It's similar to how they've now abandoned the decades-long mantra of the "SEC Grind" in favor of this year's new motto "the sips got the easiest schedule in history."
The truth is, this year perhaps more than any other, actually proves that the SEC Grind really DOES exist. Mid and even bad teams in the SEC are knocking off the top dogs regularly. Georgia lost to Ole Miss. Then Kentucky beat Ole Miss. Then Florida beat Ole Miss and LSU. Alabama lost to both Vandy and OU. Tennessee lost to Arkansas at home. This is the absolute perfect year to demonstrate the toughness of the "SEC Grind."
But... but, it didn't affect Texas. Texas beat all those mid teams. Texas whipped the snot out of several of them. Texas didn't sustain the season-ending and game-changing injuries across the board that were predicted from facing all those pipe-hitting SEC teams. And because Texas didn't suffer the agony of inevitable loss and heartbreak along the SEC Grind Trail, the cognitive dissonance is forcing those good ags to rationalize what they're seeing in some other way, despite the piles of evidence to the contrary.
It's been a fun season to watch.
