  1. That's either a parody, or that dude is related to Bubb Rubb. He can tell a damn story.
  2. That scenario makes no sense. KU basketball is worth 10X KSt's entire athletic department. Why would KSt be included but not KU? And why would Tech not be included but TCU and Baylor would? Small private schools add nothing.
  3. Seriously never gets old. I sent this to my 65 year-old uncle in SC who is a big time USC supporter, donator, seating ticket holder, etc. He wrote back "that's the funniest thing I've ever seen."
  4. "While the SEC has not proactively sought new members..."
  5. Ted Lasso is a Van Halen fan. 5150 was the name of the first Van Halen album with Sammy.
  6. To be fair, below was his statement. The first sentence is far off, although TCU was 8-4 that year and started 8-1. In 1984, Kenneth Davis rush for 1600+ yards with 7.6 TPC average. So yea, he would probably be a Heisman front runner going into 1985. I have no idea to his fate or TCU paying players. I swear, some of you people are fucking autistic with the level of post scrutiny. Understand the point of the post. Don't be Rainman. That was a movie btw. Look it up while counting the toothpicks you dropped on the floor.
  7. I had forgotten that line. But now I remember I had to explain it to my wife.
  8. He's led an incredibly interesting and diverse life. His wikipedia page is fascinating.
  9. Wearing the hood? Maybe they don't feel like putting on sunscreen, but still don't want melanoma?
  10. Seriously, though, don't come to Crested Butte. Nothing to do here that 13-15 year old boys would love, unless they're into fishing, hiking, camping, mountain bike riding, hanging out at lakes, etc.
  11. Define "local flavor." Meaning BBQ or Tex-Mex? Or a good restaurant, even if not particularly "Texan"? I have no idea as to how open for business these places are, but here are some ideas: Roaring Fork Z-tejas (yes, I know it's a chain, but I've never been disappointed) South Congress area--Guero's, Perla's, etc Ranch 616 used to be popular, but no idea if it's still around Salt Lick was a good suggestion. Out of towners love that place. Gloria's Hula Hut Or you can go out to a brewery that does food. Like ABGB, Jester King, etc. That's pretty local flavor. Or Vista Brewing out in Driftwood. Nice drive, sit outside, listen to music, etc.
  12. I'm 95% sure we figured out on the Shag that we went to elem. through High School together in NW Houston. And college for that matter. And with that being the case, I'm pretty sure I either bought one of the mags or shared in the fun from someone that did. LOL.
  13. She's the One. Also an underrated movie.
  14. Was on a flight to Europe and was in Economy Plus and had chosen an aisle seat. It was in the middle section (5 seats across). A mom and 3 kids sit down to fill up our row, and I'm just listening to some music when I see a guy waving at me from the row in front to get my attention. He's the dad in the family and asks if I mind switching seats so he can sit with his family. He was standing in the aisle, so I had no idea where his seat was, but in my head I'm thinking, "yea, no big deal assuming he's in an aisle in Economy Plus. But nobody would ask this if they're offering something less." I reach down to grab my backpack and ask where his seat is. He points to the middle fucking seat in the row directly in front of us, with a smile on his face. I asked if he was serious...he was...and I just laughed, put my backpack down, and my earplugs back in. No verbal answer needed.
  15. I hadn't heard that. I met him a few times and he seemed like a good guy. csb alert! My uncle was his high school principal, and one time I was at the Rose with my cousin (my uncle's son) and DK came by to ask how everything was. We were at a regular table, so he really had no reason to come check on us. My cousin mentioned my uncle, and DK's face lit up and said he owed much of his success to my uncle. Apparently DK was a high school fuck-up, but my uncle worked with him and saw some inherent brains and wrote him a recommendation for a job, or college, or something like that. Basically refused to give up on the guy. Anyway, DK was forever grateful and said he really didn't think anyone changed the path of his life more than my uncle. He sat and shot the shit for like 20 min, and said anytime my cousin came back to tell the waitress to let DK know. We didn't abuse the offer, but we went a few times and let the waitress know, and we got varying types of free stuff.
  16. I saw him for the first and last time when he played his last show in Austin right before he died. One thing I was struck by was how tight the music sounded. There was great energy, Petty sounded great, and they sounded so in sync together. Maybe they were always like that, maybe that's just what it sounds like when you've been playing together for 40 years, maybe it was just a good night...I don't know. But my thought as I was leaving was how serious they took their job of putting on a show. I was devastated when Petty died that I'd never get to hear them play again. Definitely regret not seeing him sooner.

    Getting old sucks

Yet you claimed 20 minutes in 2 different posts, and said you did it "a few times". Glad you came clean. Let's not miss the good advice in that going for regular walks everyday is a really good habit. If you can't carve out 40-60 minutes a day, try for multiple 20-30 minutes walks. Early morning and evening walks are a good way to beat the heat as well as convenient with most schedules. You just have to make yourself do it.

    Getting old sucks

I think the point is people found it amusing that you advocated going for regular walks, which is really good advice, then said you do 3 miles in 20 minutes. That isn't anything close to resembling a walk. That may cause an average 47year old to drop dead.
  19. We had to go to the ER for some reason years ago, and now I can't remember if it was my wife or my son. But we went to the ER at an in-network hospital. Got a bill from the Dr. who treated us. He's contracted by the hospital, and he's out of our network. Uh, fuck you dude. If I'm at an in-network hospital, do I need to check insurance coverage of the Dr. that I have no choice on?
  20. If that's true, then the process was not automatic. We flew to Mexico the week before Memorial Day. My Global Entry expired the week before. Access Denied.
  21. My next door neighbor is a mid 50's 2nd/3rd Gen alum, donor, season ticket holder in multiple sports, etc. We were talking a few weeks ago about expectations in football and basketball, and I asked him if he posts of lurks on any message board. He said "Yea! Hornfans.com". I looked at him puzzled, and he spelled it for me. I said "yea, I know how to spell it, I didn't know it was still in operation. I thought it shut down a decade ago." Apparently he just discovered it and has really found a home. The posts at the beginning of this thread scare the shit out of me about what sort of human he is.
