  1. Wait, are they the richest university with the bestest boosters and the mostest CEOs, or is the deck stacked against them?
  2. I don't actually think much of their success will revolve around Reed. He's not great but he could be a superstar and it still wouldn't matter because of that o-line.
  3. Hey, take this shit to the idiot americans at home thread of shame, pal.
  4. My first trip to Belgium, the first night, I went out to dinner with a crew of about 6 or 7 of us including me and another American test engineer along with the local field service engineers, and ate at a small cafe in downtown Leuven. We were ordering Hoegaarden Verboden Vrucht which is an 8.5% Belgian strong dark ale, and over the course of our 2 hour dinner we each had 6 rounds of them. I had been sitting down the entire time and when we were finally done, I stood up, and it felt like the earth wobbled underneath me. I was lucky to remain standing and as we filed out the front door, past the bar where the bartenders had been sending the beers over to us all evening, one of them looked at us admiringly and said, "You hold your liquor well." I proudly smiled and thanked him. I don't remember the walk back to the hotel but I do remember waking up at the hotel bar with a glass of Scotch in front of me and the bartender gently suggesting I head on up to my room. I agreed and obliged.
  5. Belgian beer is best beer. It is known.
  6. You hate to see it, but more than that, you love to see it...
  7. Yup we had all those glasses. Didn't save them, we used them daily, and so eventually the inevitable happened and we broke them all over time. I'd love to still have them intact, would make a fine tall Long Island Iced Tea.
  8. My MIL makes what she calls a chopped ham salad but she actually uses SPAM. It's delicious.
  9. Man it was a lovely weekend all the way around. Saw Ian Moore at Antone's on Friday, crawfish boil at my house on Saturday, and just hanging by the pool in the backyard all afternoon on Sunday. Tremendous weather and even though it's supposed to get Africa-hot this week, I can't complain at all about how mild and pleasant this spring has been so far.
  10. Well the good news is, not a lot of 145 percent stuff was ever shipped. As alluded to above, much of it was held back. But still some arrived and will have to be dealt with. Ports will definitely be a mess for a while.
  11. Hmmm, appreciate the thoughtful response. And I agree with your analysis. I was only musing but you've hit on it. Literally a metric fuckton of people use weird, meaningless or incorrect extra words and syllables for emphasis or exaggeration.
  12. Why do people refer to a metric ton when they're trying to emphasize the enormity of something? I mean, sure, a metric ton is a little more than a regular ton. 1000 kg is about 2,200 lbs, while a regular ton is 2,000 lbs. So a metric ton weighs about 10% more than a regular ton. That's more, of course, but it hardly seems worthy of such breathless enthusiasm. You're basically saying, "ZOMG! It's so big, it's roughly 10% larger than a regular ton!" Which seems pretty anticlimactic, really. Now, if a metric fuckton is something like, I don't know, 37,000 lbs, then I could see the desire to use that particular measurement as emphasis for size. Oh and back on topic, WTF is wrong with you, Austin?
  13. Well from the rankings, looks like we can start by stealing A&M's coaches.
  14. Couldn't tell ya. I just grabbed the graphic off the net. But if I were doing it, I doubt I'd dig any deeper than geographic location of high school. Tracing any deeper than that for "pre-high-school state of origin" doesn't sound like a social media-worthy level of effort.
  15. That, and a tornado watch. But I'm sure it's fine. Everything is fine.
  16. It's never going to stop raining!!
  17. SIAP. I saw this infographic on social media so I'm assuming it's true.
  18. I don't recall this from last season, but apparently at some point RBR was accusing McLaren of injecting water into their tires to help keep them cooler, which they thought was one cause of McLaren's improved performance. So during Friday practice, this happened:
  19. Man where was this again? Were you in South Austin at this time, or maybe over by Lanier? 'Cause that could pretty much be my parents' neighborhood, the one I grew up in and where they still live, at Burnet/183. Right over by Playland Skating Rink.
  20. It's funny because in real life BurntEyes actually IS a doomsday prepper and this is almost certainly part of his actual survival plan!
  21. If you just knock door dash/uber eats offline almost 50% of the American population would starve within a couple of days.
  22. Yeah I love BBQ tenderloin, so quick and so easy. As was stated earlier, I'd recommend pulling at 140 next time, although it sounds like you still had tasty Q. My dad was an amazing BBQ cook but always overcooked his tenderloin because he was from the generation of "pork better be cooked to 160." That just results in dry, untasty pork tenderloin. I made mine for him a few times and he finally asked, "Why is yours so much better than mine?" I told him and after that, he was a convert. You could also turn it into BBQ Cuban sandwiches, that's another good use for leftovers.
  23. Price of My Left Foot going up. The good news, my right foot is a domestic bargain and still in prime ass-kicking form.
  24. I'd be delighted if they eliminated all technical regs other than those regarding safety. Obviously that won't happen but short of that, the only alternative teams have is to push against them until they're told "no."
  25. I'm gonna assume you had an autocorrect attack and not a seizure. I like to cube it small, simmer in a chile gravy, and use it for taco or enchilada filling.
