  1. Streamflows in the 2K-5K range tend to move the lake by inches. It takes streamflows in the 20K+ range like we saw on Saturday, to move it by multiple feet, especially the closer we get to 680. It has substantially tapered off since its peak 2 days ago despite some heavy rains yesterday. But, there's still quite a bit of rain out there. It would be great to see LT hit 660 or even greater, as a result of all of this. It's gone up 1/10th just in the time we've been discussing it this morning.
  2. Sure hope so, I wouldn't complain.
  3. Heavy rain firing back up in the highland lakes basin, north and west of Austin. Lake Travis now up 19.3 feet since 8 AM Friday to a level of 656.9, and Lake Buchanan up 8.6 feet to a level of 1,011.17. I'd predicted around a 20' rise for Travis but I was really hoping it'd get all the way to 660. It could still go up a few inches or a foot over the next few days, but I don't think it'll quite hit 660 now.
  4. Gauges at Hamilton Creek and Big Sandy are still borked, but Cow Creek is operating. This one was down to 1 cfs just a couple hours ago, now rising again, currently at 1.27K cfs. Yesterday it peaked at 57K and at some point during that event, is when the bridge at 1431 and Cow Creek washed out..
  5. Heavy rain falling again in the areas north of Lake Travis that flooded yesterday. Rainfall totals are past 3 hours.
  6. Eh, go fuck yourself.
  7. You should probably just take a break for a while. Seriously, you're better than this. Usually.
  8. What are you talking about? There's a specific DT thread for news about the event. It's right here: As for the rest of your bullshit statement, you have no idea what I think or feel.
  9. I'm confused by this post from you. You have been suggesting all day to split the discussion of the tragedy/ongoing rescue efforts/fallout/aftermath onto a different thread, because this is the rain thread. And that is the appropriate action and there's now a DT thread for the news about the sad and tragic event itself. There's plenty of news discussion that can be had that isn't (necessarily) CR material, but it's still off topic for THIS thread. Which is exactly what I've been saying for the past 2 days, and what you've been saying today.
  10. Word. Except in the face of overwhelming catastrophic force like the past few days, my bet is always on the Austin FF. It is a power unto itself.
  11. What is this, a slice for ANTS?? (looks good)
  12. Hey now, there are quite a few F1 fans on this board, the F1 thread is one of the lengthier ones on the Other Sports board, and several of us have chimed in on this thread with positive reviews of the movie. I don't recall THIS guy posting on the F1 thread so I wouldn't say he's an F1 super fan at all.
  13. Lake Travis up to 654' which means up about 16.5' since 8 AM yesterday. The gauges on Hamilton and Big Sandy creeks have been pegged at the exact same numbers for most of the day so I'd assume they're broken/non-functional. Still, Cow Creek has tracked up and down with the rains, and there's more coming in from the north, so I'd expect they'll continue to flow rapidly and be unsafe for the foreseeable future. And Lake Buchanan finally on the move, up 3' from 8 AM yesterday with the river still running around ~73K cfs above Colorado Bend.
  14. This is the RAIN thread. You're a complete fucking idiot if you think this thread needs to "tell it like it is" about political posturing. Awesome. Go talk about all of the politics on the CLOAK ROOM thread about this.
  15. Bull. Fucking. Shit. There's no need to discuss a political press conference on the RAIN thread. You wanna know the right place to discuss your feelings about a political press conference. It's the fucking CLOAK ROOM you dipshits.
  16. Two weeks? Mansfield? I'll take that bet. The top 20' of Lake Travis are... massive. This is what it's made for.
  17. I disagree completely. People are venting their anger not just about this event but about party politics in general. Just look at the comments from all of the usual suspects about "which team" is responsible. I'm angry about it too but that's not what this thread is. There are current ongoing rain events. That's what this thread is.
  18. Yes please do. They deserve all of the criticism being heaped upon them. And that discussion should be held in the appropriate forum. Listen that's fine, but it's clearly a topic for another forum on this very message board, that is created specifically for that kind of discussion. Perhaps folks haven't noticed but there's an actual, ongoing, RAIN event occurring in Central Texas right now. It hasn't stopped and in some places it's increasing. The type of stuff that is actually appropriate for THIS thread.
  19. Wow that's a startling image. It shows as closed, as do several other points along 1431. I wonder if any of the rest are destroyed,
  20. Lulz. Isn't this the recruitment where the player's dad publicly stated he was glad Michigan didn't roll out with goats and other stupid gimmicky shit?
  21. For sure, each incremental foot of lakerise requires more and more water. But I won't be surprised if it reaches or gets close to 660 now, at this point.
  22. 680 is considered full. Right now it's still 30 feet low and that's less than 50% I think, so they wouldn't likely consider releasing at any point during this event.
  23. YW. And I just realized you typed Tyler not Taylor, so bolverk's link will be of more use than mine.
  24. Lot of flooding in Liberty Hill/Leander. You can use this website to check for road closures which will also help determine where the conditions are deteriorated in general. https://atxfloods.com/ I drove down to South Austin and back to the Cedar Park area earlier today and aside from rain bands, the roads were fine. I was entirely on major roads of course.
  25. Lake Travis now above 651. That's ~13.5 feet since 8 AM yesterday. And both Hamilton Creek and Big Sandy still running at almost 50K cfs.
