  1. I for one think Ewers will be grateful that he gets a couple of weeks rest and can come back 100% right before the gauntlet of OU and Georgia, and doesn't have to worry about some small team twisting his ankles in a scrum or something. We have two Heisman-caliber QBs, we would be fucking stupid not to use them like this.
  2. Slurp slurp slurp https://fansided.com/posts/looking-at-you-texas-has-a-team-ever-joined-a-conference-and-won-in-its-first-year-01j7qebef5ga
  3. Texas isn't consensus number 1, but the last time was November 1st, 2008.
  4. Assuming they sit Ewers next week -- and they absolutely should, we don't need him getting injured against ULM -- do you think Archie, Peyton, and Eli will come to Austin for Arch's first start for #1 Texas? You can probably also thank Colt McCoy for Arch Manning. Arch apparently became a Longhorn fan very early on, there are pics of him in elementary school wearing UT clothes and a video of him a kid with other football players being asked where they want to play college ball at, and he says he'll be the QB for the University of Texas. He would have apparently gotten this love for UT football at an early age by riding the last waves generated by Colt McCoy at Texas, Manning was born Colt's first year on campus.
  5. Fuck Nebraska forever and their REDemption asses. I'm glad the first thing they heard on their "resurgence" season was Colt McCoy's voice.
  6. I don't know who the fuck Arch looks like. I have never seen a QB throw multiple 50+ yard TD passes and run for a nearly 70 yard TD run in the same game and score 2 TDs in 3 plays before. He doesn't look like anybody else, not even his uncles.
  7. FWIW San Antonio should have an NFL team IMO. But Austin doesn't need that shit, the University of Texas holds more prestige in the sport anyways.
  8. San Antonio is bigger than Austin and they UTSA is a div-1 team. But of course Texas is more popular by far.
  9. In retrospect it makes so, so much sense to grab a coach like Sark for a program like Texas where we both were. Texas, knocked from the top, down for a decade, starving to get back, with a coach on the exact same journey. Everybody pulling in the same direction. Both the exit of the big 12 and entrance to the SEC gave the team enormous goals to strive for, which wouldn't allow people to rest on their laurels at any point. It still hasn't set in that we're going to see this level of QB play for at least *THREE MORE YEARS* Just think of all the next all-star QBs currently freshmen and sophmores in highschool who are watching this. Sark hasn't missed on a QB going all the way back to Matt Leinart.
  10. Grabbing Elko would be like getting 3 defensive analysts in one body!
  11. I think it's as simple as Texas picked the best upcoming coach in the SEC and gave him 4 years to prepare, like fucking batman. Guy was the protégé is of the greatest coach in football history, who had his ego destroyed a decade prior and was hungry to get back on top. I read a book called "Horns!" in 2006 and there's a moment where Deloss Dodds talks about how a smart CEO would view a conference change as a moment where they can supercharge their program, and used the SWC->Big12 swap to do just that. CDC and Sark have pulled off the exact same move with the SEC. Texas is fucking humming right now. because pooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooor aggy
  12. My favorite part of this gif is how he's puffing on the rillo the entire time
  13. I like how the 8 true bluebloods of college football are clearly out in front from the rest of the pack with a large gap between them and the others.
  14. If Mizzou hadn't shit the bed the week before, they likely would have been #1 going into that game, and we would have faced two #1s back to back. And Texas *DESTROYED* Mizzou that game. Probably the single greatest 2-game stretch I've ever seen out of Texas.
  15. It was fucking surreal seeing a manning slinging it at DKR like that. I remember being amazed watching Payton Manning at Texans games when I was in highschool.
  16. Not a single person in all of college football that I'd want more as a head coach right now, not even Saban. Un-fucking-real how Sark has gotten this done so far. The perfect coach to lead Texas into the SEC. What a fucking hire.
  17. Meanwhile USC is stuck with Lincoln Riley and Oklahoma with Brent Venables lmfaooooo
  18. We were ranked #1 in the first BCS standings of 2005 (aka the actual standings that counted) during the week of October 24th.
