  1. So many questions...
  2. So much #winning https://www.newsweek.com/us-hits-highest-layoffs-since-covid-2111794 US layoffs surged in July to their highest level since the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. In July, there were 62,075 job cuts announced, according to a report by outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas. That's a 29 percent jump from June and 140 percent higher than the 25,885 announced in July 2024. The July figure is well above the post-pandemic average for the month (23,584 between 2021 and 2024) and slightly higher than the past decade's July average of 60,398. It pushes the 2025 total to 806,383 layoffs—a 75 percent increase compared with the same period last year and already 6 percent higher than all of 2024. It's the highest January-to-July figure since 2020, when pandemic shutdowns drove layoffs above 1.8 million. The surge in layoffs in 2025 is due to a mix of government downsizing, corporate restructuring and the growing effects of artificial intelligence. Public agencies, tech firms and retailers are leading the cuts. "We are seeing the federal budget cuts implemented by DOGE impact nonprofits and health care in addition to the government. AI was cited for over 10,000 cuts last month, and tariff concerns have impacted nearly 6,000 jobs this year," said Andrew Challenger, a senior vice president and labor expert at Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
  3. Someone on Reddit said they saw the dude walking on Far West at 9am yesterday morning. Safe to assume he was probably homeless, probably getting kicked out of the house for repeatedly assaulting family members. Dude is a piece of shit. Just shoot his ass and save taxpayers money.
  4. Is this the incident? https://www.khou.com/article/news/crime/police-austin-robber-threatens-pregnant-mom-toddler/285-148771735
  5. Followed up post said he went to her apartment. The police there confirmed that she was dead. That fucking sucks. I'm still do not know what led to the shooting. Did he shoot people in the store, in the parking lot, trying to steal cars trying to get away, all the above?
  6. Fuck Garza. Which one? Both tacos.
  7. At least Church's *sometimes* has fried chicken with flavor. The most frustratingly well cooked, obnoxiously bland, fried chicken is Bush's. All of them have great fried chicken. Crunchy. Cooked well. BUT that shit is the most bland friend chicken on Earth. It's like they sourced the chicken from some whitewashed, vapid, soulless, bland as fuck Dallas suburb. That shit could be sooo good if they just knew that spices exist. Maybe he should have shot the chefs who create Bush's recipe.
  8. In a Reddit thread, the shooter was over by Church's trying to flag down cars for a ride. I guess he took matters into his own hands and car jacked.
  9. If you are going to shoot people, dress like you're going to a luau. https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/multiple-killed-hurt-in-north-austin-shooting/ Two people died and two others are hurt after a shooting at a Target in north Austin Monday afternoon, according to a news flash sent to Austin City Council and the mayor obtained by KXAN. Austin Police said the suspect is still at large, a social media post said, and will hold a media briefing. Austin police said the shooting occurred at the Target located at 8601 Research Boulevard, just before 3 p.m., the post said. The suspect is described as a white male possibly wearing khaki shorts and a Hawaiian/floral shirt. Police urged the community to stay away. “DO NOT APPROACH. For your safety avoid the area,” police said. APD also said the 8000 block of MoPac southbound frontage road is shut down between Executive Center Drive and Anderson Lane.
  10. Trump: How do I get people to stop talking about me being a piece of shit pedo? Advisors: Invade DC!
  11. Question. Are insecure, whiny ass, little brother syndrome aggy writers a product of aggy dipshit culture or do they create and reinforce the insecure, whiny ass, little brother culture?
  12. Arch is going to kick so much ass that people are going to fuck in the stands during the games so that they can be the first in their families to name their future son Arch.
  13. Houston ballet is world renowned. It's not ABT or NYC but it has the 4th largest budget in the US. I knew a young lady who danced there. She trained in NYC. Also if you haven't done so, the Alley Theater is great for watching plays. It's not Broadway but it's the best live theater in Texas.
  14. Austin food sucks. Most of the restaurants try to be Instagram worthy, which is to say they insist upon themselves. All are overpriced and most are mediocre at best in quality.
  15. Here's a great summary of just some of the places. Don't get me wrong, I hate Houston but don't disparage the art scene in Houston. It's world class. https://www.travelandleisure.com/culture-design/visual-arts/houston-art-museums-kinder-menil-turrell-rothko
  16. The Menil has one of the best collections of modern art that most museums would kill for. Also the surrounding area has some amazing galleries which showcase current artists and their works. If you area only going to the MFA, you are missing out on a ton of other great art.
  17. Yay, more transportation bonds to add to the never ending affordable housing/help the homeless bond and help AISD bond because the state rapes 1/2 of the AISD tax revenue to pay for the rest of Texas' bullshit.
  18. To me, the Arts and great food (quality and diversity) are unmatched. I miss the Houston Ballet, the Alley Theater for plays, and art at the Menil, MFA and many galleries in the area. When I lived in Houston off Alabama and Shepard, I spent way too much time at the Museum district, West U, and wasting the weekend days away on the lawns of the Menil and Rothko Chapel. If I had to move back to Houston, I'd live in that area and never go outside 610. I have family in the Houston burbs. We still make it a point to visit the Museum district when we visit them. Museums and lunch/dinner at Goode Co Seafood on Westpark/Kirby is a great day in Houston.
  19. All these dipshits who voted because unisex restrooms scared them and immigrants taking jobs they wouldn't ever do are finding out that the piece of shits don't give a fuck about them. Fuck off, you enabled these cumstains to fuck America.
  20. All this costume sex talk led to this.
  21. Funny. Japan's population is accelerating in its decline, but there is anti immigrant Japan First movement that is catching on. Uhhh, me thinks immigration is the least of their concerns. Immigration may be the only thing that saves that country from ceasing to exist in 100 years. Not surprisingly, the Japan First movement is being linked to Russia propaganda. Old people everywhere are just fucking stupid. Dumb, old people are Putin's wet dream. https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/japanese-population-sees-record-drop-025259023.html The population of Japanese nationals fell by a record amount -- more than 900,000 people -- in 2024, official data showed, as the country battles to reverse its perennially low birth rates. While many developed countries are struggling with low birth rates, the problem is particularly acute in Japan where the population has been declining for years. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has called the situation a "quiet emergency", pledging family-friendly measures like more flexible working hours and free day care to try and reverse the trend. Advertisement Last year, the number of Japanese fell by 908,574, or 0.75 percent, to 120.65 million. The decline -- for a 16th straight year -- was the largest drop since the survey began in 1968, the internal affairs ministry said Wednesday. Foreign resident totals, however, were at their highest since records began in 2013. There were 3.67 million foreigners as of January 1, 2025, representing nearly three percent of the whole population in Japan, which was more than 124.3 million as of that date. The overall population of the country declined by 0.44 percent from 2023. The latest figures come as the government struggles to raise stubbornly low birth rates, while frustration over inflation and other concerns among some voters prompted the rise of a new opposition party with a slogan of "Japanese First".
  22. Hadn't thought of that. I was just thinking these are dudes who can go anywhere. When they realize they have to actually live in Lubbock, they are going to re-evaluate their life decisions. Or if they produce, they'll want to move to a bigger program for more money and better draft standing.
  23. Sooooo.......I didn't see this in the news. The dude who shot up mid-town a few weeks ago was supposedly gunning for the NFL offices. HOWEVER, one of his victims was Wesley LaPatner. Who is Wesley LaPatner? She was the CEO of Blackstone's “Real Estate Income Trust” (BREIT) division. BREIT owns hundreds of thousands of housing and rental units in the USA. I think they are THE largest owner of housing in the housing, all rental properties. Just a coincidence? Wrong place, wrong time?
