  1. Yup that was my usual go-to. Jack Allen's Kitchen has basically the same dish.
  2. I'm really gonna miss Fred when he retires.
  3. I was promised townies flinging Pabst bottles at my head, and townies I shall have, sir!
  4. Oh absolutely, totally agree. And a more recent chain of linked examples are the typewriter, then the word processor, then networked computer systems, and eventually the internet. All of these disruptors completely eliminated large segments of prior work, but they also created completely new areas of work. Multifactor productivity growth is the lasting legacy of technological innovation and I see no reason for that to change.
  5. Yeah. I think for most companies it's just going to manifest as progressively worse results, as capable knowledge workers are replaced by overly generalist AI agents. But at some point the AI capabilities will catch up and eventually supersede human capabilities for many tasks. That point might be 20 years down the road, or it might be 10. But it's almost certainly not 5, and the current rush to production is pushing for even sooner than that in many companies.
  6. I'm absolutely nobody's thread police, but for those who want to reminisce about long lost Austin joints (and recent ones) there's a pretty lengthy thread for it below. Z Tejas is the most recent entry there, of course.
  7. I stopped Watching Secret Invasion after a 3 or 4. I stopped watching She Hulk after 2. And I also never watched Loki 2. I liked the first Loki series well enough but I'm just completely burned out on the multiverse. I might give this a try. If my kids like it, I'll watch it with them.

  9. Haven't hit 100 at all at my house in NW Travis all year. It's been pleasant. Almost zero rain though, which sucks.
  10. Belgian beer is best beer. It is known. In addition to letting them warm up a little, pour off about 3/4 of the bottle, then take the bottle between your two hands and roll it back and forth to stir up the sediment, and then pour the rest into your glass. And those ales should go into something like this:
  11. I mean, you could also just look it up in traditional mainstream media. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/iran-says-usual-cooperationith-un-nuclear-watchdog-cannot-go-forward-due-2025-06-30/
  12. He's really almost too good to be true and he reads exactly like AI. But then I think about the ags I know in real life who think, and talk, in this exact same way, and I become less sure of my position on the matter.
  13. Yeah I do more like 2-1.5-0.5 on baby backs. I also don't do a full 1 hour at the end on spares, it's usually closer to a half-hour. That's enough time to get them to firm up, without drying out too much.
  14. Wasn't nearly cringey enough. My wife loves watching the races, but the only part of any of the pregame she'll ever watch, is a Brundle grid walk. Because she loves the cringe.
  15. That was some fun racing. I have a feeling Bortoleto woulda had him if they hadn't had to maneuver around Lando and Oscar at just the wrong time.
  16. Yup. It's just as easy to say that a couple of truly terrible plays by the Texas offense, are the only reasons the score of that game wasn't 31-0.
  17. Pork has a natural sweetness to it when it's cooked. My dry rub for ribs has a little bit of sugar in it, but not much, and it's more than enough. I loathe any kind of sweet sauce/glaze on a pork rib. It's an immediate hard pass for me.
  18. I hate sweet sauced ribs so no thanks.
  19. It's pretty clear to me that this is precisely why they went with the Duster. It's the D-minus version compared to all its contemporary muscle cars. But it's still pretty damn cool.
  20. Well to be fair, she's been born and raised in Austin and been to dozens of UT games and tailgate parties and is quite accustomed to experiencing the middle aged dude reliving his Austin experience kind of lifestyle... but this time, she was actually picturing herself living that college experience and I think it hit different. She might or might not end up going to UT but she definitely loves Austin as much as I ever did.
  21. Anyway, I enjoyed AJ Vallejo's set with his latest band Brodie Lane. The medley with Timbuk3 and the Doors was cool, and when they closed with Styx, I was totally in. Overall my first experience with this series at this venue and I liked it. I'm trying to convince my daughter to go to UT and we'd spent the morning doing the Texas Preview tour and information sessions, and then had lunch at The Posse, and ended the day with the live concert on the grounds at the Bullock. She had a great time and I made some progress pushing Texas as a great college choice...
  22. Yeah I was there last night too, I felt really bad for him. I also felt really bad for my 17yo daughter who's a huge Ian Moore fan because we've played his music to her for years, and this was her first experience to hear him live. But most of all I felt bad for the rest of us who had to sit there and watch those two women stand up and "dance" in front of the rest of the audience.
  23. I was down at the Bullock last night for the Ian Moore outdoor concert and there was a huge line for the 7:30 showing. I love that theater but it's so dumb that the seats aren't assigned.
