  1. Was going to post similar earlier, Longhorns as a breed are known, IMO, to be especially averse to dogs. You can work most cattle with a dog (like a blue heeler), but not Longhorns (spent many years ranching Longhorns and crosses) as they tend to focus on attacking the dog and not being driven by it. Bevo was clearly aiming for UGA imo, they know exactly where their horn tips are and his right tip ended up in the spot UGA just vacated.
  2. They appear to hate the Remington .223, which is weird because it's the weakest centerfire caliber I'm familiar with, so I struggle to make sense of progressives' policy preferences in this area.
  3. Well, depending on the rifle and its capacity, I'm going with most, if not all, progressives.
  4. The problem is you will never stop saying this, no matter how many more gun control laws get passed. All the existing laws on the books failed in this case, so I'm continually amazed at this persistent belief that we just need more laws, and that will fix things. The only thing that more gun laws will do for certain is create more criminals out of random folks who find themselves on the wrong end of some magazine or caliber restriction ostensibly created to stop insane people from mass murder, which is of course already illegal, immoral, and obviously horribly wrong. Edit: the more cynical among us may believe the 2nd graph is a welcome side affect in your eyes.
  5. Page bringing back memories of my first NOLA trip. Actually hooked up with some dudes in the bar at the Columns hotel, I was visiting my sister back in early 90s and she lived near there, they found out it was my first trip and took me around. Ended up in line at Tipitina's, I think, as the sun came up. Anyway these random locals I hooked up with took me around in their convertible Mustang GT. At one point we are flying down St. Charles, top down, drinking roadies, going like 80, running multiple reds, and we get pulled over. I'm shitting myself, it was a few days before Christmas and I'm going to have to get bailed out of jail my first day in NOLA. But these local dudes don't give any fucks about getting pulled over, and the driver casually hands a business card to the cop. Cop comes back, tells us to slow down and be careful and gives driver his card back, but it has a staple in it. Cop leaves and I'm like, "Nice get out of jail free card (had somebody from the DA's office on it)! But what's with the staple?" Driver says, "You get 5 staples." Reminded me of being in Juarez.
  6. Third word: cooler. Hot turkey/ham in igloo, then into chafer at lunch time.
  7. SIAP, new to me interview I stumbled across and really enjoyed: Bourdain Confidential "I find, again and again, just by spending the time, by asking very simple questions, people have said the most astonishing things to me." Published onJul 15, 2018 6:00PM EST Maria Bustillos See more tldr: What year were you born? ’56. I missed the draft. The Summer of Love… by the time I was seventeen and old enough to participate, the whole Summer of Love thing was ridiculous and had already gone sour. Any notion of a revolution we could all agree on was long gone. Our attention spans I think are an obstacle to, and also our inability, by our highly… You know, I just spent about ten days in West Virginia. I like them. I liked the Trump voters. They say grace every meal. Coal is gone. I love them. And anybody who cannot understand how important even the promise of a slight increase in the number of coal jobs is, how important that is to their cellular tissue, their self-image, everything. How grotesque it is, for people to bigfoot in and say we’re all going to move you into solar, and why can’t you people… No! The contempt and the ridicule which has been heaped on places like West Virginia, which is the heart, demographically, of enemy territory, as far as New York liberals like us are concerned. If we cannot… This is something we fucked up in the Sixties. We were fighting against cops and construction workers… cops and construction workers were exactly who we fucking needed! They were the first to die, in Vietnam. We weren’t gonna! There’s nearly eight billion of us and we’re all in this mysterious situation. It’s a spinning blue pearl in space. None of us knows why we’re here. We have no idea, it’ll end, and it’s as temporary for the least of us as for, like… somebody who’s been alive for a day is in the same condition as an 80-year-old gazillionaire. Slice it any way you want, everyone’s in the same condition. Mystery, amazement, beauty. Strangeness. Amazement and beauty are luxuries, however. To be able to think about them, maybe? But… there’s a lot more than we think, right? [doubtful] Mmm… I see… I’ve seen so many nice people do really terrible things. Me too. But maybe that’s because we persuade people that “having stuff” is important, or good… How do you persuade people to feel empathy? To be kind, to be curious? I know how. This is the challenge. You have to love them. That’s how you do it, you have to love them. Yeah well I think… we’ve been falling down on the job, in that regard. Wait. You’re good at that. You love people! And that’s what you’ve given! I love West Virginia… I do! I really really do. Just… I’d almost move there out of spite. [guffaws] As a fuck you to everybody who agrees with me. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah!! I completely do. Because it’s kind of amazing. Bullshit does not fly in the hollers. You know what I mean? You either got enough food or you don’t. If you don’t, you grab a rifle and go out back and you shoot a squirrel. You either know how to dress a squirrel or you don’t. Could you dress a squirrel? Yes, I can. edit: link: https://popula.com/2018/07/15/bourdain-confidential/
  8. In the same wheelbarrows they were going to use to haul their cash severance away in?
  9. Removing the anode rod may give you a decent idea. edit: One thing I would do if I were the OP is make sure my closet and closet doorway will accommodate a new water heater. It would suck to rework that space and then have to alter it again to fit a replacement unit.
  10. Anybody w/ a sub wanna post that article?
  11. ^ dude on the scat site claimed cancer, surly collective went against tendencies and was supportive, then turned vindictive when found out fake cancer. User handle was Dr. Drunkenstein
  12. 5th gen New Mexican here. In grade school we were assigned Pen Pals to write to, mine (some dude from Ohio, natch) wrote back complimenting me on my English. So I replied in Spanish. And never heard back. /csb
  13. I'm as cynical as the next guy but this would mean that Georgia (potentially) has to beat Alabama twice to win the title. Mentioned upthread but IMO that aspect makes this scenario unlikely. Or if not that, potentially much more controversial than Bama making it without playing in the CCG (vs. losing it).
  14. This is what gets me, stock price is discounted value of all expected future cash flows, so as soon as the market thinks your growth rate is zero, or will be, you take a big hit. But we have an unhealthy obsession w/ market cap growth; we seem to expect it to be infinite (which is impossible). At some point your sandwich chain, or whatever, has reached its perfect size and you should just cash flow it. Nothing wrong with that.
  15. True but it is much colder in Michigan than it is in the summer.
  16. That's exactly what happened here before additional bad guys showed up.
