I'm considering a similar trip maybe right after labor day next year. Would have a 15 month-old in tow. I've been looking at Naxos. Seems relatively low-key compared to some islands, but plenty of restaurants, good beaches and the highest peak in the Cyclades to hike up. Anyone have any experience there? I'm already having to convince the wife that we do not want to spend a week on the clusterfuck that is Santorini.
Or January 6. Not to mention climate. We can't remember what happened 6 months ago. Thinking ahead is so far above our heads, just like the ocean will be.
I've learned to try to avoid car naps as much as possible, no matter what. He sleeps for 5 minutes in the car and then does not want to go down at all for a regular nap.
I doubt my wife would leave the kid behind completely at this stage. The grandparents are happy to do it and won't be on baby duty constantly, but will give us the opportunity to get out on our own at least once or twice.
We're kind of in between Tulum and Playa del Carmen. We will probably spend most of the time within the resort itself to test the travel waters slowly.
We have a 5 month-old and would like to get some traveling in before trying for a 2nd, and final child. What advice can you give me for traveling with a 6-18 month old, other than don't do it?
We're already heading to an all-inclusive near Tulum in January, with grandparents as back-up, but would love to do a big international trip later next year, if possible.
Cross-posting from the fascism thread, the Amazon is on the ballot in Brazil tomorrow. South American Trump (Bolsonaro) looking to win or steal the election, then continue bulldozing/burning the rainforest. Cool...
Regardless of the result, I'll be spending 11/8 drinking like I'm watching a Texas 2nd half collapse. I should probably start hydrating now so at least my hangover is manageable if democracy's 2-year extension doesn't go through.
It really would be fascinating to watch if this wasn't our only home. A decade ago, I would've guessed the severe effects wouldn't occur until near the end of my life, or after. How this is all just an afterthought to most people, and not at the front of their minds on a daily basis, really blows my mind.
Imagine millions of people being so obsessed with a smooth-brained narcissist that they build their entire lives and self-worth around him, completely hijacking an entire political party who is too pussy to take a stand against him, thus forcing the rest of us to hear about him constantly.
Last night was night one. Putting him down in the crib was actually not an issue, but he was up every couple hours and really struggled to go back to sleep after waking up at 4. Hasn't been too much worse than the snoo this last week though. He did somehow flip himself onto his stomach, perpendicular to the long axis of the crib, with his legs through the slats.
I spent 18 months in neighboring Wise county (2019-2020). If there was a silver lining to the pandemic, it was that it gave me further reason not to interact with the residents of that shithole.
