  1. Alright, if that guy gets to say Pink Floyd, I'm just gonna go ahead and say The Who. I love a lot of their music and believe Moon was a one-of-a-kind nut and Pete Townshend is a rock star, there is just a ton of their stuff that isn't all that fun to listen to. I don't know how to describe that better, but that's what it feels like.
  2. Steely Dan = Tongue-in-cheek lyrics and persona, but with incredible studio talent and precision recording/composing.
  3. Courtney Barnett
  4. Itch scratching talk not going away.
  5. Peter Luger would like a brief word with you on the courtesy phone (and he has Mr. Keens on the other line).
  6. Condolences, CHIEF. That's sad news to hear.
  7. This whole thread is like the Reverse Peephole episode of Seinfeld. Wallets went out with powdered wigs.
  8. I should have clarified.... learn piano but don't STOP with the piano. Guitar will help you meet nice girls. Of course, if you want to meet the real hotties, be a drummer. Bonus: you can act like an drunken maniac and you barely ever have to actually play for anyone - just buy a Zidljian t-shirt.
  9. Piano/Keyboard. Start by learning music on that and then add anything else. New to music, keyboard will catapult you forward more than any of the others... it's visual, logical, easy to play by ear and learn to read music to, and teaches you hand independence. Second, would be guitar.
  10. I really want to hate that Ryan Adams strat, but for some reason I just can't.
  11. The question is how long ago he ate them?
  12. Oh, man, that surf pearl green.
  13. And on the perfect plate, no less!
  14. Goddammit. Wrong Vacation. I'd like to formally retract this quote and replace it with: I think you're all fucked in the head!
  15. I always thought millenials were younger and more tech-savvy than the OP, but here we are.
  16. Knopfler and Emmylou (two of my all time favorite artists to begin with) - All the Roadrunning Patty Griffin - A Kiss in Time (her performance of Nobody Crying on that one is perfection).
  17. There are really very, very few circumstances for a grown-up when this is NOT the answer. Unless you're a poor, which is gross anyway.
  18. YES? (Get it?)
  19. As an aside, my wife and kids are asleep, I have a glass of whiskey at my feet, headphones on, Spotify open and a Les Paul around my neck. So anyway, Journey rules.
  20. Let me tell you guys something - as a lifelong musician, drummer and wannabe singer and guitarist - Journey rose so above other bands of their era and I'll that it's almost astounding. Power ballads and rock rippers Schon and Steve Smith And the voice of Perry. They werent Genesis or Yes. Or Styx. But they also weren't guns and roses or Def Leppard. I love em. They rocked on a higher level than their peers. They've been reduced, I'm afraid to karaoke go-to anthems, but the their catalog and fidelity is deep. Fight me, I guess?
  21. Do you mean to suggest that at one point you were potentially not going to have cheese on them at all? What in the hell is going on here?! Then again, lots of kudos on the effort to broil them even if it went a little too hot. That shows your intentions were really good. I'm proud of you for that. Also, curly fries.
  22. Inspired by this thread, I went down a VH rabbit hole and I've determined that during Sammy's tenure, they wrote songs that sound exactly how a 14 year old high school freshman dude would imagine a rock band sounding if he could just, you know, "ROCK, DUDE." The song 5150 is a perfect example of what I mean.
  23. Doesn't mean I want her sitting next to me, does it?
