Fucking Nahlin. that's some lazy ass shit. He surely just looked at the Clemson S offers and was like "Clemson will pull in Ryan or Davis who are both ranked higher than Mukuba. Because: Clemson". I guess Nahlin could be right in the end because: Clemson. I would be stunned if Ryan didn't end up at LSU and if he didn't end up at LSU it would be Bama. Davis is a tOSU vs. PSU battle. Mukuba is Texas vs. Clemson. I don't doubt Dabo and his staff but they aren't simply plucking Ryan or Davis away and are running 3rd for both.

I think LSU will get Davis if they don’t get Ryan. PSU is really struggling in recruiting rn, and I’ve seen them lose a lot PGH area guys to other schools over the past decade when they should have landed about half of them.

  2. While I’m emptying out thoughts unrelated to this game (fuck Giannis), I’d be surprised if Kawhi doesn’t lock in (and get George to elevate some) and get the Clips to at least the Finals. Obviously this board is Spurs-heavy so y’all will partly disagree, but he’s just an incredible player and somehow one of my favorites now.

I'm not saying that. I'm agreeing with you. Just wanted to correct you.

The Warriors lost 2 games to LeBron playing without Irving and Love in 2015 (Irving might have played in one win - feel free to correct me). That 2013 Heat team would have broken them. Their perimeter defense was all-time level.

Honestly I forgot about the Cavs’ injuries during that series as I was a bit averse to watching it because of the Rockets loss a few weeks earlier (I’ve learned to expect similar outcomes every year now). Changing topics a bit, I think Morey/Fertitta/Harden were foolish in thinking that adding Russ would elevate the team to being Finals-caliber.

I dont think he's a playoff choker, either, but he got swept in 2015 and was down 2-0 before losing in 5 in 2018.

And I'd hardly call the 2015 Warriors team a juggernaut. They are the weakest title team since the 2011 Mavs.

You’re right about them not being a juggernaut, but I think the ‘15 Warriors were better than the Raptors last year and close to the ‘13 Heat. Also, that ‘15 series was AD’s first, and he had little talent surrounding him. You can’t even say he’s struggled in the playoffs if you go back and look at his stats each series.

Miami could lose this game and three more right after and it doesn't really change any of what's being talked about here. He's a superstar just below the "top tier" of 3-5 guys. You could rank him as high as #5 (behind LeBron, Curry, Giannis, and Kawhi) and it would be a reasonable take, even if a bit outside of the mainstream consensus. I'd have him at #7, I think, by adding Harden and AD above him. And even those two guys aren't slam dunks, AD and Harden are both playoff chokers and Jimmy doesn't appear to be. Maybe Luka next year above him as well.

AD isn’t a playoff choker. He recovered well against Portland, and he was up against two Warriors juggernaut teams in ‘15 and ‘18.

  6. They have a few borderline draftable guys on the d line, but like you said, the offense is horrible. They lost their three best offensive players with nobody good to replace them, and every QB on their roster has a ceiling of just being average. They really should lose every game on their schedule.

  7. I don’t have any opinions on Mandel’s reporting related to COVID, but I’ve been disappointed with his national coverage of the sport for a few years now. The Athletic would be great if Bruce Feldman were the main reporter, but Mandel is simultaneously bland and unlikable. He tries to put every team in a box and criticize/praise them based upon that box while other reporters like Feldman actually envision changes in teams over time.

They're going to miss Malone and Turner to tOSU and Texas/Bama, ignore their backup plans too long and miss them, but maybe get Adeleye and Robbins because their commitable offer lists will have severely dwindled.

Ohio St is becoming less confident in getting Malone. It seems like he wants to go south, and his top 4 in the south are A&M, Ole Miss, FSU, and Tennessee. Their fans really think the B1G canceling hurt them, but I’d guess they’re still in his top 2/3.

It is on brand that Gundy ejected 2/5 of his OL for breaking the rules and Mullen was like "why dontcha boys take a day off?"

I’m SHOCKED Dan Mullen has a number of players on his roster that don’t follow any rules, respect authority or their teammates, and generally are all in it for themselves.

I think Mullen is smart for doing this if he wants to keep his job in the future. Nobody else in the SEC except for Vandy is going to do anything beyond making players sit briefly if they break rules, but Mullen is definitely still a sneaky guy.

All 3 of Florida's projected starting WR's didn't practice today and rumors all 3 may be opting out.  A starting DE didn't practice either.

It seems like the players who didn’t practice were held out rather than opted out. Supposedly Grimes, Copeland, Toney, and Zachary Carter (3 WR and one DE) were the only four on the team found at bars/big parties. I think Mullen is hoping that’ll spur them to get in line with the rest of the team, and they especially need 2/3 of those receivers to play if they’re going to meet their goals.

They likely aren't getting both of Florida and Georgia so the worst possible draw is probably one of those teams with Kentucky.

I say that because I think Kentucky will be better than both Missouri and Tennessee next season.

I think Tennessee has a good shot to be better than Kentucky this year. They quietly had a better defense last year and have an improving (maybe even good) o-line along with better skill players. Kentucky of course has an elite o line, but I think they might waste it and lose 3-4 games anyway.

hand loves this kid & its not hard to see why

maryland michigan st & oklahoma st r all making big moves looks like hand might miss on another ol :(

hand had an advantage too because of the gc but with the dead period this one started trending away

just have to wade out the hand ol misses until carrington gets involved which should be soon

Most people on Rutgers boards (yes, they exist) don’t even consider him committed anymore. I hope Charlie Dickey at Okie Lite doesn’t get him because he’d turn into at least a quality starter there.

OU and aggy recently offered this OL from the Golden Triangle area.

ASU has been the first school to offer tons of prospects all across the country since Herm arrived. It’ll be interesting to see if that approach pays off by turning a great season in the next few years into a top 10-15 class.

Pittman's a good recruiter, and his OL should be salty, but I think the jury is still extremely out on that hire given that he's never been more than a position coach at the college level.

I think there's one thing in their favor - that program has been mired in the dumps since McFadden was running around, and getting a super energetic guy that is absolutely fucking STOKED to be the head coach there isn't the worst idea.

Lol, pittman has done well in recruiting so far. Can he coach? Can he turn that dumpster fire into something respectable? Can he even get the respect of the team (something morris couldnt do)? Lots of ifs before they even get to mediocre.

I’m rooting for him to succeed because I want to see more OL coaches get a shot at HC. I really like his coordinator hires and a few of his position coach hires. They desperately need a good QB early on to jump start their turnaround. They have a really good crop of young receivers and Rakeem Boyd at RB (if they get to play this year). It’ll definitely be tough to turn it around given who they have to play each year, but I’m more confident in Pittman doing it than I was when he was first hired.

didn't see this - but this is one of the aggy targets in the Gulf -- 6'3" WR/CB

Solomon Wright flipped from Tech to Arky today. Tech fans seem pretty mad about it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes a good player for them. I had doubts about Pittman, but I’m actually pretty impressed with their class so far. They’ll have to settle for the high upside players first, but that should help them at least pull even with the Mississippi schools (and maybe even aggy down the road).
