  1. This is all good stuff and inspiring me to sort it sooner than later. Iā€™ll probably stick to electronic kit as input because if I miked acoustic I would only be able to play short windows when during the day. And I have the Scarlett interface so maybe thatā€™s what Iā€™ve been missing to midi out from kit and input to my laptop running garage band.
  2. I have a full Roland mesh kit and Roland TD17 module which should be more than up to the task. Like I said, probably user error that it isnā€™t recording into garage band properly. Will investigate and fiddle more.
  3. Thatā€™s awesome Goredho. And makes a lot of sense. I think the biggest challenge for me also involves how to record the drums into the daw to begin with. So itā€™s a separate problem I need to solve for. And generally for composing I suppose I can just use garage band or a simpler midi interface for holding basic grooves and beats but it totally hampers percussion creativity. You lose the ā€œwhat if I play it like THISā€ or ā€œtry it more like THATā€ part of collaboration more so for the rhythm section than others. But maybe thatā€™s what flights to Austin are for once we make some progress on songs, structure/ideas, etc.
  4. Alright Iā€™m looking forward to updates. Maybe it deserves a new thread so this one stays focused on actual music. I like garage band fine but it is terrible with my Roland drums as the interface. Although there could be some serious user error.
  5. This thread kicks all kinds of ass. Keep it coming as I love hearing all of yā€™allā€™s stuff. Been working with a handful of guys off and on in Austin for years and, after I moved away a few years ago to NYC, I will occasionally come down a play or do a show together. I would love to know from anyone whoā€™s working with band mates etc remotely how youā€™re doing it. Whatā€™s been the best way to share work, collaborate, what tech or platforms, etc? Itā€™s easy to share and listen individually but sometimes just feels like a bunch of ping pong back and forth. Would love to up my game. (Iā€™m 90% drums in these collaborations with a little keys mixed in).
  6. Whatta ya call that monster? And whereā€™d he come out of?
  7. Iā€™m out there six days a week hauling Yoo Hoo. Weā€™ve sacrificed everything. All for our little bubble boy.
  8. Thank goodness NPR is the cultā€™s go-to source for news and information!
  9. Nice looking fly! Thatā€™s all just badass. Somedayā€¦.
  10. Pescado, what smoke tube are you using and any particular tricks? That bark looks legit. Iā€™ve been playing with my Traeger for a few weeks now but have yet to do brisket. The pellet smoke is great for chicken, ribs and sausage but can imagine it wonā€™t be QUITE up to the task with a brisket.
  11. Damn, thatā€™s heaven. What were you throwing at them? Assuming dries on the creeks? Thatā€™s some mighty still water in the lake for trout! How many days were you out?
  12. He went down at the Beekman. He tried to lam, but they cheesed him!
  13. All that stuff is so small. Itā€™s stupid. (I have started to think season 8 is the funniest. Not the most original or inventive because the characters are well entrenched. But it doesnā€™t quite yet ā€œinsist upon itselfā€ and itā€™s rather pure comedy rooted in the accepted and established absurdity of the characters and concept). And some of the best one-off characters with no expectation they ever show up again. Good examples: Brody the bootlegger. Man hands. The bizarro cast. Brilliant and just plain funny.
  14. Those JBLs are sweet. And I think the answer to your question (if Iā€™m understanding it) is yes and yes. And upgraded DAC wonā€™t hurt and I donā€™t think you need to invest huge dollars to have a big upgrade. But the closer you can get to lossless audio for streaming, the better. Best would be downloaded but I used to say Iā€™d do that and 90% of the time I just stream from Tidal. And pay attention to your Bluetooth interface if you go that route. I donā€™t know as much about that but have to assume itā€™s a huge factor.
  15. Thatā€™s a nice looking kit! I played a Gretsch USA custom a few months back and it sounded amazing. I donā€™t know if Iā€™ve seen a Renown maple in the wild but people seem to love them and the finish and hardware looks nice. And thank god you didnā€™t get the two tone retro ones!
  16. Hell yeah. Damn. And are we to assume that itā€™s the onion and jalapeƱos that are sautĆ©ed in bacon fat? PLEASE let that be what we are to assume.
  17. Thatā€™s a great video. At 8 minutes or so, when he imitates Gadd coming out of his seat, itā€™s fucking spot on. Heā€™s a great talent. Anyone who subs in for Simon Phillips who himself is replacing the irreplaceable Jeff Porcaro - you know they have ludicrous chops.
  18. Oh and some wingies as a little snack.
  19. Did a couple of racks on the Fourth. Nothing fancy - 3 hours smoke, 2 wrapped and last 45 minutes or so over a little higher heat. Slammed, etc.
  20. That epiphone color just doesnā€™t do it for me but Iā€™ve strummed one of those before and the one I played was great sounding. I, of course, am trying to focus on just being a drummer, so I shouldnā€™t buy any more guitars (or mandolins, basses, etc) right nowā€¦ butā€¦. Let me see if this glass of wine and gummy donā€™t recalibrate my impulse control. And Topo, if that was within my grasp Iā€™d have already been a goner. Fuckinā€™ A.
  21. Damn it, youā€™re right. I will suspend myself from quoting for a penalty day.
  22. Got it. Yeah, I have several rods across a full range of weights, for salt and fresh, and a dozen reels and spools all of which I dearly love using to not catch fish. But I was out there today at dawn and will damn sure be out again tomorrow, greeting the morning with waders and sunglasses on, standing waist deep in some body of water or ā€˜nother.
  23. I like to shop at the duty free shopā€¦ I like to shop at the duty free shop.
