  1. Yeah they now have an active version that I might have to buy to hear and then decide as they donā€™t seem to show up anywhere. And yeah, if I do buy them itā€™s gonna put that much more pressure on one of my kids to get a damn scholarship (or a damn job).
  2. My history: Cruiser #1 - 1997 40th Anniversary LX450 with locking differentials. Sold it to my wifeā€™s cousin to be their permanent Marthaā€™s Vineyard beach car and it still fires up every Spring without a moments hesitation. Best truck Iā€™ve ever owned and might buy it back some day if it doesnā€™t completely disintegrate into rust and sand (which it probably will living up there year round) Cruiser #2 - 1986 FJ60. Loved it but it was just damn impractical for the family at the time and it was meant to be a restore project that I just didnā€™t have the time to invest in (I donā€™t have any of those skills myself so it would have all been outsourced). Still it was fun as hell for a while and Iā€™ll always be in the market to replace it. Cruiser #3 - current - 2006 - mainly my play around and sometimes drive to the train car. I donā€™t plan to do much to it. Itā€™s a family friendly beach and mountains driver that Iā€™ll replace with another 60 or 62 when the kids are a little older.
  3. Okay Iā€™ll play but this is an impossible question - in a good way. For me: - NYC - lived here right after school then have left and come back two more times. I canā€™t escape itā€™s gravity. Met my wife here. Youngest was born here. Itā€™s unlike anywhere else in the country and, in many ways, the world. I reread EB Whiteā€™s book ā€œHere is New Yorkā€ about every six months and it still gives me goosebumps. - Austin. Duh. But Iā€™ll admit I wish it could have been frozen in time about 15 years ago. - Marfa. I have a lot of family from west Texas and love the sky out there. Marfa provides some fascination on the ground, too. I might also prefer the Marfa of twenty years ago but then again, way back then I was nearly knifed and robbed standing in the doorway of my Thunderbird hotel room so maybe a little more civilization doesnā€™t hurt. (And Iā€™m gonna cheat and loop in Big Bend and Marathon to this one). - Venice/Santa Monica - early career was spent flying back and forth on lots of boondoggles to LA with many fond memories. I eventually lived in Venice for two years and my daughter was born out there so always good memories (cheat #2: close to Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, and Del Mar on the other side) - New Orleans - I like food and music and debauchery. And good. Honorable mention: Boulder, Sundance/Park City, Stowe
  4. Hi. Didnā€™t see this covered anywhere and it seems more appropriate to the Music thread than CYHMWT. Anyone have recos on a pair of powered Bluetooth bookshelf speakers? I had the Dynaudio Music 3 single speaker and really want proper stereo (so not Sonos, etc). I hav Dynaudio as my hifi loudspeakers and love them. But they just donā€™t seem to have mastered the powered wireless space. Iā€™ve been looking at the KEF ls50 but donā€™t know if I can justify the price. Any experiences out there good or bad. I know a lot of people did Klipsch and Audioengine.
  5. Thinking modern sophistication? Thinking connections and innovation? Thinking enjoyment all around? THINK RIBEYE.
  6. I like the different approach here. Looks delicious. But what exactly are we looking at? Griddled onions and peppers and then a think ribeye?

  8. JS: George, little Jerry Seinfeld ran from my place to Newmanā€™s in under 20 seconds! GC: Is that good? JS: I donā€™t know.
  9. Haha, yeah it was I think unrelated because it wasnā€™t full blown food poisoning. I would still take any opportunity to eat at Avra.
  10. Definitely stick with Frenchette. Le Bernadin used to be below my office building so was lucky to go there pretty frequently. And I threw up after the last time I ate at Avra. But itā€™s very good.
  11. Can I at least steal the battery?
  12. Ha, well she is still very stylish and you can definitely see ā€œitā€ but now 95% of the time anyone sees her is just out walking the dog so pretty low key. If you drove past her you would NEVER think ā€œoh look, that woman walking her dog is one of the most significant musicians in the last 40 years of rock and rollā€¦ā€ but in a good way. And sheā€™s out and about much less than Chris who is out walking every day. The first time I met him was small talking while our dogs were wrestling and only after we had walked off, my wife said she couldnā€™t believe I didnā€™t mention I was a drummer, and I was like, ā€œWait, THAT was him?!?!ā€
  13. Yep, Fairfield. We are on the Westport side of the street and they are on the Fairfield side. Some of the best times we have had in our neighborhood have been skating on their pond. Theyā€™re really down to earth and nice. Their ā€œniceā€ car is a Ford Escape that is at least 10 years old and Iā€™ve only ever seen their son driving it.
  14. Dustin Hoffman was in Star Wars.
  15. I relate to a lot of the posts here and, likewise, Wilco I didnā€™t really dive into until around 2003 or 2004 also during a divorce. Now they (and tweedy) are part of my musical psyche. And Talking Heads I always liked but only started to truly appreciate in the last few years. It helps that a) my 4 year old truly loves ā€œpsycho killerā€ more than anything and, well, Iā€™m neighbors now with Chris and Tina and they are truly nice people and neighbors in the ā€˜burbs just a few stops away from David still doing his thing on Broadway. But back on topic, I had a great friend who passed away a few years ago who was a HUGE King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard fan. A band I completely missed. And, honestly, I like a lot but also donā€™t really know if I know where to start with them, if that makes sense. Two others in the spirit of the thread: Toto, Men at Work.
  16. Donā€™t forget the royalties from the Super Terrific Happy Hour.
  17. Looks great, mchookem. Two more follow ups: what kind of noodles? And recipe for the kimchi? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. G: She scooped the niblets? J: YES. Thatā€™s what was so vexing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. ā€œā€¦walk in at Carboneā€¦ā€ LOL But sounds like a good weekend trip and, Penelope you have great taste! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Couldnā€™t find any steel string specials, but this is pocket change for most of you guys, I assume. Own a piece of history! https://reverb.com/item/40905433-1995-dumble-overdrive-special-100-original-hrm-circuit-with-original-footswitch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
