  1. Not just that, but development on the fringes of recruiting classes is very important. Turning 3 star types like Murphy/Sweat, Chris Olave, Jordan Davis and Ladd McConkey into Day 1 guys can push a talented program over the edge. That said, the name of the game is still stacking your team with stud top 20 guys that require minimal development to contribute at a high level.
  2. He does clearly state the issue in the article - had he left earlier, his former coaching staff would have had the opportunity to search for jobs during a window where there were plenty of openings. This article does not lay enough blame on the UCLA athletic department for its role in this clown show, but Chip Kelly behaved like a narcissistic dirtbag just as he did for his whole tenure.
  3. Proximity to Austin is a huge draw. Major advantage over sip.
  4. This is evergreen Aggies. We're losing all of our best players but it's good because we'll field a bunch of red ass good Ags who trained like Navy SEALS.
  5. Elk didn't like what he saw in winter practice. Matthews couldn't compete with the Sun Belt all stars and got processed.
  6. Surly is apoplectic if Quinn Ewers throws it behind someone when we're up 28 so not really the best barometer.
  7. Ha that somehow went right over my head!
  8. Cronin has a team with an average of 1 year of experience per player that's just won 8 of its last 10 games. I happen to watch every UCLA and Texas game and that team plays much better basketball with drastically worse talent.
  9. I don't blame the players because if you watch teams coached by Mick Cronin, Chris Beard and Kelvin Sampson, each player expends maximum amount of effort and focus on the offensive/defensive boards and defensively. I don't think we have a particularly lazy group of guys.
  10. The effort level of this team is subpar generally. I don't really blame the players, they're clearly not coached to play with the right level of intensity.
  11. If this kid puts on another 20 lbs I'll forgive him for the prank.
  12. I think it's going to be sips got lucky they played Michigan post-Harbaugh + ESiPN didn't give them a real SEC schedule because they didn't play Tennesssee, Ole Miss or Bama. And then the usual "sips are actually 8-4 because they got lucky/bailed out by the refs and should have lost against x, y and z." If we go into the Georgia game undefeated one of them might actually Lee Harvey Oswald Sark
  13. It's only right that there are two of us
  14. His first mistake here is introducing the concept of reality on TexAgs. Ban incoming.
  15. Tony White or Troy Taylor both reciprocated interest and certainly would've been better hires. It's weird in that they made a kind of Rodney Terry type hire that will keep the current players happy, but they don't really have any players that are worth keeping happy. Genuinely would've been better off tearing it down to the studs with Tony White and going from there. With respect to NIL, there's actually a decent amount of money guys who have been on the sidelines and said they would not contribute as long as CK was there. Not sure that Foster will move the needle there, but if he's willing to have a few drinks/hit the links with those guys it'll be a major improvement. The current administration seems to want UCLA to become Cal which is bizarre.
  16. How the hell did we lose to this team in Morgantown.
  17. Tyrese Hunter might not be a Power 5 player.
  18. Eh. UCLA was reasonably talented when Chip got there (the previous 4 recruiting classes hovered in the 15-20 range) and he proceeded to drop them down to the 30-50 range. Mora won 37 games in a 4 year stretch and CK's best years were 8/9/8 wins with truly some of the softest schedules in P5 history. He's kind of the reverse Jimbo, completely abandoned talent acquisition in favor of "culture" guys and Xs and Os.
  19. It's so great. Recruits love to say "[Insert Rival School] offered me 2x the NIL but I chose [Righteous Upstanding School] instead." and fanbases eat it right up. See it on every reddit recruiting thread.
  20. Tyrese Hunter is genuinely terrible. A negative player. His development has basically reversed since transferring and is a black eye on Rodney Terry.
  21. You are not allowed to do the "I hate college football these days" thing when you are less than a month removed from winning a national championship with 4 excellent transfers starting.
  22. This is pretty interesting, have you heard that Stanford is ramping up NIL operations to compete in football? As far as I can remember, they've only really landed a few guys from Mater Dei who were sought after nationally in the last few recruiting cycles and obviously they have to battle probably the toughest admissions hurdles of any P5 program.
  23. The funny thing is they don't even really fantasize about beating us themselves, they just expect big brothers Bama, Georgia and LSU to do so. It's hilarious that they've spent a decade getting whipped and, instead of developing a dislike of those programs, they have some weird Stockholm Syndrome. Aggies are a naturally subservient group.
  24. Having 4-5 starter level WRs also makes you injury proof. I particularly like this one because he brings a different element than the other guys and can maintain production for us in the slot.
