  1. To be fair, as a drinking manā€™s summertime backyard activity, lawn darts were dangerous as fuck.
  2. Typo aside, I gotta respectfully side with Goredho on the neck with gold combo here aesthetically. That motherfucker is perfect. (But, of course, so is yours, Deej!) I goddamn love living vicariously through you guitar buying maniacs (both as a drummer guy and as someone who admires gear acquisition).

  4. Playing a DW Collectors drum set that even then was probably >$5,000 and no high school would have had in their band hall. Sweet pic but that doesnā€™t scream Straight Outta Compton.
  5. Was gonna say the same for the Red Sox. And Boston sports fans in general, which is to say everyone there. I love Chicago but havenā€™t lived there. I have lived in Boston and I say, from the bottom of my heart, it fucking sucks to live there unless maybe youā€™re in Cambridge or went to college there. Otherwise, youā€™re an outsider in an exceptionally provincial, regional place. And if youā€™ve lived in NYC already, itā€™s all the downsides of NYC except that, well, it isnā€™t NYC. Now, the history, some of the food, the Charles, Cambridge, Fenwayā€¦. those are all great. But unless youā€™re from there, donā€™t live there.
  6. That slow/loop feature makes it worth it to me. Iā€™m still very novice so picking / strumming along to shit I like to listen to is 99% and Iā€™ll tell you, in a single sit down, I hit pause and slide the slider on Tidal back half an inch over and over and over again.
  7. I have had clients stay at park Hyatt and andaz and they were good with it.
  8. Yeah itā€™s not great. Gonna keep tinkering.
  9. He talks about it all the time! Every time he takes it out he goes on and on about how it writes upside down, how the astronauts use it.
  10. Donā€™t ever decide at the last minute to try their chili/spaghetti abomination for the first time at the Cincinnati airport and then get on a plane home. Justā€¦ donā€™t do it.
  11. Sometimes I sit around wondering what Peter Gabriel thought the first time he heard Phil Collins sing ā€œyou canā€™t hurry loveā€. But then I remember Phil is one of the most talented musicians (drummer!) and songwriters of all time and then appreciate that he and Peter made amazing things together and then went and made amazing things apart. Anywho;
  12. Visual because for us married dudes letā€™s not forget this is Very Important!
  13. So here is where I landed for now. NAD 328 plus KEF q350s and it sounds pretty dang good. I can roll with it for a while. Now off to reverb and the Dynaudio site. Oh and maybe to listen to some music.
  14. You sold my Cadillac to Jack Klompus?!
  15. This is exactly what Iā€™m finding. Both the KEF and the Dynaudio are >$2500. For hifi speakers thatā€™s not a while lot. But for a couple off Bluetooth devices Iā€™m cramming into a bookshelf itā€™s hard to justify. Iā€™d rather spend big on upgrading my ā€œmainā€ setup. (Or on my aforementioned guitar and drum hobbies)
  16. You guys need to do a NY/New England leg and I can try and add to the debauchery. Or get you some gigs.
  17. I think Iā€™m following and had thought about that but not the idea of two mono amps. I donā€™t see how those would synch across. One of the issues I was trying to solve for (and the super high end KEF powered speakers would have solved) is that I am putting these into built in shelves that are separated with no easy way to get wire between. (As an aside, what Iā€™ve bought doesnā€™t actually solve for it anyway and not speakers will end up being on the same shelfā€¦ but alas, back to the original question since I was the one who posed it). Almost all the powered speaker pairs I found have one powered and one passive slave, therefore a wire. KEF solves for that by wirelessly pairing and early versions had latency issues but apparently the new ones solve for that. And Jimmy your idea would also possible solve for the wired issue. But might introduce latency and connection issues. For now, my solve will be to just clear out some shit on the left side of the built on shelves below and put the amp and passive speakers on there. Not ideal for sound/placement but that goddamn chimney is like crossing Siberia for wires.
  18. Damn. Thatā€™s a great setup. That M33 is badass.
  19. Yeah I love my Dynaudio and I merely rock the Excite x12s (with an REL sub). I would love to upgrade sometime but frankly theyā€™re so damn good. I donā€™t know that something as nice as the 40s but I donā€™t know if the rest of my setup merits something so nice. Dream of also upgrading my power source to the McIntosh ma252 hybrid.
  20. Mmmmmā€¦. Special 40 Dynaudios. Thatā€™s a fine speaker! Good to know about the Audioengines. So, I ended up getting just a super basic component pairing - again this is for 90% Bluetooth-from-my-phone passive listening while Iā€™m puttering around the family room. Got a NAD 328c amp and the KEF Q350s. I was about to pull the trigger on the LS50 KEFs and for some reason showed my wife and she didnā€™t like the look of themā€¦. Thatā€™s what I get for even asking! (To be fair it is the room we spend a lot of time in so I guess the look is something to consider). As soon as I can bring her around on them Iā€™ll upgrade. In the meantime given the amount of drum and guitar shit I buy and sneak upstairs, Iā€™ll just keep a low profile on the speakers.
  21. Dammit! You were right, Jimmy. The powered KEF ones are $2800. It was too good to be true. They have an LSX model that is powered at $1250 but now Iā€™m worried they arenā€™t in the same audio ballpark. Also gonna look into the Klipsch ā€œthe Fivesā€ speakers. But Iā€™ve never been a huge fan of Klipsch sound.
  22. Ouch. Yeah. I was looking at the LS50 powered at more like $1500. Would love to do just wireless (but now that you mention it maybe I just buy an amp. I do like buying more shit, as a general rule.) Any intel on Audioengine - they appear to be from Austin.
