  1. I treat on average one or two people a day for syphilis. Yesterday was five lol. There's been an injectable penicillin shortage for over a year now, which is the most efficacious way to treat syphilis (also the most painful). Doxycycline remains effective against the organism still, too, but there are concerns about how long that will remain the case, as doxy is starting to see widespread usage as STI prophylaxis and/or acne treatment, as well as being given to anyone who needs syphilis treatment who doesn't qualify to receive the penicillin. It can take up to nine months after contracting syphilis for it to show up in blood testing (rare but possible). During that time you are able to transmit it to others. It is possible to remain completely asymptomatic long enough until the disease enters your nervous system, at which point you need treatment ASAP or you will suffer horrible neurological effects. If you have one sexual partner, testing once a year if asymptomatic should be fine. If you have multiple partners you should get tested every three months. If you have a penis, wear a fucking condom because people with penises are a huge contributor to the intractability of the syphilis problem in Texas. It'd be nice if some of this stuff was taught in schools lmao
  2. Why's everyone so upset? They don't have a duty to protect.
  3. The fried pickles were ruined by them trying to make them fancier.
  4. So if I go into the football board, post some shit that is fabricated and/or grossly misrepresentative of a situation, mouth off about it, and then go running away while crying about how mean everyone is, then I can count on an admin to tell people to back off when I start getting called a stupid cunt or a dumb bitch or told to get my tits out of any of the other awful things that get thrown around about women in that toxic cesspool? I mean, I know I don't know any site admins irl, but I promise I'm a real person.
  5. She's fantastic and I wish she was my rep
  6. I think everyone in the movie is really great and didn't say anything about one performance being better than the other.
  7. He's fantastic in The Banshees of Inisherin, if you haven't seen that yet.
  8. Spencer Ackerman is a fantastic writer; glad to see this mentioned. He's also co-written with Evan Narcisse a four-part miniseries for DC Comics called Waller vs. Wildstorm, which is kind of like a fictionalized Cold War era Reign of Terror dealing with what happens when people who are essentially gods are involved. Three parts have been published with the fourth coming in February. Highly recommend for some relevant political/espionage fiction. Ackerman wrote a hype article for it here.
  9. Like all of his films, it will feel very intellectualized at first, until a few hours later you realize that Jonathan Glazer had plunged his hand into your chest and gripped your heart tight from the very beginning. I can't stop thinking about it. It's also hilarious how his adaptation process seems to take less and less from its source material with each film he makes (not a spoiler). The first five or so minutes (hard to tell) almost made me feel like I was starting trip. Incredible sound design. Pre-show felt like a Seinfeldian problem: was it okay to order popcorn during a movie like The Zone of Interest? We decided that it was fine. Didn't feel like anyone else in the theater gave it a second thought.
