  1. After fighting fight delays and cancellations for 36 hours (thanks United), finally got home from a great vacation last night. Stepped on the scale this morning and gained 5 pounds on vacation. 189.8 this morning. Honestly, that's not nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. Right back on the Keto wagon today. Going to be a rough few days getting back into ketosis and 16:8 IF but it's worth it. Would like to get down to 180 over the next few weeks then stay there permanently. Great job to everyone upthread this last week!
  2. Would love to do something like that ROFL but am worried my business travel schedule will prohibit that level of involvement. I coach his spring and summer baseball teams now and will continue to do so as long as he wants to play. Not sure how much time outside of that I’ll have left with traveling for work. I’ll do whatever I can though with the time I do have available.
  3. Timely bump. LSS jr is starting first grade a week from Monday. Meet the teacher is next week sometime. Last year, there wasn’t a kindergarten troop at our elementary so he’s been waiting a year to join scouts. We’ll sign him up at meet the teacher. I wasn’t in scouts growing up so interested to see what it’s going to be like. Hopefully it will be as fun and educational and character building as is portrayed.
  4. All good points Brew, this last one and your ones above. Between us and the kids and their friends I’m probably looking at carrying at least 8, skiing and pulling tubes. I had that old Glastron I mentioned above for most of my 20s before I passed it along to a younger cousin. Not in a super rush and tend to do my due diligence with big purchases so I’ll start looking around and be patient until the right one comes along.
  5. This is my main concern about a fish and ski. I’ve read they don’t do either well also. Between this sage take and the other one I quoted, guess I’ll start looking at ski boats.
  6. We live in The Woodlands. Don’t plan on spending much time on Lake Conroe. Not a fan of it. Would probably be driving to Canyon Lake on weekends we go out. I’m just introducing the kiddos to fishing so yep, it’s probably going to be used for more social/recreational than fishing unfortunately. Would still like to take it out myself fishing occasionally.
  7. Just put the quote above post up on the boat fanatic thread. Realize it may be sac religious to ask about a fish and ski boat on the fishing thread. If I get crucified for it so be it. I’ll take the punishment, lol. Anyone have any thoughts on a good fish and ski these days until the kids get out of the house and I can go back to a real fishing boat?
  8. Given the high end boats on this thread, not sure if this is the right place to post this. If not, delete post, ban user, etc, etc. Grew up spending pretty much every weekend I wasn’t playing ball at the lake fishing and skiing. Some of my best memories. Wife spent a ton of time doing the same (well, skiing anyway) in Calgary growing up. Have decided that we’re going to start looking at boats so we can do the same with our kiddos before they get any older. Daughter is 11 and son is 6. Boat I grew up on was a 21ft Glastron fish and ski. What is the shag consensus on good fish and ski’s now? Have looked at the Tahoe’s at Bass Pro. Look nice but haven’t run into a lot of real world reviews of them. Would like to be 21-24ft and 200+hp and under $40k new. Wouldn’t mind a good used one either but seems like the good quality ones hold value pretty well and don’t necessarily save tons of cash buying used. Anyone on here running a great weekend warrior fish and ski you love?
  9. You can do this Callo. You have it in you. Think of the end goal. You’ll feel so much better when you get there.
  10. No worries at all T’Boo. Easy to do. Lots of what I’ve read has mentioned that your cholesterol can go up on Keto the first couple of months. Doc even mentioned that might’ve the case. He wasn’t overly concerned. Hopefully it will come down when I add in exercise when I get back from vacation.
  11. Interesting to hear you say this T’Boo. Can you expound? Doc wants my LDL under 99 and my HDL over 61 according to the print out of the labs. That also matches all the literature I’ve come across on dr Google.
  12. Sweatergod this couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. 🤣
  13. What the hell, I’d be in for tree fiddy a month. Give the significance of that I think it’s a good number. Hell, might even go to $5 just for baller status. Love the Sooner/Longhorn hatred here and appreciate all the other great sub forums.
  14. This is the correct answer. After years of carrying the Swiss gear laptop backpacks my wife and kids gave me a Briggs & Riley for Fathers Day. There is no comparison. Yep, they’re pricey but worth every damn penny.
  15. Got the labs from the doc. Of the 27 metrics he screened for, the only three that came back out of range were LDL, HDL and total cholesterol. LDL is high at 176, HDL is low at 49 and total cholesterol is high at 250. So my total cholesterol/HDL cholesterol rating of 5.1 is just above the range he wants me under (5.0). No statins or medication at this point but he does want me to increase my exercise. Yeah, probably should have been doing that this whole time anyway, lol. Pretty pleased that every other metric, including A1C, triglycerides and testosterone were within expected or better than expected range. As of this morning, I'm at 184.7. That is 37 pounds down since May 14 when I started this and hits the goal I was looking for before heading to Aruba Sunday. I'll probably put on 5 - 8 pounds on vacation but it will come right back off when I get back and get hardcore back on the wagon. I'll add exercise in and see where the cholesterol readings are in 90 days at my next follow up. Keep up the great work everyone!
  16. Doc called today with part of my labs. A1C was well in line at 4.9. BP was 110/74 when I was at the office yesterday so already knew that. As for LDL/HDL/Tri's, he told me on the phone that they were "elevated" and that he wants to see me in person for a follow up Thursday. Wouldn't give me the numbers over the phone because he didn't want me playing Dr Google before we talk. Said it isn't anything to be overly concerned about but wants to talk in person. Guess I'll report back Thursday afternoon...
  17. That's okay Al. At least you're feeling better. You may not have lost anything but you didn't gain anything either. Keep at it.
  18. Keep after it and don't get discouraged Diablo. Stalls happen. Stay the course and you'll start losing again. I know it is frustrating right now but don't let that frustration turn into a back slide.
  19. Won't get labs until tomorrow but physical seemed to go well. Weight was 187 on the scale at the doc. Right in line with what the scale at home has been saying. BP was 110/74 so I'll take that in a heartbeat, pun intended, lol. As for the bloodwork, we'll wait and see. Doc was a big proponent of the keto lifestyle. Was impressed that I'm down 35 ish pounds in less than 3 months. Said he'd like to see me stay around 185 so I needed to start thinking about maintenance rather than weight loss once I lose back what I'm going to put on during vacation. Said I might need to start adding a few more carbs back in but that it's important to not bounce in and out of ketosis. Good visit overall. Like the doc's manner and the office. Guess I'll stick with him long term as a family doc. Wife went to him last week and she liked his manner too. Now to wait on the bloodwork.
  20. T - 7 days until we leave for Aruba. 186.5 this morning. Need another 1.6 pounds down in the next week to hit the goal I set for myself back when I started this May 14. Go to the dr for a physical tomorrow morning bright and early. Have absolutely no clue what my bloodwork will look like as I haven't had a physical in, oh, let's just say a while. Does decades count as a while? I'm actually kind of looking forward to seeing how the labs come back. Honestly, I have no earthly idea what all the various metrics and associated results Al posted above meant before I Googled them. Knew there was good cholesterol and bad cholesterol but couldn't tell you what either was called, lol. I'm going to school off of Al when I talk to my dr later in the week when he calls with my results. Keep up the great work everyone. Slow and steady.
  21. That's some scary shit Al. Glad you're on the other side of it again. Glad to hear you're feeling better.
  22. That definitely closes out the -6 contingent.
