  1. Breakin' has gotta be up there, right along side Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo.
  2. And likes to poop shoot.
  3. While I'm firmly, FIRMLY on Team Land Cruiser, I actually like the look of the Nissan over the Infiniti version. But, really, Land Cruiser.
  4. Like a frightened turtle!
  5. Um, Young Guns and Young Guns II. Unforgiven is one of my all-time favorite movies, period.
  6. Also for Comedy Bang! Bang!, find any episode with Thomas Middleditch or Andy Daly. And if you're a Paul F. Tompkins fan (which I am), check out Spontaneanation.
  7. The Band and Talking Heads are 1 and 2 for me. I also had the VHS of SRV's Austin City Limits and wore that shit out. I'm also partial to this one:
  8. And now they're just blatantly trying to rip off Ben & Jerry's!
  9. EDIT: Spanky's note was way more comprehensive. Only adjustment I'd suggest is that if you're looking to actually have a drink down in financial/battery area, go SEE Fraunces Tavern, but drink at either Dead Rabbit (cocktails) or BlackTail (waterfront drinks/food).
  10. For WTC, just see the memorial. In May/June, it's starting to be tourist season and the observation deck, museum, etc. will eat up half a day and are only marginally worth it. Trinity church is worth a visit - our daughter goes to their preschool so we sometimes go to services there, but just walking around the cemetary and the chapel are pretty transporting. You're also right by the Oculus (WTC train station) that is cool to see but really it's just a shopping center. If you're with your wife, she might be interested in popping into Century 21 but I would avoid that like the plague. Also right across from WTC is Brookfield Place if you want to shop and/or grab lunch. There's a PJ Clarke's there that's right on the water with Statue of Liberty Views and yacht docks. As for the OP mid-town/pre-theater, I'm not as familiar up there, but I will say Carmines is pretty fun and the food is actually damn good. And, Marea, lulz.
  11. That pulp can MOVE, baby!
  12. Thanks for the replies. If you google this question, the general consensus is "NO CAN HAZ BAD DEATH CLOG SHIT MONEY!!11!1!!" Thank you, no. Don't see how that would help anyway.
  13. So, I'm reading all sorts of conflicting things on this shitty topic... Do any of you have a septic system AND a garbage disposal. I know it can pose problems if one isn't careful, but curious if those concerns are overblown. We are close to moving on a house but new to septic and damn well want a disposal if we can have it (moving from NYC apartments, get a rope, etc.) I hope this topic doesn't stink for everyone.
  14. True, but also, you now how I know, etc. etc. NTTIAWWT
  15. Gosh darn, this has me steamed. I mean really darn cheesed. I'm gonna PM Derka post-haste!

    Songbirds

First Aid Kit clip, she appears to be playing that Tweedy 00DB (see guitar pron thread). Now I has a new want. Well, maybe make that two.
  17. Comes up as blocked as "adult" content. WTF?! I can't not have my good ol' lulz during the many, many hours at work every day!
  18. I've got an Anova that I only have ever done steaks with but they are pretty dummy proof (good for me). I just use gallon zip lock bags - salt/pepper steak put in bag w/ sprig of thyme and two pats of butter, then submerge into water until covered (which effectively vacuums the bag around the meat) and seal. I use my Le Creuset dutch oven and for two steaks, it's just enough water/room. My wife likes her steak much more well done, so I cook hers at 148 for an hour, then ice the water down to 133 or 135 and put mine in for an hour. Then I pat dry and let sit for a half hour or so before searing. Pretty damn good every time.
  19. This is a hard question to answer, but in terms of overall just great, engaging performance, Jeff Tweedy at Bass Concert Hall about 5 or 6 years ago was really amazing. Just him and guitars. I went two nights in a row. I've seen some good "big" shows, too. Sting was pretty great about 15 years ago. Surprisingly, saw Coldplay 2 years ago on some free VIP tix and gotta say it was an amazing show once I suspended my snobbery filter. Also used to go see Vertical Horizon in college - fratty pop band, but played small-ish venues backed by Carter Beauford. Also, Arc Angeles and Storeyville used to have fun-as-hell shows.
  20. Neil Diamond and I was probably 4 years old. Pretty sure it was at Reunion Arena, but that was just built then and I don't particularly recall. Subsequently saw him 5 or 6 more times. My parents were fans. First "grown up" concert I saw was Chuck Mangione. Then, I'd guess either New Order or Lynyrd Skynyrd or Depeche Mode or some other such nonsense.
  21. Lars, is that you? Also, JJ, did you powdercoat that hardware or buy it already black? I've always wanted to build my own kit, especially after seeing the process in having one built. And Keller shells?
