  1. I cannot remember a time I laughed harder in my adult life than when I tried to explain this (the actual press conference) to my wife.
  2. Fucking political prognosticating Nate's, man. I listened to the other one (Silver) for one election cycle and learned my lesson.
  3. I'm considering a similar trip maybe right after labor day next year. Would have a 15 month-old in tow. I've been looking at Naxos. Seems relatively low-key compared to some islands, but plenty of restaurants, good beaches and the highest peak in the Cyclades to hike up. Anyone have any experience there? I'm already having to convince the wife that we do not want to spend a week on the clusterfuck that is Santorini.
  4. Or January 6. Not to mention climate. We can't remember what happened 6 months ago. Thinking ahead is so far above our heads, just like the ocean will be.
  5. 'Tis the season to further strain family relationships right before the holidays!
  6. Ibuprofen, bro. You're going to need your liver the next month.
  7. I've learned to try to avoid car naps as much as possible, no matter what. He sleeps for 5 minutes in the car and then does not want to go down at all for a regular nap.
  8. I doubt my wife would leave the kid behind completely at this stage. The grandparents are happy to do it and won't be on baby duty constantly, but will give us the opportunity to get out on our own at least once or twice.
  9. We're kind of in between Tulum and Playa del Carmen. We will probably spend most of the time within the resort itself to test the travel waters slowly.
  10. We have a 5 month-old and would like to get some traveling in before trying for a 2nd, and final child. What advice can you give me for traveling with a 6-18 month old, other than don't do it? We're already heading to an all-inclusive near Tulum in January, with grandparents as back-up, but would love to do a big international trip later next year, if possible.

    Brazil

    Some outlets calling it.

    Brazil

Over 1 mil ahead now with 90% in
  13. Anyone else watching Brazilian election results come in? Seems like something the news should maybe cover more.
  14. Just here to pile on. Sid Miller? Jesus fucking christ, dude.
  15. Cross-posting from the fascism thread, the Amazon is on the ballot in Brazil tomorrow. South American Trump (Bolsonaro) looking to win or steal the election, then continue bulldozing/burning the rainforest. Cool...
  16. I was about to post this in the climate thread. The existence of the Amazon is essentially on the ballot.
  17. Regardless of the result, I'll be spending 11/8 drinking like I'm watching a Texas 2nd half collapse. I should probably start hydrating now so at least my hangover is manageable if democracy's 2-year extension doesn't go through.
  18. It really would be fascinating to watch if this wasn't our only home. A decade ago, I would've guessed the severe effects wouldn't occur until near the end of my life, or after. How this is all just an afterthought to most people, and not at the front of their minds on a daily basis, really blows my mind.
  19. Yea, let's not get political. Let's just get racist. South Korean robots, wtf?
  20. Hoping to go the Baylor game the day after Thanksgiving. Any idea when gametime will be announced or if we are likely in a particular time slot?
  21. Oceanic heat waves in the Bering Sea wiping out crabs
  22. Imagine millions of people being so obsessed with a smooth-brained narcissist that they build their entire lives and self-worth around him, completely hijacking an entire political party who is too pussy to take a stand against him, thus forcing the rest of us to hear about him constantly.
  23. Last night was night one. Putting him down in the crib was actually not an issue, but he was up every couple hours and really struggled to go back to sleep after waking up at 4. Hasn't been too much worse than the snoo this last week though. He did somehow flip himself onto his stomach, perpendicular to the long axis of the crib, with his legs through the slats.
  24. 4 month sleep regression is fun. Any thoughts on transitioning from the Snoo to a crib at this stage, since it's going to be miserable either way?
  25. Any chance that thing that formed in the Gulf brings us anything?
