The families got no justice. Not sure if they ever saw a penny from the civil suit. He looked like he lived his years carefree and with plenty of money.

Good news. Watson is running for re-election. I can't name one fucking thing that was accomplished from his current tenure. I guess the good news is that he didn't open the city to become a giant homeless camping free for all. Our expectations are real low at this point. Campaign slogan: "I haven't done shit. Please re-elect me!" https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/get-things-done-austin-mayor-kirk-watson-officially-announces-run-for-reelection/ AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Mayor Kirk Watson is officially running for reelection, he announced Wednesday. The mayor had previously told KXAN that was his intent. “It was always the plan to run for reelection. It’s just that I also wanted to get some things done that needed to be done — in my view — to keep up our momentum at city hall,” Watson said in an interview with KXAN prior to the announcement. One of those things, finding a permanent city manager. “We landed that plane and taxied it to the gate last week and so it’s now time to move on to other things.”

https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/sierra-leone-declares-emergency-after-addicts-dig-up-graves-to-get-high-on-drug-made-from-human-bones-5403843 A psychoactive drug crafted from human bones is leaving addicts in the West African country of Sierra Leone digging up graves in order to get their fix. According to the BBC, this haunting menace has forced Sierra Leone to declare a national emergency. Police officers in Freetown are guarding cemeteries to thwart the disturbing practice of exhuming skeletons for the "Zombie" drug production. Notably, the drug, dubbed "kush", is made from a variety of toxic substances, with one of its main ingredients being ground-up human bone. The narcotic first emerged in the West African country around six years ago. According to the outlet, it induces a hypnotic high which can last several hours. The drug has become a widespread problem and dealers have reportedly turned into grave robbers, breaking into thousands of tombs to steal skeletons to keep up with the demands.

[Remains Found] Caleb Harris, the disappearing A&M CC kid
crash_davis replied to immamac's topic in Daily Texan
Didn't the Texas State kid disappear during the Icestorm or an inclement weather thing? Fog? Theory is he got lost/stuck in his car on his way back home in Luling, got out of the car, and wandered off road, got lost in some field, and died somewhere. The car was found just a block from the turn onto 183. -

Don't only bring a nerf gun to a nerf gun flight. This is a real America, Fuck Yeah! story. Fucking tragic except stupid shit with guns happens pretty much everyday. In what other country would a teenager 1. have free access to a hand gun and 2. pull it out during nerf gun fight to "look cool". Porn corrupts the mind and must be banned but guns are symbols of mah freedum. Fucking pathetic. https://www.12news.com/article/news/local/valley/13-year-old-dies-phoenix-teen-pulls-out-real-gun-during-nerf-gun-fight/75-34106ecc-afef-479e-af3b-790a2f2ab357 PHOENIX — A 13-year-old boy was fatally shot Sunday in Phoenix after a young man pulled out a firearm while playing with toy guns, police said. Earlric Reynolds sustained a fatal gunshot wound while he and Adolfo Villalva, 18, were playing with Nerf guns yesterday afternoon near 7th Avenue and Hatcher Road. Villalva allegedly told police he pulled out a real gun during the game and mistakenly fired the weapon at the 13-year-old, police said. Villalva and others then moved Reynolds to the apartment complex's parking lot and Villalva hid the firearm before officers arrived on scene. Reynolds later died at the hospital. Court records show Villalva allegedly told investigators his mother keeps a gun under the seat of her car. The teenager allegedly took the gun and placed it in his pocket because it "looked cool." Villalva indicated he was handling the Nerf toy gun and the real gun at the same time while playing around with Reynolds. While pointing both objects at the 13-year-old, Villalva said he pulled what he thought was the toy's trigger but actually pulled the firearm's trigger. Police have taken Villalva into custody and he's facing charges of manslaughter and evidence tampering.

Benjamin Franklin: 'Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days.' Mei Huang Wolfe: 'Guests, like fish, need to die after three days.' https://www.ibtimes.sg/texas-judges-wife-allegedly-shoots-nephew-dead-overstaying-his-welcome-their-home-74168#google_vignette The wife of a Texas judge has been charged with murder after allegedly fatally shooting her nephew. Mei Huang Wolfe, the 48-year-old wife of Harris County Justice of the Peace Bob Wolfe, was arrested and charged with murder on April 5, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared on X (formerly Twitter). The fatal shooting happened at the Wolfes' home on April 4 around 10 p.m., a spokesperson for the Harris County Sheriff's Office revealed to People. Officers responded to the scene after Bob called 911 to alert authorities that his wife had shot his nephew during a dispute, police said. Medical personnel attempted to treat the nephew, identified by police as 40-year-old James Wolfe II, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Bob was home when the incident occurred, along with the nephew and Mei Huang's adult daughter, police confirmed to ABC affiliate KTRK-TV. According to the sheriff's office, the argument was part of "ongoing feud" between the nephew and Mei Huang while both of them lived in the house. "The ongoing issues between the two concluded this evening after the suspect retrieved a weapon and pointed it at the complainant and fired one shot striking him in the upper torso," police told People in a statement. "Her husband had attempted to stop her and to get the gun away from her but was unsuccessful." Shortly after James' death, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez used preliminary information to determine that the dispute had occurred because Mei Huang felt he had overstayed his welcome in her and Bob's home. "It may have been a situation where the female homeowner felt that he wasn't welcome anymore and a disturbance broke out over that," the sheriff said, according to CBS affiliate KHOU. -

Who could've imagined this bastard would sell paternity tests which he knew provided inaccurate results? https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/paternity-tests-dna-1.7164707 Canadian DNA lab knew its paternity tests identified the wrong dads, but it kept selling them Harvey Tenenbaum, the owner of Viaguard Accu-Metrics, told a CBC producer with a hidden camera during a conversation in his office that prenatal paternity test results that his laboratory produced for about a decade were "never that accurate." The hidden camera conversation unfolded in the midst of a months-long CBC News investigation into a years-long pattern of erroneous results produced by Viaguard's non-invasive prenatal paternity testing. The test — if done correctly — matches DNA from a fetus that is in a mother's blood with the biological father's DNA. Viaguard, based in Toronto, sold its prenatal tests through various related online storefronts with names like Prenatal Paternities Inc. and Paternity Depot. "The test was not that accurate…. And we're leery of that test now," said Tenenbaum. Viaguard claimed to use a common prenatal paternity test commercially available to the public since about 2014. Experts say it is highly accurate, if conducted properly. A non-invasive prenatal paternity test, it matches thousands of genomic data points — known as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) — in the fetal DNA, which flows in the mother's blood, with thousands of SNPs in the father's DNA. However, Tenenbaum seemed to rely more on guesswork than science when handling at least some prenatal paternity tests, former employees alleged in interviews with CBC News. Sika Richot worked for nearly three months answering phones for Viaguard in 2019. Richot said she was coached to ask women seeking prenatal paternity test kits about times in their menstrual cycles and the dates they had intercourse with different men — information that is useless for a DNA test. Sika Richot worked for nearly three months answering phones for Viaguard in 2019. Richot said she was coached to ask women seeking prenatal paternity test kits about times in their menstrual cycles and the dates they had intercourse with different men. (Rachel Houlihan/CBC) Staff put the dates into an online ovulation calendar to narrow down the possible biological father, she said. Richot then entered the information into a form that went to Tenenbaum for signoff. "[Tenenbaum] would always make a comment like: 'It's definitely this one [the biological father]. It's this one, it's got to be this one,'" said Richot. Samantha Friday, who also answered phones, worked there for slightly more than a year. She said Tenenbaum micromanaged all laboratory operations. "It sounds horrible to say, but it was kind of like … get me my money. That was it. Just kind of get me my money," said Friday. "I think anyone who has had their DNA done for whatever purposes in the Toronto lab should probably consider redoing them." Mayer received a prenatal paternity testing kit from Viaguard in the mail. She was documenting her pregnancy for a school project and a friend filmed her as she pricked her finger with a lancet and squeezed drops of blood into a vial. Then, she secured the inner-cheek buccal swab from the man she believed was the father, packed the sealed samples, put them in a box and sent them in the mail to Viaguard. The test result said the man she tested wasn't the father. She sent a second set of samples to Viaguard from a different man. This time, the results said he was the match. After the birth of her daughter, the presumed biological father demanded a postnatal paternity test. Mayer agreed and turned to Viaguard again. This time, the result said he wasn't the biological father. "You know when you're just so hysterically upset, you laugh like you're just beyond emotion?" said Mayer. "There's no way that this is real." A months-long CBC News investigation found a years-long pattern of erroneous results produced by Viaguard Accu-Metric’s non-invasive prenatal paternity testing. (Ousama Farag/CBC) Two months after the birth, another laboratory determined the man Mayer first tested, the one Viaguard said was a zero per cent probability of a match, was her daughter's actual biological father. Viaguard still does business. On its website, it offers postnatal paternity and maternal DNA tests, along with DNA bird sexing, bait to sterilize mice and rats, and dog DNA breed testing. It runs websites selling treatments for foot fungus and dementia while operating virtual storefronts under names like Paternity Legal, Paternity Africa and Global Paternity. Viaguard's continued existence frustrates some former customers like Mayer. "The main thing I want for Viaguard is for it to close down," said Mayer. "I think that's a collective feeling. I don't think anyone would even imagine that it would still be open."

Go HEB. Fuck MAGAts. https://www.chron.com/culture/article/opill-birth-control-heb-19381763.php As reproductive health care sees strict restrictions in Texas, a daily birth control pill is now available without a prescription at major retailers, including H-E-B. Known as Opill, the birth control hit shelves in monthly and three-month packs for $20 and $50, respectively. Perrigo, the company behind Opill, also sells the contraceptive online in six-month supplies. Though it is the first birth control pill in the U.S. that has been approved for use without a prescription, Opill isn’t a new birth control. The drug substance, a hormone known as norgestrel, originally received approval for prescription use in 1973, the FDA notes. Shipments of Opill started in early March, and it’s since been spotted at an H-E-B in San Antonio. In the Houston area, it’s listed as available at the H-E-B on Washington Ave. near Downtown and others in city limits, as well as stores in Katy and Pearland. The H-E-B app also lists Opill as available at stores in Austin, the Rio Grande Valley and Dallas suburb McKinney. Outside of H-E-B, Texans may also spot Opill at CVS, which said it would stock the pills at 7,500 of its pharmacy stores early this month.

The whole family is fucking rotten. American Patriots, aka dipshit MAGAts, will conveniently ignore that the whole family is bought by foreign countries. https://www.salon.com/2023/08/16/ive-never-seen-anything-like-it-economic-analyst-stunned-at-sources-of-jared-kushners-funds/ Economic analyst Steven Rattner on Monday shared a pie chart showing that all but 1% of the $3 billion in investments in former President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner's private equity firm Affinity Partners came from foreign sources after he "spent much of his White House tenure cozying up" to Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman. The Saudis invested $2 billion in Kushner's fund while the United Arab Emirates and Qatar each added another $200 million. About $625 million came from other non-U.S. sources while only $31 million came from sources inside the U.S. Rattner told MSNBC that he's "never seen this" in 40 years in the business. "I've never seen somebody get two-thirds of their money from a single investor. Usually a single investor might be a few percent of the fund, might be 5 percent, occasionally 10 percent," he said. While Kushner has hired some people for his fund, "I've seen nothing else about what he's actually done with the money," Rattner continued. "It is normal to invest this money over a period of several years, so I don't think we can draw a firm conclusion yet. But, again, we're going back to a guy who's a real estate guy, and frankly, not a particularly good one at that, who's suddenly got $3 billion trying to do private equity deals competing against people who've been in this business for a long time. And I wouldn't, if I were the Saudis, count on making a lot of money from this any time soon," he said, adding: "U.S. private equity firms still raise the vast bulk of their money from U.S. investors. This is extraordinary — unprecedented — I've never seen anything like it."
