  1. I don’t think I was wrong either. People see me as their punching bag and I picked the absolute wrong thread to argue my case. Carry on.
  2. Electricity is still increasing, but oil has been flat (thank god because we don’t have enough oil), yet your point remains. US consumption doesn’t matter though. Most of the world population are in developing nations with skyrocketing energy needs.
  3. I’m going to attempt to stop this right now: I’m sorry. This isn’t the thread for discussing economics and proper investment and I lost that. My “Gretas” comment was directed at those that would dispense with our entire energy feedstock complex to benefit the environment. I strongly feel that is not realistic for any nation, and made comments to that effect. I understand that there are quite a few in a Climate thread that will feel differently and this isn’t the place to argue about it. I agree with you on a lot, and we can argue about this elsewhere if you choose.
  4. Actually it wasn’t. Glad you recognize it but I feel like I’m speaking to a bunch of Gretas on this thread. Renewables are not a large scale answer for EROI reasons. In no way am I preventing change. I’m discussing reality. Reducing consumption will NEVER happen. It’s a pipe dream and is a waste of time to discuss. I don’t think you realize how much damage Trump is doing to oil prices.
  5. I’m aware. Specifically, what is the direct connection between any individual hurricane or wildfire and fossil fuels? There is a direct connection between fossil fuel operations and seismic activity.
  6. How will the world function without fossil fuels? Second bolded part - what is the connection between multiple large hurricanes and wildfires to fossil fuels?
  7. He’d get too offended, block people, and cry about it on the air.
  8. Bob wouldn’t last on Surly.
  9. The uproar around the statement is surprising. People aren’t as apathetic as I am.
  10. I thought Mack and Colt were great.
  11. Clinton and Bush aren’t really at fault. It was a collective failure, but they’re not businessmen, and they’re not the head of the Fed. They got elected in part to keep the good times rolling. In fact, nobody will remember it this way but I think Bush’s Paulsen and Bernanke did a very handy job of getting us out of the shit.
  12. I’m not saying you or anyone was saying that. Not sure how you inferred that. Just general people commenting on it, and those sentiments flex up to institutions that the markets ostensibly pay attention to. Yeah I think Russians have a little less choice in their life. But I don’t know shit about they really.
  13. It’s amusing how many not involved in the industry think fingers can be snapped and production will resume. That might be a little hyperbole, but I don’t think most people ever consider this and I’m including people at organizations like the IEA, EIA and API.
  14. I’m not wrong. I don’t think it’s the end all be all; don’t attribute that to me. I think it’s a highly determinative factor and drives where investment will go if subsidies weren’t a factor. EROI absolutely IS a driving economical metric and to ignore it is utterly disingenuous. Totally agreed on nukes. Nuclear is the wave of the future. Renewables will be forgotten at some point in the not too distant future. We will all be dead.
  15. Oil and gas relative to any renewable. Google.
  16. @HateStroud was already listed and I agree
  17. Stafford and Goff all day over Dak, and I’ve been saying that for years. Would also rather have Daniels, Purdy, Baker and Love. Not sure about Caleb. Yet.
  18. No, fossil fuels have significantly higher EROI.
  19. Yeah I know. That’s the only reason I posted in the thread. Because I want to like it. I just don’t. However, you bailed on 2 of the best shows ever. And I doubt Slow Horses goes the way of GOT with its rush to finish and frankly subpar last 2 seasons.
  20. This show is fucking stupid. I’ve tried too hard to like it. All the acting talent in the world. Weird weird story and colossal waste of my time.
  21. I haven’t read through all your post but they’re sitting in very close proximity to the biggest gas field in North America, have for quite some time, and refuse to build the adequate infrastructure to deliver it to the most populous markets. It is insanely moronic what they have done. There are exactly two geographic regions that behave like this, at the express expense of their own populace: California and NY/NE. Every other region in the US including Colorado would’ve been delivering cheap relatively clean natural gas to their populace 10 years ago.
  22. This is precisely how many major northeast markets get their natural gas. Little places like Boston.
  23. Lol. A state owned refinery. In CA. Yeah that’ll fail miserably. You’re correct. Because without government subsidies, because of its very low EROI, renewables wouldn’t comprise the mix they do.
  24. Julie isn’t any kind of hot. She insists upon herself as an on-air personality. She was like Detty on steroids. That’s good news. Yes he and Jub need to take SOTA seriously.
