  1. They had such a mystique prior to WWII with their Boeing 314 flying boats. I would have loved flying to an exotic place in one. They had a near monopoly as the American international carrier into the 60’s.
  2. I guess she was a bacotarian. She’d get a bean burger with bacon on it. Caesar salad with bacon. Bacon and eggs. She usually just ate French fries, bread, and bean burritos. She knew zero about how vegetarians are supposed to get enough protein. Probably dead by now.
  3. I’ve broken the power antenna mast several times on my 99. It’s easier to replace the mast than switch to a rubber mast. It takes less than five minutes. I get it from Amazon. Remove the antenna nut. It’s easier if you get your wife to switch on the power. Mast extends up and out. Watch the plastic length to see where the teeth point. Put the new plastic in aligned same as the old. Turn off the radio and it will feed into the motor. Tighten the nut. Done..
  4. So was that huge fart by Raymond a sound effect or an ad lib real one by Bill Camp. That set would have needed an E. coli bleaching if real.
  5. Could be. I don’t know that speculation needs a spoiler tag. At this point it could be anyone we’ve seen or not visible yet. Shit the biggest twist against the movie could be that Rusty actually tied her up and stabbed her.
  6. I think it will be a surprise suspect that comes in late. The precise binding in the killing though limits them though. That kind of rope work requires skill and lots of practice. We know nothing about the victim’s prior life other than she has an ex husband and a fucked up teenage son she has little contact with. The ex might have motive. She had kinks. Did she consent to being bound like Bunny and then was murdered? Have they said if the binding was pre or post mortem? My current suspect: the prosecutor who is secretly in love with Rusty who knew of the relationship and is being forced to testify.
  7. That’s a sad commentary on how bad prime has gotten. Also it would be interesting to see the trend. I bet it had a huge launch due to pent up demand and then tapered down from there.
  8. Those were the worst steaks I have ever seen on any show including “worst cook” shows. He basically crowded the pan and boiled them. Those lobster tails were ginormous and he fucked those up as well. The cheesecake they loved appeared to have come out of a box. Who would anyone hire anyone named Jon-o? A producer who is purposely looking for a bad chef to insure drama. He doesn’t appear to have the first clue how to cook for a crowd. As bad as the steaks were, the premade huevos rancheros were even worse. A cold overcooked egg sitting on a greasy tostada is a capital offense. The primary should have demanded the captain and the chef and reamed them at table. I’ve never understood the ignorance of captains to terrible food rumors or dumb chefs. It’s the engine for all of the charters on the show. It’s pretty simple with a new chef. The menus should be reviewed with the primary the night before and printed after review to the preference sheets with the captain. the chef should make three extra of everything served the guests, and they should be pulled at random by the stew and served to the captain, the hidden real captain, and chief engineer as their meals. Also since there is hidden captain they should be occassionally going to the beach and shore events to see how those usually collapse into failure. The bosun this season is an idiot as much as the chef. I’m expecting him to sink this boat
  9. Uhh do you have this internet thing yet? You can watch it in your phone even instead of just the TV
  10. Is that a $40 leg and thigh basket?
  11. The imaginary folks think he’s either a fallen soldier from Walter’s time in Nam (we don’t know if Walter is really a veteran) or Walter’s conscience. “Shut up Donnie!” I said I didn’t agree with it. I think the fact the Dude barely speaks to him in the movie is just the Dude. The real kicker is his death; those were real ashes from his body that blew all over Lebowski.
  12. Some shows would be better as a single miniseries. This is one of them.
  13. Well no need to watch s2 now. Wife wanted to rewatch s1 before doing it. Now no need.
  14. When we lived in Broomfield our favorite “fancy” spot was Mizuna in Denver. It was a perfect cozy place on cold snowy nights. I’ve lived in Memphis, DFW, San Francisco, Portland, and travelled all over the country and eaten some fine food in great places. Mizuna in that 02- 05 time was near perfect. Is it still as good? That’s a long run for a restaurant.
  15. I only ate at one of the restaurants once and it sucked. However the company I worked at would often bring in lunch for meetings and the secretary often had BeauJo’s brought in. Eight pounds, bland sauce, a mountain of junk, and still throbbing after delivery. I can find positives in nearly any pizza and could not with this. It was 20 years ago so I never saw any thin crust then.
  16. Mansfield HEB opened last week. I was there for a doc appointment yesterday and went by. Fuck me the crowd was enormous and parking lot packed at 4pm. I bailed on the groceries but went to the barbecue drive thru. I got a pound of fatty and half pound of lean brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends, a sausage link, and a few Texas torpedoes. Sides of collards, brisket pinto beans, slaw, creamed corn, Serrano corn bread. Took it home and laid out a spread for wife and me. The stuffed jalapeños were excellent, some of the best I’ve had but they are $5 each. Brisket was cooked perfectly. Lean was still moist, and fatty wasn’t overly so, both with heavy smoke, but the rub was way salty. Is that common ? Pulled pork was typical Texan, flavorful but greasy. I grew up in Memphis and want it like that with the fat rendered out. Burnt ends were solid and in the braised style. The sausage had a snappy casing but kinda bland. Collards were excellent with great pot likker. Slaw was pedestrian. Corn very good. Cornbread over baked. Beans were excellent and cooked down to creamy. Overall a solid B+ that I’d pick often if I still lived nearby as the only other option is Hurtado which would have cost an additional $80 bucks or so.
  17. https://www.ordershaneboys.com/ The best Hawaiian I’ve had lately is Shaneboys in of all places down in Lillian. It’s worth the drive. Check it out
  18. I’m thinking they go different than the movie…so maybe all of these are red herrings so far. But I liked Tommy for it until they maybe focused too much on that angle. He would know the rope tie from Bunny as would others in the office but not enough to get it exactly right. I believe I’ve read binding murders using complex knots are precise like fingerprints. But they overplayed it. Rusty is being irritatingly stupid and bullheaded. Point all the spotlights on me!
  19. I heard this first from a doc where the three actors are in a bar discussing the film. Buscemi brings it up, and they consider it. They finally show a single scene where the dude speaks to him. I haven’t rewatched trying to prove or disprove.

I looked at the menu. Fuck me I thought Mi Cocina was crazy expensive. $25 for one enchilada, a tamale, and a taco. Nope.
  21. You know it’s a 26 year old truck and it’s hard to appraise it as it’s very market driven. 109k and good paint is a big plus and it’s a limited. I’m selfish. I hope you paid 5 figures on it to tell me that I’m not an idiot for carrying full coverage and spending money on mine. Sometimes I go online and mines worth $10k other days it looks like it’s worth $3k. Gen3s are hot. Do you feel good about the price? Then it’s well-bought.
  22. What a find! It looks to be in great condition, especially the paint. I have a 99 SR5 Sport V6 4x4 in that same metallic green with 175k. That color looks great but it has a real tendency to fade and oxidize so protect it. Mine needs a total paint job. Some things to watch for. The sunroof can get leaky. Check the gaskets and blow out the drain. Videos are on the interwebs. Next, get the radiator checked and flushed; if it’s the original it’s 26 years old and might need replacement. Assume the timing belt is original so that’s going to be coming up soon along with the water pump. The interior plastics are 26 years old and can get fragile. Last week my driver controls in the armrest fell into the door! You can get a new own seat cover . Otherwise I’m in the survivor camp of leaving it as original as possible. It’s a great low mileage example that should give you and the family years of fun. Mines now a family heirloom that my son wants and now my 9 year old granddaughter.
  23. Anyone with the sense God gave a goat knows that the dish one judges a TexMex restaurant on is their cheese enchiladas. It is simple so execution is critical as any failure in any of the elements renders the dish a disappointing failure. Hence a failure as a restaurant. It’s like steak frites in a French bistro or etoufee in a Cajun joint or over easy fried eggs in a diner. There are basic dishes that indicate the competence of a cook. Now go get your fuckin shine box.
  24. There are some who believe Donny was imaginary. The “I Just Dopped in to see What Condition My Condition Was In” hallucinatory dream scene is one of my favorites in all of filmdom. Kenny Rogers finest song.
