass to buy a brand new sunburst MIJ E-Serial Number Strat. I had no idea how to play guitar at that point nor what it was I was buying. I just thought it looked good. I hauled that guitar around with me for the next thirty years. It was beautiful and really well made. The neck and rosewood board was perfect. I think it was called something like a Contemporary Strat. When I finally learned how to play I ended up getting rid of it because it had a locking string thing above the nut and one of those 1980 dive bomber trem/bridge things that screamed hair metal. But, the quality of that guitar was great in every respect and would buy another one from that period with a traditional set up in a heartbeat.
  10. I agree except with the “deserved to get a shot part”. Anyone else with the exact same resume and circumstances from another school would have never been considered for our vacancy. I get that minds differ on this but it just grates me that we had to settle for such a predictably terrible hire because of PR and outside pressure.
  11. Eltife is the one who needs to learn from his mistakes. He pretty much runs everything. CDC probably gets too much credit and too much blame when it comes to coaching hires in football and basketball.
  12. Yeah, I don’t see them letting him go after only one year. Part of the pressure they caved to was from the former players. But, I do know that there is some concern about what’s going on with the Moody crowd. There was apparently some heartburn about how many Tech fans were able to get tickets. They are worried about it becoming the Erwin Center.
  13. Both can be true. I think that with better coaching this team should be performing better despite not having a point guard.
  14. It just like Beard’s incident would have been all but forgotten.
  15. Worse than the team he’s putting out there? Worse than the team will be next year? No thanks. I get what you are saying but it’s a trade off I would not make.
  16. Yes we don’t have a true point guard but this group of players should be better than they are. Coaching is the problem. Do you really think these guys would be playing as poorly on defense if Beard was still coach? I don’t.
  17. I’ve taken an interest in Huey T. Long. Really fascinating for those who might not know that he ran Louisiana as an authoritarian state. He actually held the office of Gov and Senator at the same time. He was primed to run against FDR and by all accounts was on his way to having a significant chance of becoming president. Essentially, maybe the only reason we aren’t already there is because he was gunned down. What I found interesting is that the mass movement he mobilized fizzed out after his death. It remained in Louisiana but this guy had expanded his movement nationwide.
  18. I just looked up Skyline chili and I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.
  19. I contend that Barnes became too nice. I preferred the guy who nearly got in a fistfight with Dean Smith.
