  1. Thanks for asking... my personal philosophy is this: - Queso = pile style - Shredded cheese = individual style For example, at home I'll often do a big batch of chips/bean/cheese and spread across cookie sheet and broil topped with jalapenos. In college, by contrast, I would get the Super Nachos from TC and mash that shit all up into a delicious nacho casserole-like substance.
  2. 2-strike, 2-out Grand Slam is a step in the right direction!
  3. You see Elaine, Billy was a simple country boy. You might say a cockeyed optimist, who got himself mixed up in the high stakes game of world diplomacy and international intrigue.”
  4. My wife grew up there and her mom's still in Kennebunk, so we're there a lot. In town, Allison's is fun as is Bandaloop. Arundel Wharf is good, too. For a nice meal, go to Earth at Hidden Pond - great chef and menu (we got married at Hidden Pond). Old Vines is a nice little wine bar to sit outside. And definitely worth driving to Cape Porpoise to go to the Ramp for some beers downstairs. Also, check out the Colony hotel bar. Never eaten there, but great setting for drinks. Also down the road from there is Mabel's which is a little diner with a great lobster roll - it's where the Bush's used to eat every few days in the summer. Also, if you drive by to see the Bush compound, please don't stop your car in the middle of the road to take pictures/selfies.
  5. Vodka vs. Gin.... only one is a proper martini, sure, but why not have both and make a Vesper.
  6. Not sure why this popped into my head but this was an underrated performance:
  7. Speaking of breakups: "Well, I'm sorry I'm not Brad. I'm me. Pleased to me ya!"
  8. Maybe it's me, but a bowl of some vanilla ice-butter doesn't sound all that bad.
  9. <Secretly, just for a brief moment, closes eyes and tries to visualize whether this could look cool in my living room, maybe spray-painted white; kinda want, but $17.99 seems pretty steep>
  10. 52-80, appreciate the thoughts, but you might want to double check that you're not a Russian bot.
  11. As a dad to a 3.5 yo girl, I'm going to go with 3.5 years old. Requires far more patience than I ever expected to experience in my life. I used to listen to Louis CK talk about making his daughter breakfast and arguing about "Pig Newtons" thinking that was hyperbolic for comedic affect. Nope. That kind of shit happens daily. Newborn/infant was relatively easy once you adjust to having a person who required 24/7 attention.
  12. Gail Stanwyk: Look at her! Would you look at her?! She looks like a hooker! Could you love someone who looked like that!? Fletch: What are you talking about? Of course not! ...five, ten minutes tops, maybe.
  13. Zing! And too true.
  14. Seems the "Anglo, Jewish, or Asian" is fairly on the nose about excluding some folks. And this whole thing reads like some sophomore marketing and media student's mid-term project. Full disclosure, I work in advertising (so, close to home, etc.) and one of the stupidest aspects of what we do - and there are many - is creating an avatar of a real human that isn't real. "Stay at home dad who is also an architect and loves hang-gliding, is taking sommelier certification courses, drives either a BMW (always a BMW) or a vintage Saab, works out 3-11 times per week, but enjoys a steak dinner with his friends on the weekends, and built his own coffee table / media credenza out of reclaimed barn doors." Nonsense. All of it.
  15. Any thoughts on this gas/charcoal combo? I really want a ceramic to smoke/grill, but I also know that there are lots of weeknights where I want to just fire up the gas grill. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Vision-Grills-Kamado-Char-Gas-Dual-Fuel-Charcoal-Gas-Grill-in-Black-with-Grill-Cover-S-4C1D1-H/207054083?cm_mmc=Shopping|G|Base|D28I|28-22_BBQ_GRILL|NA|PLA|Brands|71700000032321202|58700003835939162|92700030697234681&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoun7r4vv2wIVix-GCh2hAAkiEAYYASABEgL-TvD_BwE&dclid=CIXW7LKL79sCFcwEDAodOksAsg
  16. Moving to a new house that doesn't have gas (insert "unlike the owner" dad jokes forthwith).... As a home "chef" I'm a little dismayed by this as electric generally sucks. But does anyone here use an induction range? I've heard great things. Current appliances are all Bosch and they seem to make a decent slide-in induction range. Any insights or watchouts?
  17. I'm married to a real salty New Englander - born/raised in Kennenbunkport (where her mom still lives) and her dad lives on Nantucket. We also had a share of a house in Edgartown for a few years about five years ago. All that said, the main contribution here is to go to the Cisco Brewery on Nantucket. Great way to kill an afternoon. And Slip 14 near the ferry is great - good boat-seeing spot. Oh, not to repeat the obvious, but traffic TO the cape is unbearable - drive in the middle of the night if you have to. Gridlocked with Massholes all around. After going to MV every summer for a few years, we finally bailed on it - the Boston factor is way too strong. Nantucket is where it's at.
  18. I do the Keller approach and it's pretty consistent... the key is to REALLY salt the skin. I'm intrigued by the potential of mixing a little baking powder into the salt to add a little more crispness.
  19. They Came Together Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates
  20. Super Troopers - in really any altered state. The Murray and/or Chevy classics: Fletch, Caddyshack, Spies Like Us, Trading Spaces No explosions, though.
  21. Maybe he needs a new drug?
  22. Umm, it's been two hours Bogey. Where them pics at? And, Glen, that is just badass (the story and the guitars)
  23. Serving suggestion: you should cook the Orzo! Scramps look awesome, though.
