  1. If we are wading into this pop territory, I dig the shit out of Big Thief and Soccer Mommy. But I donā€™t think they belong on this thread exactly.
  2. Nice looking kit and seems to be pristine condition. That price seems a little steep but I havenā€™t priced Gretsch in a long while.
  3. Not to derail (and Iā€™m in for songwriting, what the hell) but you are a good candidate for a weekend father/daughter trip to either Drum Center Portsmouth or LA Pro Drum shop. Both are awesome fun (and the latter is a great follow on Instagram).
  4. Youā€¦. Very knowledgeable. Well, I am an architect. Is that Pastrami?
  5. I found myself at a concert in the late 90s at MSG (like one of those Zoo 100 FM type shows) and Hanson played (maybe headlined) and those motherfuckers BROUGHT IT. And about 20,000 screaming teenage girls agreed.
  6. Iā€™ll play: Sia - Chandelier Lorde - Royals Katy Perry - Wide Awake and Firework Timberlake - Mirrors Madonna - Like a Prayer and Ray of Light Kelly Clarkson - Since Youā€™ve Been Gone
  7. Cool. Be sure to take more pictures of it when you take delivery.
  8. Try tightening or loosening the snares themselves. Itā€™s the knob with the Ludwig logo on the snare throw. You could also play with tuning the tom(s) to different resonances but really you should get them to the tone you want and then adjust snare accordingly. Some people put a gel or dampener on the resonant snare head but I think that makes the snares sound too wet.
  9. Just quoting this part again for, ya know, the future of our democracy, our country, and, in no small sense, our society. (And itā€™s also a good reminder that the presidential election is only one part of the puzzle. Every election is nothing less than critical right now.)
  10. Beautiful. Your hands look a little dry, but otherwise spot on!
  11. Gotdamn! Thatā€™s a beautiful kit. Okay, what are we buying next? JJ, youā€™re up!
  12. I lived down the hall from him in New York (I think it was a place he kept for when he was working in NYC). It was around the time I had a newborn and a three year old and letā€™s just say, heā€™s not a fan of kids. Very mercurial neighbor. But a great actor. Regarding the BCS finale:
  13. I am also partial to later season episode The Little Jerry. ā€œIs he from the future?ā€ So many gold moments in that one.
  14. Less type-y, more pic-y. (And glad youā€™re liking the snare)
  15. Itā€™s peurile. Petulant. Crass. Beneath societal discourse in any forum. But I gotta say, the orange fuckstain is a pretty damn savvy (fourth grade playground) bully. Itā€™s refined. Objectively pretty funny. Not to say Iā€™ll miss it when heā€™s fucking dead.
  16. Any episode with a Taylor Negron cameo is redeemed in my mind.
  17. Nana, nice to see you. Ni-ni-ni-ni-NANA!
  18. Hard to go wrong with a perfect piano black with the lights glinting off the hardware and cymbals. I love me some pretty drums, but if I were to ever be a road warrior again, I think I might just go black and not look back. Also makes it easy to bring in all sorts of other drums or accessories from any maker and still ā€œmatch.ā€
  19. Maybe think of turning Texas blue as a nice swan song before the whole place is vaporized by the sun. I used to tell my team when I was at a fledgling company, ā€œThere is no cavalry coming. Itā€™s just us.ā€ But believing in the possibility was the thing that always most motivating. I have been displaced up in blue states for years: CA, NY and now CT. During Betoā€™s run I volunteered up here to do phone banking, etc and met a number of other Texas exes (meaning the state and UT) and there was a very real sense of helping from the outside because it was so hard to change from the inside. Almost like we knew our energy wasnā€™t needed to make any changes up here (coastal CT is about as liberal as a place can be), so letā€™s pitch in from afar. Iā€™d never done that before but for Beto there was a very real sense even up here that he could actually pull it off with just a little extra nudge. That also speaks to the energy of his local campaign whose influence was widely felt. Point being, get that optimism turning into action from ā€œthe insideā€ and I think there will be a multiplier effect sooner than later in Texas.
  20. Wow, indeed. From 4:00 to 4:55 itā€™s like thereā€™s nobody else on the stage with her.
  21. - You donā€™t even know what a write-off is. - Do you? - No, I donā€™t. - But they do. And theyā€™re the ones writing it off. -ā€¦ā€¦ I wish I had the last 20 seconds of my life back.
  22. Thatā€™s so good. Heā€™s just such a moron. As an aside, paper straws ARE the worst though, amirite?
  23. 4 door FJ to compete with Bronco? No idea. I also am still trying to figure out the sequoia role in the line-up. Itā€™s now going to be the biggest and potentially priciest at the TRD fully loaded end. So is it now the full size grocery-getter-in-wolfā€™s-clothing that the previous LC was? Either way, Iā€™ll take one of each - taco, 4T, LC and sequoia. And I guess Iā€™ll just go ahead and get a tundra too. All of the lineup is gonna be badass by 2025.
