  1. He was on my intramural football team. He was terrible and used to get pissed when we would show up drunk and perform better than him.
  2. Maybe. I have tried a lot of civil cases to verdict in Texas and other states and I think the plaintiff's attorneys were pedestrian at best and the judge was terrible. If possible, go back and watch their closing. AJ's attorney had no business handling a civil case. He was in way over his head. Given the posture of the case even a shitty lawyer could have gotten the same result. Non trial lawyers may have been shocked at how the judge dressed down AJ but that was nothing compared to some of the things I have seen. In fact, I have seen a judge stop the trial when it was obvious a witness was not telling the truth and call the District Attorney to come down and observe the rest of the proceedings. The fact that the lawyers almost got into a fist fight tells me that none of them were afraid of the judge. Understand that some others may not agree but just my two cents.
  3. Underwhelmed by all the lawyers and judge in this case. Also proves that (just like Trump) our system is based upon everyone playing by the rules. When they don’t, the system can’t handle it. This verdict is a win for Jones. Austin juries are terrible and so are the judges down at the courthouse. How do you think Sparks would have handled these idiots? A lot better than this judge.
  4. I think he did not know the civil rules nor understood how the other side would use it.
  5. It has always amazed me that Texas Republicans would support something like this but oppose a pregnant mother recovering in a civil lawsuit for an injury causing the death of her unborn baby.
  6. Texas Pro Tax got mine reduced by over $200K at TCAD. Still not under the cap. I really think it is a mistake to not protest every year. The cumulative effect of not doing it really screws you.
  7. The original slut shammers.
  8. Yeah, telling college students that they were going to hell for fornicating was a real winner. Wasted so much time listening to people heckle them over on West Mall.
  9. This guy is such a POS. His Opus Day ass needs to be taken to the mat over his bs reliance on executive privilege and atty client privilege in furtherance of a crime.
  10. That is why Texas has turned into a fucked up place to live. Just like continuing to vote for crooks like Ken Paxton. Fuck all of them.
  11. I live in Austin so I don’t see any ads but I hope at some point several millions of dollars are spent running up Hot Wheel’s negatives. Maybe that’s happening elsewhere but I don’t really see any of it except online. Every old person in the state should be made to feel like they will die alone from not having power in the winter or summer if Abbott is re-elected. Republicans have no problem winning through fear. My team hasn’t quite figured out how to do that yet.
  12. Just tuned into the stream. This is a shit show.
  13. Anybody got a name on this “preacher”?
  14. Along with every stupid mother fucker who "wants to do their own research". I used to think we had an education problem in this country and we do. But we also have a huge mental health problem with all these nuts.
  15. Who worry too much about what everyone else is doing when they should just mind their own fucking business. Go read the speech that smug asshole Alto gave in Rome. And he wonders why religion is on the decline in the US. It's because of pricks like him being a terrible representative for it.
  16. Dunning-Kruger effect, in psychology, a cognitive bias whereby people with limited knowledge or competence in a given intellectual or social domain greatly overestimate their own knowledge or competence in that domain relative to objective criteria or to the performance of their peers or of people in general.
  17. I have no problem with God. What I do have a problem with are those people who think they know what God wants.
  18. Sounds like a great fallback option...
  19. Don't forget back in the day how much real estate was taken up with just bookstores. Coop, Wallaces, Bevo's, Texas Textbooks. The demise of the bookstore really changed the landscape. In the early to mid 80's I was on the Drag in some fashion every day. Still have my Record Exchange albums with the labels on them. Was kind of proud that I knew all the Drag Worms that were featured in Slacker. I contrast that with my kids who just use it as a cut through to campus. The only place I have heard them mention was the dollar pizza place. They tell me that Abel's is closing for a condo development. West Campus and the Drag have become home to a lot of young, angry and homeless people. It's not exactly the best place to hang out after dark.
  20. And add Quackenbush's and the Wooten Barbershop (now closed) and you are right.
  21. Never heard of them before today. Read some articles about them but don't understand who they were pissing off other than nut jobs who think they are Satanic?
