  1. For a snack I picked up some boqueros (Spanish unsalted anchovies). Quick fry with some lemon and salt. Very tasty. Need to dial in the prep. They are also great fresh with oil and lemon on bread. Get comfy, fellas. Hello, gents. Hope you’ve arrived well dressed and comfortable. Haha! Fools! You’re quite undone in your indiscretions! And now, a sprinkle of salt, a squeeze of lemon, and you fuckers are mine!
  2. Step off, George. I don’t want to see you. Me? Step off? Yeah George, Tony says you better step off. Just beat it, dude!
  3. That’s a real purty neck. Jeez. Can you get a couple?
  4. Rewatched the finale again tonight and a couple of small subtleties I noticed: - when we hear Karis Nemik’s manifesto the night before the funeral, it ends with one word: “try”. Interesting the juxtaposition years later to yoda training Luke after the rebellion is in full swing “Do or do not. There is no try.” I want to believe that was intentional and also very badass. - there is a great symbolism in the two marching bands converging from different parts of the village ending up all together before marching toward the ISB and stormtroopers. The tune they play also goes from being played out of tune with one another to being in tune (in additional to the tonal crescendo).
  5. Bloody Mary and Ranch Waters to pregame along with shrimp cocktail and crudités and hummus. Smoked turkey, cucumber and tomato salad with shallot and white balsamic, mashed potatoes, tamale cornbread dressing, green beans with mushrooms and pancetta, cranberry sauce from a can, apple pie a la mode. Washed down with wine and booze. Happy thanksgiving, ya degenerates!
  6. Yeah I think so, too. Karma made him deaded. Also explains the intentional shot of Cass pausing when he recognized him and realized where who he was with when he got kilt.
  7. So I just binged this in the last 48 hours so couldn’t follow the whole thread but HOLY SHIT BALLS! Best show I’ve watched in a long time, Star Wars or otherwise. I’m pretty convinced that Marva is, in fact, dead. But some of these monologues in the last few episodes are just epic - better than any others across the whole SW canon. My only question about the finale is whether the black worker guy who was acting shady about getting intelligence about Cass coming back for the funeral - was he really trying to sell out Cass to the ISB or was he intentionally misdirecting them? The other theme that is refreshing and relevant is the sheer ineptitude of the empire and ISB through arrogance and hubris. That adds a layer of plausibility to a) how the good guys can defeat seemingly insurmountable odds tactically but also to b) how the fascist and authoritarian empire decides it has to crush resistance and at the same time the resistance finds footing in the belief it might “win” in the end. So. Damn. Good.
  8. Well, I just want you to know I'm there for you. Of Course now I'm here for you, but when I'm not here for you, I'm there for you. …. I tell ya, that “there for you” crap was a stroke of genius!
  9. Fair point. I’m meaning “we” as in society. Maybe even civilization altogether at this current trajectory.
  10. That brings a literal tear to my eye - hard to imagine all that we’ve lost. And not just losing Nancy.
  11. That’s why during the 80s vomit I was yelling, “George, can you believe it? I’m vomiting on June 29th again!”
  12. My wife did a butternut squash soup in it. It was crazy how it heated up.
  13. Fourth on the Vitamix. Just obliterates it to a finer emulsion than you could get with pre-packaged powders (which I again fully admit to using because where I live I don’t have easy access to whole dried chilis anyway). Also the vitamix is an industrial grade tool that serves many purposes in the kitchen; very worthwhile investment.
  14. Did a quick batch last night as the temp dropped and the cowboys were on. Just chili powder this time as we have next to no source for real chilis in Connecticut and this was spur of the moment. 1lb cubed chuck and 2lb ground 80/20. Turned out damn tasty.
  15. Sure you camel-toe! Er, I mean, sure you can!
  16. Actually, reclaim it from THAT white man.
  17. Sorry, maybe it’s just that the republi-comic bar is so low, but that’s kinda funny. Will be funnier when she loses.
  18. Needs double tape decks and a plywood rack and that was definitely 5th or 6th grade Christmas for me!
  19. Yeah if you go this route and buy this pack and find yourself wanting to unload an 18” crash for $120 I’ll buy and pay for shipping. I tend to play larger crashes exclusively but in a variety of weights. Below 18” I have more splash/stack/china/effect cymbals. When I “crash” I like to really crash with sustain. Also, smaller cymbals tend to be more forgiving at lower “quality” levels. Cheaper cymbals at larger sizes really expose their deficiencies. On the flip side, a beginner drummer just needs a mid weight crash and a mid-light ride that can also have a bright crash sound and they’ll be good to go. I’m a big believer in drumset simplicity in the early days (and beyond, really). When you’re teaching your limbs to do things independently and trying to mentally account for which stick is where… too many options create hesitations mentally which, literally, translates to missed hits and dragging tempos. My learning curve was pad only; the snare only; then snare, hats, and kick only (eg, each limb had one thing to play); then sweet ass four piece and added crash and ride. That saw me through pretty much the early learning. Then I was able to make it more interesting as I progressed. At one point I would set up at home with a 9 piece set and get crazy. But more often then not, I now only play a 4 piece in any “real” situation (gig, record, etc). Maybe 5 with two floor toms if it feels worth it.
  20. Awesome - keep us posted. I’m just now relocating all of mine from one room to another and kinda getting an itchy trigger finger. I’m the Amp, if it were me I’d upgrade/update. You can get a lot of amp for not a lot of money now. I have two NADs and while I know I could go way up in hi-fi, they are both great sound wise. I would also stick with component blue tooth vs integrated but that’s just because one of my NAD I got just for that and it’s pretty mediocre. It’s just hard to get good sound over blue tooth period.
