  1. I'll call it rust for quinn, he'll shake it off. OU actually looks panicked to me on offense.
  2. OU's offense looks really, really anxious on every play
  3. That was actually something I always appreciated about Mack Brown. It was basically automatic that we'd defer if we won the toss.
  4. I will always love Sam Ehlinger. What a longhorn.
  5. I have had a very rough time lately. Don't want to get into why or explain things. I just really, really need something to cheer me up. I'm really hoping my texas longhorns can give me something to cheer for today.
  6. When I'm working on complex projects, I like to listen to orchestral music from various shows that keep me going when I hit a wall. For the past few years, this song in particular from For All Mankind has been my instant inspiration fuel: I love the droning backing of the song, which provides a steady march. I love how the song builds and builds to the crescendo. I love the name of the song, "what we can build," in the context of the show and the way humanity comes together for greatness. This song inspires me. "No time for caution" is another great one. Do or die moment in the movie, the moment the drum line kicks in everything is on the line. "Cooper, it's not possible." "No, it's necessary." Fuck yes. The Halo Jump scene from Metal Gear Solid 3 might be my favorite opening in a video game ever. The song, "Virtuous Mission" starts real slow, until the bay doors open and Snake is watching the russian forest below him rushing at great speed, thows his cigar down, and is told to "spread your wings and fly." Awesome, awesome stuff. What are some songs that keep you going when things get hard?
  7. Sitting in the OU side when Texas wins is fucking awesome. Wear your burntest orange.
  8. I hate that we never post this shit to youtube, only twitter. EDIT: Fuck I love that shot of Ehlinger throwing up the horns. He always played his best against OU.
  9. Yeah, in software, its well known that every extra bit of effort you ask of the end user drastically reduces the amount of people who will complete the task. It's actually at the heart of that whole google sideloading issue that went to court recently, where Epic could show with hard numbers the amount of users they would be blocked from reaching by simply making sideloading opt-in instead of opt-out. Literally any barrier, no matter how seemingly small, sheds a lot of people when extrapolated to the whole population. There really is no such thing as a small obstacle.
  10. Also, in my experience, the general public is absolutely terrible at being able to fill out even simple forms correctly.
  11. isn't basically everything that "Make america great again" woman complaining about a state issue, not a federal one?
  12. It really does all blur together into one astonishing mess. At some point it just becomes drops of water in the ocean, which is why all these news drops barely move the needle if at all anymore.
  13. I was telling someone the other day that the shit Trump did when he first took office where he tear gassed the protestors at the church live on tv then walked over and held up the bible would have been the political scandal of the entire century for any other president. With trump, the majority of people have completely forgotten it, including the person I was talking to who had no recollection at all about it.
  14. I honestly think this is a case of having your nose too close to the subject. You and I are people who will spend our time seeking out and talking politics on a sports board. We are the sort of people who realize politics is in everything, and it's obvious to us. But a huge percentage of people don't ever see it. Ever heard someone old say something dumb like "Star Trek is woke now!" without a hint of irony? They're not being obtuse, they're honestly that ignorant. I'll give another frame of reference to my dad's perspective, he told me about this dude he knew when he was a carpenter who would watch cspan all the time, and his perception was "that guy was always pissed off, and would tell me 'don't watch or it'll just make you mad.'" So my dad took his advice literally and wouldn't watch.
  15. My dad wasn't paying attention to pat buchanans or any of that shit. He was putting himself through night school while working long days as a carpenter raising 3 kids and paying off his house. My dad didn't listen to politics radio, he was listening to the Eagles. He wasn't watching Fox News, he was playing baseball with his sons. Believe it or not, there's a percentage of the population who doesn't follow politics AT ALL because they do other shit. My dad grew up when the perception of democrats in the south were the same people enforcing Jim Crow. Then he went to Vietnam. And then he came back and basically never updated his political views again until Biden ran for office. I don't know how in the world that sounds unbelievable. It is precisely that my dad retired just as Biden was running in 2020 that he finally had time to sit down and pay attention. And he's adjusted his views accordingly. He said he was holding his nose in 2020, but now in 2024, he's full on flag-waving on board, putting his money where his mouth is. The republicans have Donald Trump to blame.
  16. look up dixiecrats. He became a republican after he returned from vietnam.
  17. my dad donated $30 to the galveston county democratic party. I cannot say enough how surreal this is, not just that he's actually donating to a political party, but that is the democrats at that! My dad was an apathetic republican by default for decades, voting was just a rote ritual for him where he'd go and check the republican downticket without even knowing who was running. He grew up in the era of dixiecrats in jim crow era houston where his deeply brown ass couldn't go into whites only washrooms and stuff. The Republicans hitching their wagon to Donald Trump will ultimately backfire when examined through the lens of history, because this is a generational shift. They are driving away a previously pacified base and giving them a reason to pay attention, which does not favor the republicans one bit.
  18. Real talk Kamala has to be up there. Her speeches since Biden dropped out have been fucking bangers. Her speaking skills are incredible.
  19. to clarify, Elon hates transpeople, because he hates his own children.
  20. THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT. THE ENTIRE POINT OF TRUTH SOCIAL WAS DONALD TRUMP SAYING "FUCK IT, I'LL BUILD MY OWN AND EVERYONE WILL FOLLOW" AND NOBODY FOLLOWED. DONALD TRUMP DOESN'T BRING IN THE RATINGS.
