  1. 3 SUVs with one teenage driver. My “littles” are turning 15 in 2 months and 13 in 6 months. I am fucked.
  2. I wasn’t aware they blocked roads. I’ve been duped. I still don’t see leadership near the quality of MLK and some other blacks of the civil rights era or Ghandi in any of these movements. I’m aware of early Christian periods, but I’m not sure why you’re lumping them in here. Did they protest? Cause chaos? Tell me more.
  3. I don’t recall ever hearing America thought he was the most dangerous negro in the land but rather than was ascribed to Malcolm X. And I’ve read quite of unflattering MLK datapoints. I do agree with the basic tenor of your post. The memorializing of the man today is quite a reduction.
  4. Not really, but glad you find my flawless logic funny.
  5. I disagree with your first paragraph, but mainly because of the reports of leadership. But I don’t really know, and I know they had several instances of blocking traffic. I agree with your sentiment of the subject thread here. And I have a more favorable opinion of Abbott than most.
  6. That is funny. But that’s a kid wasting his time and trying to get attention to be funny. This is also funny: But neither dude would get a reaction from me if I walked right past them.
  7. Yes but some have just causes. War being one, and back in the mid 2000s, I disagreed with their cause (I feel differently now). Protestors today block roadways, ruin art, and generally make people AGAINST their cause. Contrast that with what King did. Regardless if 2/3rd of the country saw him as an uppity negro in ‘66, there is no comparison.
  8. I was not one of them. I was born in 1978. But I get your point. MLK is viewed favorably now, but I doubt the professional protestor/crazies representing a suite of causes from the Tea Party to Hamas to Just Stop Oil to January 6th will be viewed favorably with even the most generous range of hindsight.
  9. None. Feelings. Money, kids’ school, marriage, work concerns, investment concerns, vacations, watches, Argentina work trip, drinking, my weight, my health, my mortality, my Dad’s health, my kids’ health, my insurance premiums, my insurance coverage, my status as a soon-to-be owner of 5 cars. Off top of my head. All concerns of varying import. Nothing ever vocalized or discussed here. All weigh on me.
  10. I don’t. I never should’ve offered feedback. I saw several others that shared my sentiment and I spoke up in agreement, and perhaps unlike them, I post in CR. I do not care that a person I do not know, and does not know me, thinks I’m an idiot. He’s probably right that the issues that me and others have written about here wouldn’t change, specifically, what he’s talking about. I probably shifted his concern to what irks ME about this place, and I know it irks a large swath of posters here. However, he continues to insist that pervasive and divisive political talk here isn’t an issue, and he’s wrong. It’s an obvious fix, too. But it’s also really easy to just walk away from, so the State of Surly doesn’t crack the Top 25 of my life’s concerns.
  11. No, we’re about as fucked up and divided as we were in the 60s. You think the modern-day protestor helps or exacerbates that divisiveness? Protesting Iraq and Afghanistan wars were worthy causes. I stand corrected. It’s doubtful this board would deem women’s suffrage and Dr. King’s civil rights marches neither as unnecessary nor grandstanding.
  12. Nah. That was different. Note my use of “modern”. Words are important.
  13. I’m not good with any modern protestor. I think they’re all whining grandstanding whores.
  14. Lol. I’ve got plenty of support. I’m out weirdo.
  15. I’m very anti-Trump, bitch about him on the oil thread constantly, and generally don’t bitch about CR. I occasionally post in there. I don’t get negged to death. The only time I bring this up is when imma does what he does: intimates he wants feedback and then subsequently calls everyone freeloading (? - I’ve never attended a tailgate and never would) idiots when doing so. I’m totally fine with the way things are. If it’s too toxic, and it frequently is, I just log off and go elsewhere.
  16. Glad I provided feedback and can’t wait to get a membership and provide $ to your site.
  17. Of course. I don’t really care. Correct. Texas a much bigger deal than Duke. Your argument is terrible. MM is not a good QB.
  18. I did when it came out. First of all, it’s not that funny. My humor has evolved as I’ve gotten older, but that doesn’t approach thujone’s gems or USC versus greatest armies. It’s mildly funny but contrived. Where you’re wrong on the CR is people don’t want to contribute because they’re simply not around because of the hate. And, yes, it deters future content creators from joining. This place is a leftist cesspool. I hate Trump, but you’ve let the looney control your site.
  19. Wow. Great take, considering MM was run out of Duke.
  20. One and only one. I left, and came back. Who the fuck are you? You know what, I don’t care.
  21. You sure seem to know a lot about why your site is dying and sure seem to shit all over suggestions to make it better. If it’s primarily a football and recruiting board, it stands to reason it could do without CR. But what do I know, I just have a stupid ass fucking narrative!
  22. It’s 100% an echo chamber and the former Republican bullshit is a plot device. 100%. Sounds good Peter.
  23. I tried to make the point to @immamactuat CR was negatively affecting the site, BEFORE the election. I was laughed at, albeit by many in addition to him. I agree with everything you’re saying. The ignore feature here is worthless because everyone quotes the people I ignore, because they’re the most polarizing. Your quote of Captainant just below this post and people’s frequent quoting of Fantana are prime examples. The ignore feature’s lack of functionality is a problem. If I were Imma, I’d jettison CR to a separate site and outlaw heavily political talk on DT. It’d help the divisiveness here.
