  1. Seems the "Anglo, Jewish, or Asian" is fairly on the nose about excluding some folks. And this whole thing reads like some sophomore marketing and media student's mid-term project. Full disclosure, I work in advertising (so, close to home, etc.) and one of the stupidest aspects of what we do - and there are many - is creating an avatar of a real human that isn't real. "Stay at home dad who is also an architect and loves hang-gliding, is taking sommelier certification courses, drives either a BMW (always a BMW) or a vintage Saab, works out 3-11 times per week, but enjoys a steak dinner with his friends on the weekends, and built his own coffee table / media credenza out of reclaimed barn doors." Nonsense. All of it.
  2. Any thoughts on this gas/charcoal combo? I really want a ceramic to smoke/grill, but I also know that there are lots of weeknights where I want to just fire up the gas grill. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Vision-Grills-Kamado-Char-Gas-Dual-Fuel-Charcoal-Gas-Grill-in-Black-with-Grill-Cover-S-4C1D1-H/207054083?cm_mmc=Shopping|G|Base|D28I|28-22_BBQ_GRILL|NA|PLA|Brands|71700000032321202|58700003835939162|92700030697234681&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoun7r4vv2wIVix-GCh2hAAkiEAYYASABEgL-TvD_BwE&dclid=CIXW7LKL79sCFcwEDAodOksAsg
  3. Moving to a new house that doesn't have gas (insert "unlike the owner" dad jokes forthwith).... As a home "chef" I'm a little dismayed by this as electric generally sucks. But does anyone here use an induction range? I've heard great things. Current appliances are all Bosch and they seem to make a decent slide-in induction range. Any insights or watchouts?
  4. I'm married to a real salty New Englander - born/raised in Kennenbunkport (where her mom still lives) and her dad lives on Nantucket. We also had a share of a house in Edgartown for a few years about five years ago. All that said, the main contribution here is to go to the Cisco Brewery on Nantucket. Great way to kill an afternoon. And Slip 14 near the ferry is great - good boat-seeing spot. Oh, not to repeat the obvious, but traffic TO the cape is unbearable - drive in the middle of the night if you have to. Gridlocked with Massholes all around. After going to MV every summer for a few years, we finally bailed on it - the Boston factor is way too strong. Nantucket is where it's at.
  5. I do the Keller approach and it's pretty consistent... the key is to REALLY salt the skin. I'm intrigued by the potential of mixing a little baking powder into the salt to add a little more crispness.
  6. They Came Together Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates
  7. Super Troopers - in really any altered state. The Murray and/or Chevy classics: Fletch, Caddyshack, Spies Like Us, Trading Spaces No explosions, though.
  8. Umm, it's been two hours Bogey. Where them pics at? And, Glen, that is just badass (the story and the guitars)
  9. Serving suggestion: you should cook the Orzo! Scramps look awesome, though.
  10. I only see it popping up as a rental on Amazon, YT, iTunes, etc. You can also purchase it for $8 on Amazon. I think I'm gonna get it tonight.
  11. The way her left pinky toe sticks in somewhat in that Leno picture? Super no thank you. Would not congratulate. Perfect everything but, alas, a shaggy 3. Sent from way too far away
  12. Sear steak. Remove steak. Cook vegetables in steak juice. Rest steak at the same time. Eat. Profit?
  13. If I ding the guitar making music, fine. If a guitar is dinged making the guitar, then it's wall art: a tribute to the art it's made to produce. That said, I dig that strat, Deej, and secretly would love an SRV strat. Because Austin.
  14. I realized that not only did I not want to answer that question, but I never wanted to answer another water-sports question, or see any of these people again for the rest of my life. Dammit, now I have to go watch this movie right now.
  15. Forget paper, you could post a picture truffle fries served on a shitty trash bag and they still have no place here.
  16. Also, DLR in his prime was a wacked out rock God who then just became wacked out. Sammy was, is and always will be douchey (hair band Jimmy Buffett) but hey, man, that's cool, man.
  17. FIFY. This is where people get into all kinds of qualitative debates and my belief is that it isn't whether VH were better with one or the other, it's that VH to most people equals VH with DLR. VH with Sammy was just a new and entirely different thing. MY Van Halen was epitomized by Diver Down and 1984. But I also like/appreciate a lot of the Sammy stuff and, in particular, 5150 was the best of that era because it was closest to 1984. The general vibe of "Dreams" "Love Walks In" and "Why Can't This Be Love" was way more pop/sentimental, but a lot of the soundscape of it was just like "Jump." Pointless to compare, IMO.
  18. I was a pleasure responding to your direct question. And posting rudeness, as it were.
  19. 80+ replies before Sidra Holland appeared. To wit:
  20. Theyre real, and they're spectacular. (Surprised it took this long) Sent from way too far away
