  1. If you slide UT Czech III’s decade just a year forward you get The Outlaws album in ‘76 with Willie, Waylon, et al. Thanks to my father I was already familiar with their past work but even to my 12 year old self this sounded like something new and different. But if you slide that decade past ‘65 you lose a ton of cool shit as well
  2. Good Lord, Gil. He lists a who’s who of artists, most of whom wrote their own songs and are considered among the best ever at it, and you crap on Conway Twitty? I never saw a line in the record section of our local Gibson store but it seemed to me that everyone you listed sold about the same and there were a lot of Gibsons in small towns back then. As for your feelings about country music in general watch Ken Burns’ documentary about it if you haven’t already. It might change your mind
  3. So you’re saying that Barry had it in for Larry
  4. Dammit. Somebody please point out to him the shelf in the grocery store with Community coffee on it
  5. I don’t see anything wrong with it. Sincerely, Marty Macramé
  6. Caught the occasional episode when it originally aired but thanks to surly and HBO Max I’m finally realizing the greatness. 1st season, episode 5. Derrick’s debut (Draaaamaaaa!) and the preacher at nana’s funeral shaking his head and saying “chicksand” after the eulogy/break up. I’m crying
  7. mrs. sunshine is watching the Bachelor and it looks like he’s taken the ladies to the Texans facilities for attempted fun. It must be his way of saying his dick doesn’t work and letting them all down easy
  8. Lil Sweet cracks me up. Good on Dr. Pepper for bringing him back. LS: Do you pretend to like sports so your girlfriend’s father will like you? Closeted guy: No, I like sports. LS: Me too (winks)
  9. Good point. He never fared well against He Man
  10. Also RIP Johnny Caravella and Heavy Early
  11. They’re about to fire up Burden of Dreams, the documentary about Werner Herzog making Fitzcarraldo
  12. Also, probably already covered, but… ACDC - It’s a Long Way to the Top, If You Want Blood Stones - Can’t You Hear Me Knocking, Monkey Man Van Halen - Dirty Movies, DOA Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast, Wasted Years Merle Haggard- Ramblin’ Fever Hank Williams Jr. - Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound Elton - Love Lies Bleeding, All the Young Girls Love Alice The Cars - Let’s Go, The Dangerous Type Waylon - Honky Tonk Heroes, Ain’t Living Long Like This
  13. Their website already shows Kick Jeff Fisher in the Ass Night as a sellout
  14. Get ready. A private jet takes him to the crapper and back
  15. Sally calls him Old Faithful when it comes to taking a dump
  16. Well it gave 4 of my family members superpowers so I’d say it’s a wash
  17. I don’t understand. You’re a good, longtime poster. Personally I’ve even refused to engage in any banter, usually not that witty, about your mom just out of respect. But after multiple, sometimes even articulate threads about a series that is generally rated top 5 and ended 14 years ago you recently decided to watch the Wire only because your girlfriend urged you to? Undefeated indeed
  18. A boar hog’s tits think he’s useless
  19. Not to knock Payton as that is in capable hands but it makes me ponder what’s the difference between quitting, stepping down, or as thread title suggests, leaving? A couple of years? More than a decade? Having to track Mack’s plane?
  20. The last place someone enjoyed chopping it up with a guy named Hudson Standish was Plymouth Rock
