  1. I just caught up to this shot on DVR. What the hell is Fox doing?!?!
  2. Just got back from taking my daughter to the orthodontist. Fire the DVR back up and see Tiger triple #1 after splitting the fairway with his tee shot. Alrighty then. About an hour and a half behind live broadcast. Should be interesting catching up.
  3. I would have never guessed that would happen going into the round today. Brutal.
  4. Helluva a par save there on 17 for Poulter.
  5. Piercy goes 9/18 GIR and gets to the clubhouse in 1 under. Meanwhile Phil has only missed one fairway and is 6 over. Cruel game.
  6. That has to be worth some kind of award. Not the day you expected huh? Most strokes over par in a group where all three are in the Top 20 in the world? Would be an obscure record to break.
  7. Man McIlroy just has absolutely no idea where the ball is going today...
  8. Buck: Day for par, best putter on tour statistically. Day: Promptly pulls it left from 3 ft. Glad to see the announcer jinx is alive and well in golf too.
  9. Just caught up to Jordan's birdie on 18. Great putt. Maybe that gets him going for his last 9 (front 9).
  10. Wow. Rory absolutely butchering the 620 yard par 5 16. Featured group not quite playing like it this morning.
  11. Seeing a number of decent length putts go in. Greens look like they're rolling pure today once you get there. Tee to green is a different story with the wind. Love it!
  12. Just saw Jordan's bunker shot on 11. Ouch. That was a couple of inches from stopping and being bogey at worst.
  13. Working from home today and tomorrow. Just got home from dropping the kiddos off at VBS. Just firing it up from the beginning of the Fox coverage on the DVR. About 40 minutes behind real time. I love US Open Thursday/Fridays. Settled in for an awesome day of watching golf!
  14. On a bit more impersonal note, watching the lone bagpipe player walking down the first mist and dew covered first fairway after Payne Stewart was killed in the plane crash. Had it on DVR for the longest time. Will still occasionally pull it up on the interwebs and watch and remember one of my favorites, particularly around US Open time.
  15. Dammit Brisket! I watch that series too. My granddad wouldn't talk much about his time in WWII. But he would talk to me about it for some reason. Some of the most cherished memories I have of him. The last decade or so before he died, we would take him across the country every 2 years to his bomber group reunion. Sitting there talking to those men, listening to their stories, I can't even begin to explain the effect it had on all of the families there with them.
  16. As the father of the most incredible 9 year old yellow lab the world will ever know, and of a 15 month old black lab pup that is amazing, I can't even begin to let myself think of the day this arrives. Have gone through it in the past, will go through it again many times in the future. It sucks every single time and yet we get back up, dust our hearts off and open them right back up to the next most amazing 4 legged family member we welcome into our lives. True, undying love.
  17. Lots of great stuff in here that I can relate to. One that surprised me last week. My son is 6. He's learned to read and spell and we've started working with him more on the computer. We have it child-protected so he can get on and go to sites like Disney Jr and Nick Jr and play around on them. Among other random icons on the desktop, we have a couple of pdf pictures of my granddad. A couple in his WWII uniform. A couple of random ones from family get togethers. Had put them together for a family tree type project for my older daughter's school last year. I was incredibly close to him. Lost him a couple of years ago but he and my son got close in the few years they knew each other. I really didn't know how much my son remembered of him since granddad died when he was 4. He and I were sitting on the couch watching an Astros game one night last week. Out of the blue, my son turned to me during a commercial and said "daddy, do you know what I really do most of the time when I'm playing on the computer?" First thought was, ah hell, where's this going? I said no, can't say I do. What do you do son? He looked me straight in the eye and said "What I really like to do is sit there and open the pictures of granddad and talk to him." I was absolutely floored. Completely lost it. Hell, I'm tearing up as I sit here and type this, remembering the conversation. Kids huh. I love you granddad.
  18. As the father of a now 11 year old daughter, this was released shortly before she was born. Made me cry then thinking about how fast it would all go. Still makes me tear up today when I hear it. She has it on her Apple music account. Every few weeks she'll come randomly sit on my lap and say she wants to listen to it with me. Gets dusty every single time she does it.
  19. Monday update. Pretty decent 1st week back on the wagon last week. Ate better. Not perfect but better. Actually exercised every night at the hotel instead of laying in bed watching television. Started last week at 219.4. 215.2 this morning so down 4+ pounds. Yep, a lot of water weight as always the first week but I'll take it and keep going. Here's to another good week this week.
  20. This right here. Just finished listening. Great job BL. That was all kinds of awesome. That sumbitch can have LT. Hate to say it but it's always sucked. As Pistol Pete's Mustache said up thread, for those of us rivals or from other schools with a lousy message board, long live surlyhorns. The king is dead, long live the king. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, fuck OU.
  21. Well, as good a place as any for my first post on the new site. I was in on the 2017 thread and did really well. Lost 20 pounds or so on it, partly by being accountable to myself on that thread. Then Harvey came in August and fucked up my world. Fell off the wagon, got ran over by it, backed up over me and ran over me a couple more times. Cliff notes version is that I'm back up to about what I started at in the 2017 thread, 220. Fuck me. Okay, time to start again. I'm in. Finished moving everything from the old house today. In the new house, close on the old one on 4/3 and life is getting back to pseudo-normal, or the new normal, or whatever the hell normal passes for these days. Goal is to get down to 195. Had gotten to 202 pre-Harvey. Coaching my son's baseball team and umpiring and need to get back in shape to keep doing both of those for a long time.
