  1. Any bbq on the menu for tomorrow? Will be stopping by for lunch.
  2. Gus Johnson needs to be brought in to make the final call. Everything else is a bearing and I turn off the sound.
  3. Also, I played Pebble 25 years ago. Probably the worst round of my life. But my $/shot at Pebble was better than most. So victory?
  4. Is there anything better than Darren Clarke pimping whiskey?
  5. The players complaining is warranted in this case. The USGA has made a mockery of some of the greatest courses in the country. You are ok with Brooks calling out the players, but not ok with the players calling out the USGA. It may come across as whining, but I don't enjoy watching the US Open nearly as much as the other majors. That's squarely on the USGA. Narrow fairways, penalizing rough, tough hard fast (but fair) greens. Success. Instead they decided to change that strategy and turn it into a putt-putt championship. All that they have been missing was a windmill to hit it through. It is less a test of golfing ability, strategy, and nerves than it used to be. I'd rather find that out than watch the best in the game lag putt from 10' because they don't want it to roll 20' down the hill.
  6. Bitching about people bitching is still bitching. I respect the hell out of what he's done, but spurned bitch isn't a good look. If thats what he thrives on, then good for him. I do appreciate he doesn't provide canned, media ready answers. But we know his position now and he needs to slow it down.
  7. I liked Monty a lot more after he retired. Like Faldo his personality away from the course is very different.
  8. I used to hate Nick Faldo in his playing days and he's a favorite now. IP is kind of the same. He can be irritating as fuck on the course (especially during the Ryder Cup), but overall a pretty cool guy. Whoever said, I love to hate him in the Ryder Cup is right. He's an annoying dildo, but fuck if he doesn't back it up when it matters. I can respect that as a fan, even if he isn't on my team.
  9. P. Terry's sucks. Shortstop was great, then I got food poisoning so I haven't been back since the mid-90's. But I didn't mention them because the 2-burger/2-fry deal for $5 was badass as a college student. Top Notch still kicks if you need a thin burger. Or hit up Whataburger if you need that fast food chain experience.
  10. Fucking this. I lived about 1/2 a block from Crown and ate the $3.25 burger and fries (with a beer or several) enough that I'll be lucky to make it to 50. Posse was great too. As an engineer, it was just too convenient to my classes and it was cheap.
  11. I wrote an article for the hs newspaper in the early 90s on Huts. Got a double Dagburger that literally exploded out of the top of the bun when I took my first but. It's was pretty damn good back then. Great onion rings too. Hopefully a T. Perry's or Smashburger or 5 Guys moves into the location. Can't get enough of those.
  12. I'd suggest a chiller if you're in Texas. Big difference between 86 and 92. 82-84 if my wife isn't around.
  13. So did you kick his ass or just send a sternly worded letter?
  14. I agree, but as I noted in my post, he's from Austin. He knows what he's getting into, we used to go to the beach together as kids. Texas beaches. Which obviously don't compare. That said, your dick doesn't shrivel in the gulf and we don't have Box Jellyfish that can kill you. Or Great Whites. So a loss on beauty, a win on usability. Having spent enough time at both, I'll take usability and visit beauty.
  15. Never been disappointed in an Old 97's show. Amazing how much energy they have every single time. Been a long time since I've seen them or checked out an album though. Will need to revisit.
  16. Awesome. My friend (UT Grad/Austin Native) is coming in from Australia with his family over the 4th and we will be in Galveston. Will definitely try to make it to FG. I'll let you know when to put that Meatloaf on the schedule.
  17. Yes, that is definitely badass and surprised it really isn't something other brands haven't implemented in some fashion.
  18. I wear a lot of earth tones outside of work. I also love straps. But in a "sports" watch I want a bracelet. Some of the rubber/sailcloth options are ok too, but leather can't go swimming in the ocean with me.
  19. It seems like someone on Shaggy talked about using a watch rental place. Anyone tried something like that? Might be a good way to try a few things out for several months before making any commitment.
  20. I love my IWC to the point I barely wear anything else. Just a great watch and I won't get rid of it. But next to the Overseas it just doesn't compare. That said, I only have a Pilot Spitfire with grey dial, so not a Portugieser or something at a more similar level.
  21. absolutely, but quite honestly I don't want to put that much thought into it. My grey IWC goes with everything. I think blue basically fits the bill for an "every day" wearer as well. People don't question it. Brown is a little different and as much as I like it, blue may be a better option. Or the white, that would fit pretty much any situation I'd find myself.
  22. Is this heaven? No, its meatloaf. Will this be an every Friday thing? Also, what is your schedule surrounding the 4th?
  23. I really hate the quote feature on this website. And the delete function for previous replies that you just want to remove the quote. That said, very good to know that the brown doesn't look as sharp in person. The non-VC pictures I've seen are underwhelming compared to the website. The brown wouldn't work as an everyday, because I wear a lot of grey/blue suits. But going out it would be something that I could wear pretty much any time. Lot's of jeans and earth-toned shirts. The blue is pretty amazing and is a more "accepted" color compared to the brown. Less coordination. Anyone seen the white?
