  1. I'd like to see an analysis of Keith Law as a prospect ranker on a 20-80 scale
  2. Free agents the Dodgers signed between 10am and 2pm yesterday
  3. Tyler Ivey and Forrest Whitley on the same MLB roster would be like seeing Elvis riding the Loch Ness monster. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6050949/2025/01/13/astros-tyler-ivey-comeback/
  4. Pujols is the manager. Montero let him experience being an Astros fan in 2005.
  5. Always loved Bill Doran. Hatcher, too. Felt like Pete Harnisch would be a good guy in a fight.
  6. I would give Bregman one day and then move on
  7. Bregman is never going to be loved like Altuve
  8. Law has Cam Smith at 43, no Melton Smith was a draft-eligible sophomore last year who reworked his swing and his body to surge to a .387/.488/.654 line in his sophomore year at Florida State, raising his average by over 100 points, and landing with the Cubs at the No. 13 pick. He then had the best pro debut of any prospect in the draft, hitting .313/.396/.609 across three levels and finishing up in Double A. That ended his Cubs career, as they traded him to Houston in the Kyle Tucker deal this offseason, immediately making him the Astros’ No. 1 prospect. Smith’s swing gets the bat to the zone quickly, and he makes a lot of very hard contact, topping out over 115 mph in the spring for Florida State, and the Cubs already managed to get him to lift the ball more often to turn that loud contact into more power. He’s only played third base since signing and that’s his best long-term outcome; that seemed like wishful thinking as recently as 2023, but his improved conditioning gives him a chance to stay there, with first base or right field also possibilities. He looks like he can flat-out hit, and might get to 25 homers too. If he does that as a third baseman, he might be able to fill Alex Bregman’s shoes in Houston and make a few All-Star teams. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6078454/2025/01/27/top-100-mlb-prospects-2025-keith-law/
  9. What if two of the TJs are each of LMJ's arms?
  10. Thanks for the great memories, Pressly.
  11. Have you played outfield before? Altuve: Have you seen me? https://x.com/lorenzodelgad0/status/1883243806570783084/mediaViewer?currentTweet=1883243806570783084&currentTweetUser=lorenzodelgad0
  12. I worship him and am so pissed that he isn't universally beloved.
  13. If Pressly accepts the trade, thank you for a great career here. They knew he wasn't optimized in Minnesota, and he is an Astros hero. Or welcome back, can't wait for you to have a great 2025!
  14. Pena is a good defensive SS, Walker is a good defensive 1B, and Bregman is a good defensive 3B. If Bregman comes back, it'd be nuts to move any of them.
  15. A Yordan-Altuve LF platoon is visually hilarious to imagine. Seeing the two of them side by side, shagging flies... I assume Paredes would move--hopefully Walker's defensive excellence helps with Altuve's loss of range.
  16. I think the Daik is wave-proof.
  17. I wondered about Altuve in LF as his defense declines. Well, he's a fucking pimp anywhere
  18. Just remember that .833 was his fielding percentage at third, not his OPS
  19. Whoa whoa, spoiler that. Too soon
  20. It's baseball. Any team can win 4 of 7.
  21. Whoever didn't vote for Ichiro, fuck you
  22. I remember Peter Gammons saying "wait until the people in Houston see this guy's arm" when we drafted Wagner. Congratulations to him
  23. Boras and Bregman really fucked this up and now because of pride have to find something that seems "better" than what they turned down. They also failed to account for the fact that so many fanbases hate Bregman. Oh well, he'll be fine in life. Boras, I mean.
  24. It's ok, I feel.bad for you that you drafted Caleb Williams
  25. They should go back to Bobby Layne
