  1. Relax everyone - Whitaker can only fire Mueller "for cause" Hahahaha... Just wanted to see if I could actually type that out with a straight face.
  2. Love some cauliflower mash. I will sometimes add a little sour cream or cream cheese and some shredded parm to firm it up a bit
  3. Whoa Nelly. Looks amazing. (avoiding CR right now)
  4. Haha.... The whole family! And maybe the neighbors. Joking aside, I would try and get him in the habit of wearing them if he's not jamming along with headphones. My 40-something ears regret lots of hours that I should have used even the cheap foam ones. I know, I know, it's rock and roll and he's not gonna want to wear them with his buddies or bandmates, but when just playing alonr, it's really good to wear them - and really they will help his playing in practice situations because they help clarify and isolate the sounds and drum strokes vs a loud ass racket. Of course as a dad myself, your best bet may be telling him earplugs "super lame, you should never wear them" and see if that works.
  5. Durham, Asheville, Wilmington and Chapel Hill would all be awesome towns to got to college in (my brother went to UNC Greensboro and UNC Wilmington). As an old, I'd really only want to live in Asheville or Durham unless I worked at UNC in CH. I haven't spent much time in Asheville but I would like Chapel Hill more to Austin than Asheville. But to be clear that isn't a knock on Asheville. My parents have lived off and on I'm Greensboro for 20+ years following Dallas and they love it. Nice town but a little oldish and, outside of some very limited areas of youth and revitalization, it's pretty sleepy. But the location (like the research triangle) is great vis a vis the mountains and beach being relatively equidistant. *Caveat: I haven't been to Gboro for 7 or 8 years so it could be a real happenin' joint now, as the kids say (I think?)
  6. Great choice! And earplugs make excellent stocking stuffers.
  7. Do you even Star Wars explosions, bro?
  8. Did you make that sandwich in cold, weightless void of outer space?!
  9. How are you keeping that from sliding off the table?
  10. It's your civic duty! Unless you're voting for Cruz, because then, just, honestly, fuck you.
  11. I currently live in a safe little blue bubble in Connecticut, so I'll be wearing my Tecovas, making some noach and/or some queso,, streaming the 'Horns, and drinking some Tito's..... and sending all my energy back home to Texas in support of our boy Beto. God Bless America. And holy shit.
  12. To speed up the drying effect I once used a hair dryer, but honestly it didn't achieve the same dehydrating effect of the fridge. Maybe put them on the rack in front of a fan? I know what you mean about the fridge overnight being a pain but it definitely has led to the best results in my limited experience.
  13. Just sold one a while back. They were beautiful. Dark brown stain with custom inlays bass drum hoops. 2 up, 2 down. Used in a studio in California and not a scratch on them. That kills me! And my setup too!
  14. Nothing more to add other than "lottery" has a chorus that's just good music. Not fancy. Just voice matching feel and a great set of chords. Kinda Julien Baker sound. Unassuming, then "whoa, Nelly!"
  15. Sweet setup, Republican dudes. Is Petra playing later?
  16. That green anniversary kit. Man oh man.
  17. Hold out for a Fibes kit baby!
  18. Wait for the green. (says the guy who's not buying them and knows damn well he himself couldn't wait 8 weeks for that sweet ass kit)
  19. Agree on all the above but would say you could probably go lower price dw hardware than 6000 for now. And Tama makes really good inexpensive pedals - entry iron cobra pedal is probably less than $100 and is solid. But can't really go wrong with anything dw as hc said. And agree that looks matter. At the price point you're buying all those shell packs and hardware are about the same and not in a bad way - all solid and in good hands can sound pro level so go for what he thinks is cool. Some of the kits I've bought/built over the years I would laugh at now (see my orange glitter and white hw kit up thread)... But if it keeps him playing and he and his friends think it's cool that's all that matters. And on the point about any kit being made to sound good in good hands - drum tuning and tech/care are WAY underrated skills for any drum kit drummer. Great things to learn and experiment with early. If he's like most drummers that keep at it, he will always have tons of gear accumulate (I at one point might have had 18 snare drums... But who's counting). His ability to use and adapt the equipment is important especially if/when he plays with other people and in different spaces, etc. So fun.
  20. Nacho Cheese Doritos and spicy bean dip. What's this you say? <Presses pause to go check pantry>
  21. Make those Ranch Cornuts and you're in bidness
